Left early from work to catch part of my daughters ballet class. She has been going to the Chorus…read moreLine studio in Smithtown for years, but the ballet class at this location sit the schedule. The parking area for this location is smaller than the Smithtown location and on days where they have observation performance I can see it become very chaotic very quick. This was a regular lesson night and I was lucky enough to get the last open spot. The lobby is very narrow, with seats lining the walls for parents to wait for their children to finish class. The classes are held in two rooms, one on the 1st floor and another larger room upstairs. The room downstairs has a small window where curious parents can peek in watch their child dance. The room upstairs has a video camera set up and the lesson is displayed on a large flat screen TV in the lobby. My wife usually takes her to class...so I don't usually get to see what it's like...but it was mad house. My advice...sit in your car and wait.

My daughter felt judged there, she would do a leap and the other girls would look at her weirdly and stare at her. My daughter then went somewhere else and loved it! The recital is way too long and the prep and nonsense for the recital is ridiculous they expect me to pull my daughter out of school so I could bring her to the dress rehearsal. They are way too expensive and I have to work extra hours to pay for one dance class! As the only parent in the house hold it was not my favorite place either. So happy we switched!

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing and handled poorly. She ended up sitting in a cold room for nearly two hours while other students practiced. I understand they're preparing for a show, but no one gave us a heads-up that there wouldn't be a real class or that my daughter wouldn't be participating. The director actually told her to let them know when she needs a break. Had I been informed ahead of time, I would've gladly scheduled another day. I was just told to come pick her up at 8:30 pm. Instead, she sat and waited with no explanation, no apology, and no follow-up or offer to come back. My daughter left feeling discouraged and doesn't want to return. That says a lot coming from a child who was initially excited. Based on our experience, I can't recommend Plenty of Rhythm to others. Clear communication and basic professionalism were lacking, and that makes all the difference--especially when working with children.

POR has helped my once down on herself child, blossom into a child who is confident in herself to achieve anything she puts her mind into. My daughter has attended 2 other dance schools and this one is by far the best! All of the students who attend are respectful, kind, loving and they have this warmth about them to welcome anyone new to the class with open arms! My 7 year old has a dance family and I am grateful to Miss Theresa and the Plenty of Rhythm Team for adding her to this amazing family dynamic! I recommend them whole heartedly!!! As a mother of a 6-week-old infant, I was told I could not bring a milk bottle into the auditorium to feed my newborn during the performance. Because I am not breastfeeding, I was forced to either miss the show I paid for or let my baby go hungry -- all because of a rigid, outdated policy that values the "rules" of an auditorium more than the basic human needs of an infant. When I tried to explain the situation, I was met with shocking disrespect. Ms. Sally and Mr. Kevin, the owners of KP Dance, told me that it wasn't their problem that my baby wasn't on a strict feeding routine (as if that's even realistic at 6 weeks old). To make matters worse, they were overheard telling another parent that people who can't manage this are simply "lazy." Let that sink in: A business that markets itself to families with children is actively shaming and excluding parents of infants -- especially those who bottle feed -- and calling them lazy for not having newborns on a rigid schedule. Mr. Romano and Frank Pignatta enforced the policy with zero empathy, zero flexibility, and zero respect for the realities of parenting. The entire ordeal made it painfully clear that KP Dance cares more about controlling their environment than supporting the families who keep their business running. No parent should ever be forced to choose between feeding their baby and watching their child perform. And no parent deserves to be treated with the level of disrespect and cruelty that I -- and others -- experienced here. I will not be returning, and I strongly caution any other families -- especially those with young children -- to reconsider supporting an establishment that sees babies' needs as a "disruption" and dismisses mothers with such callous disregard.

The teacher is wonderful and keeps it very fun and exciting, so all the little 4 year olds stay focused. It's a great introduction to how a dance class works and they make learning into a creative exploration of space and movement. We LOVE it! Take your kids or yourself there to enjoy the world of dance. They teach from 3 to 60! A real gem on Long Island.
