I went to Ella's last night for a manicure and had one of…read morethe worst salon experiences of my life: I would never go again. Firstly, the salon is dirty. The nail area cushions are ripped, there are cracks in the furniture and none of the equipment was cleaned before or after it was used on me. Secondly, I had a dreadful experience with my manicure. I asked the technician if they had shellac and she told me they did but I don't think she had a clue what she was talking about. She sighed when I said I wanted my nails filed round not square, and tutted and rolled her eyes when I changed my mind about the colour I wanted, before any colour had been applied. Also, the quality of polish is low: Barry M and a lot of other tired looking, cheap brands. I don't mind a bit of Barry M at home but it's not what I want when I've asked for shellac! The dryer she had looked like a Barbie one and was as effective as a sparrow yawning on my nails. Added to this, she kept messing up the polish, so taking it off and reapplying. After one hour and 20 minutes of this, I said I had to leave and she tried to charge me £20, even though the sign on the wall said a manicure was £8. When I questioned this she said she's used shellac and when I pointed out that she hadn't used shellac but Barry M, suddenly she couldn't understand what I was talking about. I was so upset by the experience I paid, left, and burst into tears as soon as I walked out the door. Dreadful. My manicure began to peel the same night too. One to avoid.

My current favourite two is Tomoko and Chico, Chico usually understands how my hair grows more, and cut my hair a way that i just need to wash and blow dry without any fuss.She will take the time in perfecting the haircut, and there's been occasions i would go to her to fix a previous terrible haircuts from other places. I try to go early bird times to get 30% discount which is £21 for cut and finish for any hair length which is CHEAP! usual price is £31

The decor is French and feminine with antique furniture and there was alternative music playing which was a nice change to other salons I've been in. The overall result was good, but not the greatest haircut I've ever had. However, the price is great, so it's a little bit of a trade off.

Expect a long wait at the weekend and at lunchtimes as the store gets very busy. You'll probably also find that ealy mornings can be popular (presumeably with everyone thinking that they'll beat the rush). Waiting facilities are basically just a row of chairs - don't expect the salon treatment here. The salon is clean and brightly lit and is popular with all ages and both men and women (although to be fair it's predominantly women). Good sanitation procedures appear to be used. The cuts are acceptable but I find that you have to know what you want as this isn't really the right setting for a consultation! In terms of price Supercuts are very competative, especially given that Woking salons often think that they are in the WestEnd of London! Recommended for basic cuts.

I was offered the usual drink and magazines, but agree with Michelle T that the junior staff were pretty robotic. I never pay much to have my hair cut, and I consider £50 far too much for a wash and trim, but if you quote 'online 50% off', it's a good deal. I was going to give an 'a-ok' review, but reading Michelle's reminded me that I too got a different haircut to the one I asked for, and that although it worked out well for me, that is not actually a fine way to run a hairdressing business. Because I left with half price snazzy hair I just smiled to myself at the stylist's arrogance, but thinking about it, how dare he make it up as he went along, without consulting me! Also, the receptionist was pretty pushy about trying to make me sign up to a loyalty card, and looked at me as if my refusal (which I had to give 3 times) was weird.
