The Company Theatre - Drum set from Abbamania at the Company Theater in Norwell!

We went to the company theater to watch the production Abbamania, a long running ABBA tribute show,…read moreperforming since 1999. The band was made up off of three guitarist, a keyboard player, a drummer (who happened to be a female, which was very cool because I don't see a lot of them), and two female lead singers. By and large, all the members of the band were baby boomers with the exception of the drummer who seemed to be maybe in her early 30s. The two female singers dance through most of the performance and the dancing left something to be desired. This doesn't matter because the performance overall is a singing performance, and the vocalist were excellent. The music of course was a total throwback to the amazing band ABBA. I enjoyed it immensely. The singers had lots of electric stage presence, great personalities, and talent. Other than the lackluster dancing parentheses (I didn't expect stellar dancing anyway!) the only negative comment I can make is that we got aisle seats next to each other. People sitting in the rows further in arrived later than we did so we had to get up to let them through. Later on in the performance, several of these people decided to get up and dance down in front of the stage so we had to get up again. After they dance, they came back to their seats and got their pocket books and then went out to the concession stand so we had to get up again. Afterwards, of course we had to let them back to their seats for the rest of the performance. Flipping pain in the neck, but this was not the fault of the performance or the theater. I highly recommend that you see this performance if you are able to! Just be sure to get seats next to the wall, the furthest in.

It starts out as a father's legacy, played by Peter S. Adams as Mr. Price of " Price and Sons shoe manufacturer ". His passing left the company and his legacy to his son Charlie Price, played by the talented Brandon Wong, struggling to come to grips what to do. From the moment KINKY BOOTS , it started, the whole theatre guests were receptive and riveted in their seats. Each ensemble cast member performed their part on point and with great ease. The main character appeared as an adult "LOLA", played by Gilbert Dabady, elevated the energy level of her character level to a new high! Totally enjoyed the performance! Very convincing! "LOLA", grabbed the audience attention and did not let it go and commanded the stage along with "Charlie Price", played by BRANDON WONG. His powerful voice and acting made for a very entertaining scene! IT WAS A HUGE TREAT TO WITNESS SUCH TALENT, Thank you! This Production of KINKY BOOTS, by DIRECTOR ZOE BRADFORD, has made a huge mark in the Theatre Industry and her Productions are LEGENDARY! Thank you for your devotion to the theatre and this Non-Profit Company to bring the Best Productions in the South Shore for its Community and beyond! Ms. Linda, the owner, genuinely care about each dancer and create such a positive, supportive, and encouraging environment. The studio has taught my daughter confidence, teamwork, dedication, and a true love for dance. Watching her grow here over the years has been such a gift for our family. We are incredibly grateful for everything this studio has given our daughter.

My child was treated differently in a way that was impossible to ignore- dismissive, exclusionary, and painfully racist. Watching any child be made to feel unwelcome/lesser in a space that should be safe and encouraging was heartbreaking. On top of that, the staff (specifically Miss Nicole Carey) was rude, cold, and offered no instruction whatsoever. No guidance, no patience, no professionalism- just attitude and neglect. A dance studio should build confidence and joy, not shame and confusion. If you can't treat all children (including ALL nationalities & backgrounds) with kindness, fairness, and basic human decency, you should not be teaching them. I would truly NEVER recommend this studio to any parent. Do better- or don't work with children at all.

After the first six weeks of classes they started practicing the routine and then 75% of the time most of the girls stood around watching other girls practice their parts of the routine for the recital. My daughter, as well as other girls there I know, got very bored and did not even want to go to class. She had the size of this class way to big! I was told there would not be that many in the class. And let me tell you about the obscenely long FOUR hour recital she scheduled. What other dance studio does that??? That was brutal on many levels for both students and the family members there watching. Several people left after intermision, which at a normal studio would have actually been the time a recital would end. Not to mention the unorganization of it. She also overbooked seating for that auditorium. So Bridget threw some folding chairs in the aisle, in front of a safety bar,so not only were we in awful folding chairs but also could not see without looking under or over the bar. We paid $120 for folding chair seats in the isle with an obstructed view. Had to put your head under or stand up to see kids on stage. Overall I have to say I was very dissapointed with Bridget's on several levels. I would NEVER recommend anyone go to that dance studio. I will be trying Amy's Dance in Braintree.

We couldn't be more pleased with the process and how our dance turned out! We are actually thinking of taking more lessons just for fun :)
