The ladies at Shine are incredible, I've been a client for a while now and can honestly say that every appointment I've had has been a top notch experience. Last week I had an appointment that I had to bring my two young daughters along for (thanks to my own scheduling mistake!). Let me just say that my kids sitting quietly in a salon for 3.5 hours while I had my hair done was not going to happen - my kids are 6 and 8, they don't even have attention spans yet! But the girls at Shine were ready for us, they'd managed (on very short notice!) to book my girls in for their own cut & colour and were set to go the minute we walked in the door. When my hair took much longer than my daughters' the ladies at Shine stepped up again, giving them each a little space to sit and colour and read books quietly so I didn't have to worry about them running around, destroying their beautiful salon or disturbing other clients. I'm pretty sure my precious little ADHD 8-year-old must've asked Kjirsten about 5,000 questions about hair colour, lock, cuts, etc. - all of which Kjirsten answered with infinite patience and smiles. Lisha managed to get my youngest out of her shell and talking so that she could make sure she got exactly what she wanted for cut & colour - this is not an easy thing to do, most days she can't even tell me what she wants! My oldest got bright, fun, feminine hits of colour at the ends, and my youngest got blue and soft black bangs, blended beautifully with her natural colour. Kjirsten and Lisha both managed to keep my girls' styles age appropriate and totally fitting with their unique personalities and tastes. And as usual, my hair turned out AWESOME. Christine is my cut & colour guru, always offering me options, suggestions, and opportunities to break out of my shell just enough. She's amazing, I show up feeling like a tired mom and I always leave feeling polished and hot again - that's practically a miracle! Not only do you get the best hair cuts and styles, colours, etc., for children, men and women, their customer service is superior to any salon I've ever been to. The stylists take the time to educate you on your hair cut, so you can actually do the same style at home! I have a 6 year old and a 10 year old, both love getting their hair cuts there. It's a welcoming space. They've recently moved to the McGill Mall in College Heights and in addition to hair services, they've added skin and body care and make-up and massage! Absolutely AWESOME: Ever since Shine Hair Salon opened in February 2012, I have been getting my hair done there. I am so happy with my tres chic cuts. There is always attention to detail and sometimes I dare to ask for something quite Avant-garde! This is the best Salon I have ever been to. All of the employees are professional and personable. I enjoy the conversations, they never gossip and we always laugh. As for the service. It is incredible; they take the appropriate steps to listen to what I want, they are honest with me when I ask for opinions and ideas, they stay fresh and current and never make me feel anything but valued and welcomed. I absolutely LOVE the gals at Shine. Nothing but class professionalism and great fun too. I didn't know what it was like to have a real stylist until I met Jacki. SHINE introduced me to some amazing cuts that I never would have tried before and they introduced me to some awesome colors. I can't believe I waited so long in life to try something trendy. Jacki also took the time to teach me how to style my hair and look after it. They have some great products and have training in the most current techniques. I've never been more happy with a salon or barber shop than with Shine! I've been to a lot of places, and have left feeling a little disappointed. They really know how to take care of you. If your not sure with what you want, they take the time to go over the options and make you feel good about the choice you make. The scalp massage itself is worth the visit. I love Shine and the ladies there! I couldn't recommend them highly enough! I have curly(ish) hair and have been unsatisfied with cuts pretty much everywhere else I have tried. Jacki is meticulous with my hair and it always ends up looking fabulous. It is easy to style and grows out super nicely. The salon is busy but I never feel rushed when I'm there. There is something to be said for a hair salon that does what they should...create up to date style while listening to the client's hopes, ideas and sensitivities! In a modern environment, the stylists clearly possess up to date education which keeps them trustworthy and makes their business model believable.
