To keep my experience as simple as possible:
This was my first tiime with the salon; I booked an appt. with director of the salon at 1pm making it clear I had work 2 hrs later - she said it would take only around an hour so this wouldn't be a problem.
Upon arriving I was informed that there had been a mixup with the bookings and the woman who I was booked with wasn't actually available, so instead I got given the only other available hairdresser - a graduate who assured me he'd worked for 2 years there and had all his qualifications.
I had waist length hair and made it clear I only wanted no more than 3 inches off, ie the unhealthy ends taken off and nothing else - I work as an actor alongside my day job and it is important my hairstyle is never changed too drastically - an hour was spent getting a knot out of my hair that I guess had happened from washing it - he had to ask the woman who was meant to do my hair initially, for help to get the knot out it was that bad! To be fair the hairdresser was very friendly and chatty - however obviously "young" - and continuously reassured me that he was only taking what I asked off my hair. I have layers in my hair so the front sections have always been shorter-so I wasn't too worried when I saw short hair thinking this was just my layers redone. I was also assured I wouldn't be getting a "blunt" cut which I really don't like, and apparently, neither did the hairdress, so again I wasn't worried.
End result: Due to the amount of time spent getting the knot out of my hair, and slow blowdrying, I wasn't ready to leave the salon until 2.50pm - 10 minutes before I was due at work! What I thought was the short layers was the resulting length of ALL of my hair - just below my shoulders!!!!! And it was a blunt cut!!!!! So my waist length hair is now a blunt, long bob - I was so preoccupied with making sure I got to work on time I just left as soon as possible - I tied my hair up for work and upon seeing it properly once I got home, refuse to wear it down anymore because I am so unhappy with the cut. Obviously this now poses problems for acting work as I now need to pay for new headshots as my hair is so different!
I give the salon 3 stars as the people were friendly and I do genuinely think the hairdresser thought he'd done a good job, and I'm not a person who likes to make a fuss so I didn't want to complain to the salon as there's nothing that can be done once my hair has already been cut off! However I won't be going back there ever again and I just hope my hair grows back quickly :( And am only speaking on behalf of one stylist, however I am sad to think if there hadn't been a mixup in bookings, I may still have my longer hair! read more
