We have only ever enjoyed seeing one particular provider here. However, after reaching out to reschedule our twins appointment because I am sick and my husband is traveling, they told me the next appointment wasn't for another 6 months. (This has happened with our 4 yo many times as well) So they offered me a time 6 months later and WHEN I DIDNT RESPOND WITHIN 3 hours in the portal, they gave that time to someone else. I am a working mom and I have 3 kids under the age of 4 with my own health issues. This is not the first time this has happened and I had hoped that they got a new office manager but they are so inconsiderate and incredibly inflexible it is not worth the stress. I once didn't fill out the intake form online because my twins were born on leap year and I couldn't figure out the form so they just canceled it. I was 2 weeks postpartum with twins and recovering from a c section, breastfeeding all of the things. When I tried to call I couldn't even leave a voicemail. Another time I paid for a crazy expensive testing and appointment with Dr. Naidoo and he gave me a lecture on how we should stand up for not vaccinating our children. I already support not vaccinating children but I had to kindly remind him that my children are my priority and the topic of the appointment and I didn't want to pay for that. Of course he was 30 minutes late to that appointment and I only got 15 minutes with him. It's pretty sad that we pay extra for some of these testing and were looking for somewhere with functional medicine. Do not schedule here unless you want your visits and scheduling to end in tears. I took my newborn there and everything seemed fairly normal until my wife was told that the doctors RECOMMENDED AGAINST CDC VACCINATION PROTOCOLS because it would be too many shots for a baby all at once. They then tried to sell my wife silica drops to treat the "heavy metals" in the vaccines. For anyone reading this that may be unaware, silica drops have been unproven to treat anything and heavy metals in vaccines aren't a thing. My son was derailed from his vaccination schedule and we're still trying to get back on track because other pediatricians have a hard time believing that any doctor's office would act so negligently. We've truly enjoyed our experience with Shine! In my opinion, the "one-size-fits-all" approach is a major flaw in today's medical field, and I appreciate Shine's individualized approach, tailoring care to each child's unique needs. Their commitment to understanding each child's specific circumstances makes all the difference, and it's refreshing to see such personalized care in action. Initially, every time we had an apt we unknowingly would see a different provider, which was confusing at first. However, we then had Fnan for a few back to back apts and we love her! We prefer the consistency with our kids, so we simply request her when scheduling, and the staff ensures our appointments are with her. We haven't met all the providers, but the providers we did meet have been kind and great too by the way, but you know, sometimes one just clicks best, making visits even more comfortable. Regarding complaints about response times, I'm not sure when others submitted their questions, but whenever I've sent mine, as long as it's not too close to closing time, Shine has always responded promptly. Their team so far has always been attentive and ensures questions are addressed efficiently, which has been a huge relief for us as parents of two littles! And if you really do need after hours, we recently used the service to connect with their after hours nurse and she was great over the phone and ensured we could continue communication through text. It's a great first step in my opinion instead of rushing to the ER when it may not be necessary. Yes, there is a small fee for this service, but ER and urgent care also has a fee... Lastly, I've read reviews about being "pushed" toward Shepherd. No one pressured us, but I chose to join and now regret not doing so sooner. It's been a huge relief to connect with other parents asking similar questions--it makes you feel less alone. The providers, including Dr. Naidoo, share valuable information on the platform, and I love that there are virtual events to attend, with recordings available to watch later. Plus, the protocols for common parental concerns are incredibly helpful. We're grateful! read more

My family and I just recently moved to Texas from out of state and I am so greatful that I found a very supportive, knowledgeable and respectful Pediatrics office for my young children. I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with the experience I had at Shine Pediatrics yesterday. My child had a 9:45 AM appointment, and we arrived exactly at 9:45. Upon checking in, we were told our appointment had been canceled due to their new "5-minute grace period" policy. When we pointed out that we were there on time, we were told that we were actually supposed to arrive 10 minutes early. Since when does being on time mean being late? This makes no sense. We were not late, yet we were treated like we were at fault. They offered to move our appointment at a later time, but again treated us like it was OUR fault for being on time rather than 10 mins early. I actually showed them their policy which said there is a 5 minutes grace period and suggest to arrive 10 minutes early to ensure you aren't late. Yet nowhere does it state YOU MUST arrive 10 minutes early before your appointment time. I am appalled by the way we were treated--dismissed and turned away for showing up at the exact time of our appointment. I loved this office until this week. My daughter was seen a week ago and we have yet to recieve clarity on her antibiotics. The pharmacy has reached out and I have reached out multiple times and the office does not reply. The provider will finally call me back in the evening and provide some clarity but then the next day it's all confusion again when the pharmacy reaches out and no responses so we get delayed a full day again. I am exteremly frustrated with our non-responses for my sick toddler. This is first time i've experienced this but after reading other reviews it seems to be the norm. read more

Why has finding a Pediatrician and office staff who are kind, actually like children, don't make you feel like a horrible parent and can get you in before the century ends become a feat of the near impossible? Well not anymore! The front office staff has never been anything short of kind, welcoming and very helpful. Every nurse I've interacted with has displayed a genuine smile and made both myself and my little one(s) feel comfortable and at ease. Even the shots are given with care and consideration! I absolutely love the natural options they offer. From essential oils to homeopathic options, while not being anti 'over the counter med' either. I've had the pleasure of meeting with CPNP Christie Potter, FNP-C Tiffany Hamilton, CPNP Linda Malone (Frisco location) and many of the nurses. Every single one of them has genuinely given their time to listen to any questions or concerns I have and then taken the time to answer them. The questions they ask me are relevant and the follow up questions they ask shows they really are listening! I personally trust the CPNPs and don't need to see Dr. Naidoo, but I do hear the wait to see him is a bit longer and not as easy to get in "asap". They don't even have a phone number you can call to get in touch with a front desk person, you have to wait for them to reach out to you. Would hardly call some of the new providers holistic at all, my baby had thrush and they went right to recommending a pharmaceutical, I asked the Dr. about Grapefruit Seed Extract and she said babies can not consume essential oils, which GSE is not. You can never get a sick visit. They constantly refer you to urgent care. My child's new pediatrician is the urgent care place. It took 4+ month to book a well visit. It's ridiculous. My urgent care Place recommended we see the pediatrician if my son did not get better. I let them know and they told me to book a FollowUp with the urgent care place. Let me start with this is not your typical practice, these people are aware of many things other pediatricians don't bother to get informed about. This is a holistic practice!!!! My kids love this place. I love the fact that they're aware of how overwhelming vaccines can be when kids are so young. I love the fact that they are informed. When we come the ladies in the front are great, they're courteous. We love seeing Chandra Garvey, she's very smart, knowledgeable and treats us like family. I have not seen the other providers cus why fix what isn't broken, right? We also see Dr. Naidoo for well check ups but he is booked for months in advance, we also waited a while to see him when we arrived because his appointments are in depth and he's not rushing to get to the next patient. My 14 yr old felt comfortable with him and I appreciated the "assessment" for his mental and emotional state. Nowadays kids have all kinds of mental issues and his got checked. This is the practice I wish I had known about YEARS ago! but you live and learn right? Another thing to add, the MA"s are very patient! I have a child with a lot of anxiety due to other pediatrician's experience, and they are SOOOO PATIENT. Bless your hearts for being so patient with my kid - even when I am not patient with her. I love that at the end of the visit my kids look forward to getting a juice or an ORGANIC lollipop. Also, I love that I can buy the supplements there and they're the best of the best. If I could zero stars I would. I came here for one visit in December for my baby boy under the recommendation of an acquaintance of mine. On the initial phone call I asked If they accepted my insurance and they told me yes they did. It wasn't until after the visit was over in which we did blood work and other testing that we were informed that our insurance plan wasn't covered and we were to pay out of pocket. I asked to talk to someone about the mistake the office made and no one ever called me back. Fast forward to February of this year and I received two bills, one mailed and one emailed to me from shine. I call the office multiple times, left messages before someone at the front desk finally calls me back. I explained the situation and she said ok let me message our finances person. She then proceeded to tell me we can offer you a discount off the amount. Again I refused and said, I would like to be charged what I would he charged if you accepted our insurance since this is what we were told prior to our visit. She said ok we will contact you back. Here it is, months later and we get another bill. I called the office again this morning with no response. So the point of this review is to warn everyone about the unprofessional way this situation was handled. If you are looking for a provider who never answers the phone and lies to you about insurance coverage and also ignores your calls, then by all means, this is the place for you!! read more

'Shine' does not shine. They refused to provide the 2-week screening to our newborn and instructed us to go to LabCorp facilities. We had to visit multiple locations and each time LabCorp told us they don't do newborn screenings and we shouldn't even be visiting the LabCorp office because it's an unsafe environment for a newborn...yet this is what Shine had instructed us to do...BTW this is all during the peak of COVID...thx Shine. Shine also delivers a lack-luster patient experience. You will never see the main doctor (Naidoo), and their philosophy is treatment care via 'nurse-practitioners'...that's fine except that there's zero consistency with the nurse-practitioner you see...we were tossed to 5 different nurses over the 12 times we've visited their office...each having varying approaches to child interaction, treatment, vaccines, etc. Sorry to have to say this, but Shine is a dud. read more

If I could rate this in the negative I would but sadly 1 star is the lowest. I just took my 2 year old to Shine Pediatrics on Rosedale and this was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a pediatrician. We saw Jennifer Graves. My 2 year old daughter is terrified of doctors and she had zero tolerance or patience for this. She said it was "abnormal, and not typical" for a child to be scared of the doctor because "all I'm doing is talking, I'm not even hurting her and she's crying." She then proceeds to tell me that my child is obese and will have a heart attack and that she is manipulating me by not eating vegetables and I need to be a better mom. My daughter is naturally very chill, she's always been super relaxed- VERY polite and soft spoken and she's just not aggressive in any way and she's very attached to me (especially when we are away from home) She said it's not normal for a child her age to cry at the doctor and be that attached to mom. She's saying things like "MY kids eat their vegetables and I don't give them ANY snacks and they aren't scared of the doctor either." I then tell her my daughters always been this way and she's not manipulating me because she is a baby. The doctor then tells me she's not a baby and that she's almost 3 and "much smarter than I realize and is just trying to get her way." I then tell her we have a huge difference in morality and the way we view parenting and that this is not going to workout, and she proceeds to try and examine my daughter, I tell her no I'm not comfortable with this and I'd like to leave, and she puts her stethoscope on my child regardless after I just omitted my consent, my daughter is kicking her and I'm pushing her stethoscope away and she's still forcing it onto my child, and she sarcastically says "sorry- couldn't hear you over all the screaming." And I get up and I said we are leaving right now, and she is like sorry you don't like my expert medical opinion and I'm like ?! Telling me my child will die from a heart attack and that I'm not a good mom because she is a picky eater and communicates with me through crying (like all babies do?) and you say she's manipulative and she's not a baby and she should not be scared in any way or feel safe and attached to her mom.... Is your expert medical opinion ? That was bullshit and I am beyond shocked at what we just experienced. I was so over the moon about finding a more holistic doctor in the metroplex and it turned out to be the worst decision of my life. I hate that my daughter had to hear all of those negative things today and I'm actually so upset that she spoke to me in that way. I will be pressing charges against her for this traumatic experience, pursuing her with the TX medical board, and trying to get in touch with the owner of Shine. Her NPI # is 1851997829. She should NEVER ever be able to practice medicine again or touch a child. I have reached out to a group of 200,000+ women in the DFW metroplex, where SEVERAL have also had similar experiences with Jennifer Graves here at Shine Pediatrics and we will all be pursuing her for the negligence and pure evil she has in her heart for children. I will tell everyone who has ears to listen to never go to Shine Pediatrics and will be posting about this experience on all my social media platforms as well to tell the 500,000+ people that follow me to spread this message. If you have respect for yourself and your kid, STAY AWAY from this place. Totally disrespectful employees and doctor. The only thing they care is your money. We have been going to this place after my daughter born since our midwife recommended them and the location was pretty close to our house. SUCH A MISTAKE. First, there is no doctor in this place. His name is there but he is either in other facility (or that's what we have been told) or in hospital. You will see nurse practitioners in all your visits. I didn't mind it at first since they generally have enough knowledge and experience. But as any parent can relate, we wanted to have an appointment with doctor to discuss couple of things personally. You have to take an appointment 3-4 months in advance to see the doctor for any reason which we did in our last visit in May and scheduled an appointment with the Dr. Naidoo for 3.5 months later, August 27th. My wife's class schedule changed by the time so I tried to call them last week and yesterday to see if we can reschedule. Guess what? There is no way to reach this place via phone.There are 5-6 employees working in front desk and none of them care to answer a phone. I tried all day long, left voicemails, still no chance. Then since we waited over 3 months to see the doctor, I took a day off from my work, my wife called her professor to miss her class and we went to our daughter's appointment on time. After waiting 25 minutes and 3 other people going in who came after us, I went to front desk to see what are we waiting for? I asked if the doctor is in and two employees in front desk looking at each other thinking what to say. One I assume went to check and come back 5 mins later asking me if I want to reschedule without giving any reason or apology for the inconvenience. Of course I did not and we left the place with missing a day in school and work. Also, 3 other parent mentioned they were trying to call and had no response for days while we were waiting in the front room. This place is a business focused on money, not a place caring about your kid nor your time. Please do a favor to yourself and find another place. read more

I have followed Dr. Naidoo since he was a Dr. at the first Pediatrician my children had. I am so glad to follow him to his practice now and I will not take my son to see anyone else. For a while my son didn't see him because insurance didn't cover him, but I quickly found I'd rather be cash pay, than to take him anywhere else. Dr. Naidoo has always taken his time at our appointments, and I have always felt like he answers all my questions, addresses all my concerns and even asks me questions to get to the bottom of whatever might be going on. He has always answered me in the best interest of my son, and I don't ever ever feel like he judges my choices in terms of vaccinations either. He is supportive AND informative and I respect that very much. I cannot speak to anyone else in the practice as I only take my son to Dr. Naidoo and luckily my son hasn't needed to be seen other than for his well checks, which I recommend scheduling when you leave the office for the following year. I first would like to say, this was my first time at this office and I am extremely upset with my experience. I am holistically minded and have referred many patients here. My daughter was seeing a different doctor but she is so far that I felt it was time to make the switch. I have a lot of like minded friends who also go to this office. When I first called I spoke with a girl from the front office and she basically told me their office is so inundated with patients and good luck getting an appointment. She then transferred me over to someone else (Danielle) who was very nice over the phone and sent me the information for thier klara app this was at 9:33am. She gave me instructions on what to do and said if I can get her registered, that they could see me at 5:15pm. I did not receive the email clarification from HFAlerts so I messaged them again (and called and left 2 messages at 10:26 and 10:29am) and told her I needed the link to get my daughter registered. She then told me she would resend it. Then I received a message in their app that said any more messages that I send would delay their response time. I still could not get in to register so I messaged again and she said I had sent her the wrong email address (which ok fine) .. so this was at 11:27am. So I was able to get her registered and planned on going in at 5:15pm. I go in at 5:00 and spoke to a front desk person that said they didn't see our appointment or our patient portal so she went to go get the Danielle girl. The Danielle girl comes out frantically and tells me "I told you to message me if you got her registered and you didn't register her" and I politely told her "Yes I did register her ... it told me she was registered at the end." She told me they didn't have her on file and kept insinuating that I did not register her. She also told me they would not be seeing my daughter today and I heard her tell the other front office girl "I gave her appointment up because I didn't hear back from her." and I told her "Ma'am you just said to get her registered and that she could be seen." Danielle continued to argue with me and was extremely passive aggressive. I also explained to her that I could not get into the portal the first couple of times and that I had left two voicemails and she said "no you left one." and said Ma'am I have it right here ... you can literally see on the app the two times I called and left a voicemail. So I asked her what do I do? She rudely said "I can see how much trouble your having so I can get you signed up on the portal but she wont be seen today." Then she left to go in the back to speak to a provider. She comes back about 5 minutes later and says "We can get you in at 7:15pm but you need to get her registered." So I asked her "What happened to the first time I registered?" and she said "I can't help that we have technological issues and we are short staffed ".... ok so then another woman comes in (really really nice lady) and she explained that they could see me at 7:15 for a telehealth visit, but by this point I was so upset that I just wanted to leave. I did tell the lady how rude Danielle spoke to me and I could literally see Danielle ROLLING HER EYES as I was talking to this other lady. I did fill out the paper form to register my daughter but I did not end up booking an appointment. I cannot believe the way I was spoken to and literally was told that I did not register or even leave a voicemail for that matter when their app clearly shows me the times I called. The very first time I called and spoke to Mari she told me that they were so swamped and inundated with patients, good luck getting an appointment. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr.Naidoo and I am also a former patient of Dr.Erin V. (who is absolutely amazing by the way) but I am so upset with the way the Danielle girl handled the situation. She was very unethical and I am extremely disappointed. Like I said, I have actually referred many people to this office because of our like-mindedness and values and I was so excited to actually come here for the first time. I have alot of friends who take their kids here, but I am very upset with the way this transpired. I understand what it is like to work in a fast paced environment and be overwhelmed but I also understand the common curteousy of treating patients with respect. read more

I was also happy that they were more cautious than most doctors with prescribing antibiotics and other medications that could have bad side effects. So why would I give it two stars? As time went on, I began to notice that Dr. Naidoo's practice began to align itself more along complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) ideological lines rather than sensible science based medicine. It first began when our family did not feel we were getting much help with our child's eczema, so we went to a hospital that specializes in this area and received amazing care that truly changed our quality of life once we came back home and continued their recommendations. When we mentioned this to Dr. Naidoo, instead of being happy for us, he sort of shrugged it off and said "Its just a more in depth conventional treatment" and "I could have done what they did." Well, he didn't and we did not appreciate that proud tone. In general Dr. Naidoo is a compassionate and humble doctor, but we were surprised by his response on this specific occassion. Then there is the unreasonable promotion of homeopathy, which once it reaches a certain dilution no longer even has an active ingredient. It perplexes me how a real doctor like Dr. Naidoo could promote something like this. I got into a short discussion with him about this and he presented his side of the argument. After looking up all the different claims he made for a considerable amount of time I was disappointed to find that they really do lack any scientific basis. In one visit he recommended a homeopathic nosode "vaccine" in place of a real vaccine. Note that the NCCIH which is dedicated to studying complementary and alternative medicine states: "There is little evidence to support homeopathy as an effective treatment for any specific condition." and "Follow the recommended conventional immunization schedules for children and adults. Do not use homeopathic products as a substitute for conventional immunizations." Source: nccih.nih.gov/health/homeopathy In my opinion, based on basic scientific understanding, a vast body of clinical trials showing homeopathy as ineffective, and the work done by the NCCIH, I find this to be unacceptable. Note: I am not referring to herbal or homeopathic remedies that still contain enough active ingredient to have an effect. Then there was the time when our daughter had a cold and we received a document detailing the different treatments we can try for colds and flus. The flu vaccine, which is the only one that has proven effectiveness, is listed last. They even admit that its safe, so why list it last? Are they just pandering to their audience that may have negative views about vaccines instead of stating the facts in a more honest manner? The best I have ever found for some way to treat the common cold was vitamin C and even that may only shorten the average time of having a cold by half a day. So neither mainstream nor alternative treatments have been shown to be effective for the common cold. Finally, they would only allow two vaccines to be given at once. My daughter was about to travel and we could only get two out of three CDC recommended vaccines for where she was going to in time for the trip. So they will listen to patients' fears about vaccines, but when a patient actually wants them we don't get listened to. In the past we were told to hold off on vaccines because of allergy issues, but ironically her allergies have been getting significantly better even with these vaccines. In summary this practice does have some positive things going for it, but please don't throw out basic scientific understanding. We have already moved on and I imagine other people that run into these shortcomings will as well. While Dr. Naidoo and his staff do practice legitimate medicine, they also recommend unproven and/or disproven treatments in their practice at times.
