So here's the thing- I was initially nervous about getting extensions because I had heard horror stories about how they thin your natural hair. Enter: Megan: My long-time hair color fairy and the guardian of my hair (lol). Knowing she'd never steer me wrong, when I expressed interest in extensions, I was confident my hair underneath would be fine. 1.5 years later and I just recently took the extensions out for a summer break (your girl runs hot!) and I am so impressed by the state of my scalp and hair now. Not only has my amount of hair not diminished, I even feel like it's much healthier than before the extensions. I would think this is due to expert installation as well as the fact that the extensions lengthened the time between washes (my fine hair used to get so weighed down and greasy, so I used to have to wash very often, and the extensions prolonged the volume). I will definitely be doing extensions again, especially now that I know that I can easily get them installed and take breaks as needed. Megan was also able to help me extend the life of my extensions with education on how to care for them, so I still have them in a bag for when I go back to long, voluminous, vavavoom hair. Once again- no one is allowed to touch my hair with color or extensions unless their name is Megan Essig. Previous review: 5 Stars for extensions that perfectly match my hair and have changed my whole hair routine! It's been 8 months now of having extensions by Megan and I could not be happier. She is an absolute expert at color matching and she helps you buy the extensions directly from the supplier (no upcharging here!) from there the install is totally painless and flawless. I surprise people constantly when I let them know I have extensions because it looks like my real hair and the roots don't stick out prominently. The best part? I thought this would add to my hair care routine time, but on the contrary- I can go longer between washes and styling because it holds the style so well and doesn't get greasy. I've had all types of extensions - tape-ins, k-tips, and wefts. I can speak from my own 10 year extension journey when I say it is very important to do your research before getting extensions. When I started seeing Megan, she spent an immense amount of time showing me where my where my previous hair dresser had damaged my hair and showed me how I can take better care of my hair. I had literal bald spots. She focused on getting my REAL hair healthy before we even entered into extension territory. To try to make a super…read morelong story a little shorter- I have been going to the same hair stylist for 10 - plus years and two weeks ago I had another hair appointment with my same hair stylist. She didn't do what I had asked for and then one week later tried to make it better and made it even worse.. I was very disappointed. I had reached out to a friend for help on who to go to and she referred me to Wendy at X2. I immediately blew Wendy's phone up (110% serious) explaining how upset I was and hoping she could fix it ASAP! She responded to me super quickly by saying "little bit of a situation there!! It's ok though no panicking, color can always be fixed!" I got lucky that she was able to fit me in at the END of her already long day and I showed up to her salon at 6pm and did not leave her chair until just before midnight!! (That's how much work she had to do). I showed up and she came up to me and said she could fix it and calmed me down. She was so welcoming and also made me a complimentary glass of champagne ‍! The salon is BEAUTIFUL! Super clean and comfortable. There are refreshments and snacks, They play great music which is always a plus! They have great products that they use on your hair and retail them so you can purchase anything you wanted. Everything smelled incredible, I literally wanted one of everything on the shelves!! Wendy went from trying to strip some of the color out first, she gave me an olaplex treatment, added another olaplex treatment to the color she mixed up, cut my hair, toned my hair and more. She had to save my hair from breaking and frying. Not only did she do that, but also WAY more!!
