We got stuck in Idaho Falls after the flooding in Yellowstone unexpectedly altered our vacation plans. Initially, we chose this place because it was one of the cheaper spots along the river. The lobby decor and exterior is especially dated, and to be honest I was a little worried. We got a king room on the second floor overlooking the river. It was quite spacious! A nice little patio balcony too. The room was clean, the bathroom was acceptable. There were enough outlets close to the bed. The TV is a bit old, plasma but not HD, but it worked. The bar/lounge and restaurant as also dated, but I really enjoyed being able to get a Jack & Coke a few times during our stay. The bartender was really friendly and helpful. She mentioned a Tuesday burger special, which would come in handy later. As we were figuring out our travel plans we decided to stay an additional night as we planned our way to Grand Teton. All of the hotels in Jackson, WY were around $300+ so we decided it would be more cost effective to come back to Idaho Falls. The walk out the side doors to the river walk was great. It's about a 30 minute walk to downtown. Breakfast was a bit of a mixed bag, if that is your reason for staying, don't. Scrambled eggs, quick hash browns, mini donuts, peaches and questionable cream. It was definitely just food, but on the house with a room rental. Bacon was advertised but when we went down there wasn't any. Overall, our stay was great. The AC works great and doubles as a white noise machine if you just want to run the fan. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely be back. read more

Some troubles I ran into that I can't get past was the key card readers, they never worked, I was constantly having to go to the front desk to get the card redone. Created a reservation for some workers. They arrived and 45min later told my employees there was no rooms available and ( I have confirmation etc). The next morning tried billing me for a no show on reservation. Made, manager was not helping told my employee to call tomorrow and she called today just to go through and be the same guy yesterday and hung up on her. I am giving this hotel 2 stars only for location and staff service. The interior is outdated and worn. Our bathroom was scary, the walls had paint spackles of different colors where the walls were patched but they didn't bother to use the same color paint? The tub didn't hold water and the tub drain had hair in it. One of the light switches didn't work in the bathroom. I can't say much about the breakfast because it was mostly gone by the time I got down to the grill. Our room had a view of the snake river, so it's a great location, walking distance to the falls. We had to change rooms and the staff seemed pleasant enough. Our room was fine, and yes the balcony had cobwebs and was covered in dust - deal with it or pay double next door. This hotel is rundown and not clean. It needs some serious maintenance work and a housekeeping staff that does much better.

I stayed here twice. The first time was okay, except this guy name Kirk that I guess works at the front desk, had got my personal number from the site I used to book the room & it creeped me out. He asked if me & my friend wanted to go on a date with him. We politely declined seeing as we were leaving that same day, but we both thought it was a bit creepish. He didn't bother us again, so we didn't think anything of it. That is until we were coming back & he had mentioned maybe getting us discounted on the rooms. When telling him we were coming back, he basically said if we wanted to SLEEP with him that he could upgrade us & get us an early check in. That's when it just got totally weird. We were already there and had the reservation, so we stayed. The whole time, Kirk would blow one of our phones up asking if we wanted to feel "safe" up in our rooms, he could help. Even came to our room again the last night staying creeping my friend ALL the way out seeing as why wouldn't he just call the room ? After that, instead of booking another night, I left. My friend had already left days before by him being so unprofessional & creepy. We will not return to this hotel & it's 100% because of him. My wife mistakenly booked the wrong night on Expedia, which probably isn't an uncommon thing. Expedia worked as intermediary to get a refund from the hotel, and after several days of them trying, Shilo refused to refund us (as any decent human being would seemingly do). From the looks of things, this place's best days were about 40 years ago, and I hope they enjoy their early retirement upon going out of business. You're welcome for the donation. read more

We called up 3 months ago to reserve rooms and was given a price of 89 for the night! 2 days before we are set to arrive he calls up and says he cant honor that price and that it would be 149! After a conversation he became a complete asshole and said he would just cancel the rooms!!! We call up the next day to confirm we still have rooms and we did! the very next day when we got there to check in we were not in the system! After 14 hours on the road. We paid extra for a balcony with a view of the water to relax and unwind. The view was pretty but out balcony and patio furniture had not been cleaned in weeks. Tons of old dead bugs in cobwebs as soon as we opened the door and all over the seats we where supposed to use to enjoy the view I paid for. Also spiders came out really mad when I used my own lysol sheets to clean my patio. Bugs all over the ground. I would never have my own house like this let alone pay extra for it! Awful experience. Completely run down and outdated from the little bit we saw. We checked in and found our room, but upon entering the room it was musty, smelled like cigarette smoke, and the blankets on the bed were damp. We had our 4&5 year old kids with us so we opted to check out right away, after we were told refunds were only available 24 hours before check in. If it had just been my wife and I we may have stayed and tried it out for the night but we didn't want to have our kids in that room for a whole night. The manager (older man with white hair and facial hair) who was there was extremely rude to my wife and I and needs to be fired. We have stayed in hotels all over the US and this is the only time I've been so disgusted that I felt the need to leave a review. If you are considering this hotel, just don't. Even if it costs more elsewhere it is absolutely worth it. read more

My husband and I moved here in September to purchase our new home for our retirement. We looked at reviews and weren't sure about it but thought it would be really nice to have a river view. We were here for almost a month before we could move into our new home. Yes, some things are a little dated but the staff are incredible and more than makes up for it. Everything is very clean, and if you need anything they are on top of it. Definitely recommend Shilo Inn Idaho Falls, ID!! Back in February/March we booked 3 rooms with the Shilo Inn at a rate of $89 per night which included their Military Discount for a one night stay June 3rd. This was during a citywide festival that brings a lot of business and out-of-state'rs to town. A few days before travel, I called to see if I could add an addition room to our reservation. The lady I spoke to verified our reservation and added the room. Two days before we were to travel, the General Manager, Kirk, called us and said that he would not give us the rooms for the originally agreed upon price, and that we could either pay $145 per room, per night or cancel the rooms and go elsewhere. He called us two days before we are supposed to travel, into the middle of a citywide festival that has more than half the city booked up, and threatened to cancel our rooms if we didn't pay almost twice as much! Then, when we called corporate and made a complaint, he deleted the entire reservation from the system to make it look like we had never booked in the first place, so when we showed up, 400 miles from home, they didn't show that we ever had a reservation. Fortunately, I DO still have recorded phone call from a few days prior, where the front desk gal confirms, ok a recorded line, that we did have reservations at that time! We ended up having to pay $265 per room, at another area hotel, just to have a place to stay! What Kirk did is purely extortion, and I'm pretty sure it's illegal and action needs to be taken on the part of this hotel to make sure this never happens to anyone else, and to make amends to us for the stress, fear, harassment, and additional monies we had to spend due to his greedy actions! read more

So where do I start! Honest opinion this place is trash, it's run down and not taken care of, and it starts with the general manager Kirk Hansen, who is by far the biggest douche bag and unprofessional manager I've ever had to deal with through a hotel chain, so it started out I reserved my rooms 2 to 3 months ago and got a set price for those rooms, Hansen calls me two days before my arrival telling me that he won't accept the price that was given to me by the reservation department, claiming that the reservation price was a mistake, so I asked him since it's a mistake it should be on Shilo inn not on the customer. Well he gave me an ultimatum pay this price or I will cancel your reservations. Isn't that illegal? So I agreed to the price since I already had family friends as well as prior military family and friends that flew into town and we're all planning on staying there. During the conversation with Mr. Hansen I asked for customer service and corporate and he chose to hang up the phone on me I called and emailed customer service to report them professional, belittling, and demeaning behavior displayed by the general manager. Now fast forward to the date of my arrival, was just us pulling in the parking lot, we witnessed a drug deal go down, As soon as we enter the lobby The air was stale and stagnant, as well as the entire hotel just stunk, we saw a younger female escorting an older male so we all thought a prostitute and "John" activities were happening I will never be back to the dump, the best thing that Shilo Inns corporate can do is the fire that idiotic, childish GM and bulldoze the entire hotel and start over new! read more

It was a really great value for the price.I even liked their breakfast.Whole lots of things were out of the order , but on the bright side it looks like they were being repaired. The view was nice and so was free wi-fi which offered very decent speed. The pool area had a SHOWER, which to my great surprise is not very common in SE Idaho.I prefer to shower before pool and after.Many people ignored the shower , the more reasons to shower right after swimming.No wine openers/glasses available to to the customers, but they can open your beverage for you at the front desk. Overall very satisfied , could have been a bit better , but that usually comes with a different price tag. read more

For the price, this place is a joke. The front desk staff was quite rude. My elder mother and I asked how late restaurant was open (we had our dog w us) one person said 9 pm the other person said 10 pm. Then they said "we don't know." So I googled it. After finding out, I asked them if they had a menu available. The guy rolled his eyes at me and said, "you know, you could just go to the restaurant." My mom and I left and ate elsewhere. Ok, I have to say that the staff here has been great during out lengthy stay. Rooms have been clean and comfortable, showers work great, and we've lucked out having river side views for scenery. Now, the only two complaints are as follows: If you offer and have a laundry facility, then at least maintain the machines so that ALL of the work ALL of the time. Out of Order signs are of no use for guests. If you offer and have a BUSINESS center for guests needing a computer/fax/printer...then by all means...PLEASE have all of them that work and are maintained and are updated to 2012!!! This is a a pet friendly hotel, with a great view of the river and decent prices. They have a complimentary breakfast buffet and a very friendly housekeeping staff. They have an indoor pool, a decent small gym and laundry facilities--although it cost me $3 a load to wash and dry. They have a full service bar that is open until midnight. Not overpriced beverages, just good ol liquor and beer with light appitizers at decent prices. Directly in back of the hotel they have a nice bridge that connects to the path that goes entirely around the river. If you run the whole path you'd get a good two miles in. read more

This place was incredibly dirty. There were broken windows, trash and dirt in the hallway. When I opened my room door, the lights did not work and a horror movie was playing on the television. I had to use my phone flashlight to find the remote and turn off the TV. A small lamp in the room worked and when I turned it on, I noticed cigarette hole burns in the bed sheets. The a/c blew hot air and there were broken tiles in the shower and bathroom. I went to the front desk and was told I could have a "clean" room instead. I did not stay there and am currently waiting for a reimbursement. This place is scary and dirty. I was told later by a shuttle driver that this is the hotel where drug deals are completed. This wouldn't be my first choice of hotels to come back to. When we arrived in town I chose the Shilo because it had river view rooms. They wouldn't price match their online rate, and told me they only had 1 room left anyway. I had to walk back out to my car and reserve online and discovered there were SEVERAL rooms available online. I reserved a room on the 4th floor to have a room with a view and a balcony only to discover once we got in the room that the balcony doors were screwed shut and the balcony wasn't to be used. The room had a nice view but it would have been nice to use the balcony I paid for. There was only luke warm water in the shower/bath and our refrigerator didn't work at all. The room was relatively clean and it did come with a free breakfast. The restaurant staff was very attentive and friendly and earned the 2nd star for this rating. I'd advise physically going up to check your room to make sure you'll be getting what you paid for before deciding to stay here. read more

It was my first time to check in at Shilo Inn Suites Hotel. First of all, we kind of checked in late but lo and behold all the staff, especially Christina was warm, friendly and welcoming. The rooms takes you to a classic setting and yet pretty clean and organized well by our attendant Jasmin. My friend and I had a great night sleep. Then we headed for breakfast before we travel to Yellowstone National Park. I was expecting the usual waffles, eggs, bagels, and coffee but it was really a great surprised when we dined in. As we walked in at the restaurant, we were greeted with an array of great tasting breakfast to our delight. Beautifully and exquisite choices of cooked eggs one plain with chives and the other with ham - both were tasty and chef-worthy dishes. Then, there was the sausages, choice of cereals, juices, and a variety of pastries and ample of fresh fruits and your drinks as well, as we dined in the restaurant with the friendly staff hospitality making our experience unforgettable. The ambience was just perfect as we enjoyed the view of the Snake River and the mallard ducks playing around. Then, as we were headed to our destination, Christina was very helpful to assist us to have a wonderful experience and she even printed us a copy of the directions. The service was just unmatched and phenomenal and all the staff just go their way above and beyond to the customers satisfaction. I'm just glad my friend and I made this decision. Since we were not able to sleep at the hotel for the second night, we hurried to drive back and hoping we could be there in time for breakfast. We barely made it for it was almost 10:00. As we walked in, Christina and the staff assured us that even if it was already 10, they are still willing to accommodate us, including the other hotel guests who were dining in late as well. So we did enjoyed our last breakfast. Everyone of the staff was very considerate, helpful, respectful, and accommodating being true to what SHILO stands for - Service, Honesty, Integrity, Location, and Offer. The location of the hotel is great, but it could really use some updating. We checked into our room and the key didn't work. Had to go back to the front desk. Once we got in to our room, the smell of dog was strong. My husband is very allergic. I immediately called the front desk, but neither phone in the room worked. We went to the front desk, but the line was so long. We went the dinner at Jakers, which was fabulous! When we got back to the hotel, they switched us to a much better, clean smelling, room. Well a lot of people gave this place three stars but I gave it five stars because the hotel room is so big it's been renovated somewhat the bathroom fixtures are pretty new great towels comfortable bed good pillows what I love about the room is it's huge and it's got a patio and it's right on the river you can't beat the view the people here are very nice the breakfast was very good comes with the room sausage eggs biscuits and gravy fruit coffee all the good stuff bottom rooms lead right out onto the river so try to get one on the first floor pool and Jacuzzi area has steam room which is awesome. read more

Hotel is a good value. Room here was about ninety dollars while most everything else in town was significantly more. What you get is a very large hotel room. King bed, desk, sitting area with a couch, wet bar. I also had a balcony which was really nice if it hadn't been under construction. Breakfast was free and includes eggs, sausages and potatoes. Not spectacular but okay. But there is a reason this hotel is the price it is. Restaurant was closed. Bar was closed. Although the room was nice, all the other hotel spaces are dated. The hotel corridors are dingy and low. The rooms balcony, which was under "construction ", was grossly dirty, covered in bird poop and generally very disgusting. For the money, a good value. If other hotels hadn't been so sold out and had rooms at a comparable price though, I wouldn't stay here again. read more

I don't want to be one of those people who only leaves negative reviews and considering the awful Days Inn review I just left, I figured I needed to write one for the lovely hotel my parents and I stayed at the night before. I live in Southern California and my parents live in Montana; I flew to Montana for the holidays and was driving them down to Southern California over three days. My parents and I have made this trip both separately and together for more than ten years. Between my parents and I we have literally stayed at dozens of Super 8's, Econo Lodges, and even Motel 6's along I-15; my parents are pretty budget conscious when they travel. This place is by far my favorite place to stay when I stop in Idaho Falls (full disclosure, I've never actually stayed anywhere else in Idaho Falls, but why would I need to?). On my latest trip, we arrived close to 8 pm without a reservation and were able to get two rooms near each other without a problem. As always, the front desk agents, both in the evening and in the morning, are always friendly. The rooms are huge, both had one king bed, a sofa, a table with two chairs, and a desk. While we were on the 4th floor this time, I've stayed here in the past with my dog and not only are they pet friendly :), but they have rooms on the first floor with sliders directly out to the back of the hotel right along the river. Perfect for quick walks with the puppy. There is also a bar that serves food in the evening and their free breakfast in the morning is far better than your average free breakfast. The server was super friendly and the food was hot and looked and tasted fresh. Definitely recommend this hotel! read more

Gross. I should have known better. This hotel needs a lot of updating. The lobby was extremely outdated and hot. Front desk staff was nice. Elevator was old and very loud. Hallways dark. Room is nice and large. I could have done without the blood smeared on the bathroom wall and the note from the maid asking for a tip. Pool was ice cold and my kids wouldn't even get in it. Cracked floor tiles and moldy drop down ceiling tiles everywhere. Apparently the restaurant was closed for dinner , I'm glad it was as the next morning at breakfast I nearly puked from the condition of the place. Dirty, outdated and duck tape all over the floors. Food was cold, my daughter wouldn't even eat it. Not sure how this passed any health department inspection. I highly recommend spending a bit more and getting a decent hotel. Pretty nice rooms and fairly comfy beds! Staff was nice and accomodating. We visited for Beer fest and although it said check in wasn't until 4 they let us check in early since our room was ready. Even for beer fest it was pretty quiet for a hotel and the amount of drunk people. The bar/restaurant attached was pretty fun and had a nice selection of food. I loved the chicken fried steak I got. Most of the bar staff (one person seemed irritated but they were exceptionalky busy) was friendly and very sweet. There is a nice patio and tables outside looking out on the river. If I go back to beer fest or are in Idaho Falls for something else I would definitely stay here again read more
