A number of visits and purchase. Ninety percent of them were good but a few were bad. I have never used their range.

This is a very small gun range in a store. The staff was nice and kept the line safe. The RSO stays outside the range and watches through a window. I was skeptical at first, but he did come in and spoke to a couple who weren't being safe. I'll go here again the next time I'm in Fort Myers. read more

My boomstick is broken. It makes the usual booms but one of the components isn't working right and it needs professional repair. I brought it to Shoot Straight as I'm in the area on vacation and figured they might be able to help. They were helpful because they offered to do the repair. They also noted that it might be under warranty and that perhaps I should reach out to the manufacturer. Friendly and even though I didn't buy anything today, I did look about and see some inexpensive boomsticks that might be worth purchasing in the future. Accessories, too. I shot at shoot straight several years ago. I am not a huge fan of indoor ranges, but for an indoor range it is a nice facility. That is not the subject of this review however. I needed an FFL for a firearms transfer for a gun being sent to me by my employer. I was surprised how much of a difference in cost a simple transfer could be! Bass Pro Shops was ridiculous! I called Shoot Straight, and they have a very reasonable price for a transfer, so I set it up. Without going into painful detail, I was getting the runaround on the phone regarding what was going on with my incoming firearm. I finally called back and asked to speak to a manager. The guy on the phone literally refused to let me speak to a manager unless I first explained to HIM what I wanted to talk to the manager about. I very nearly said it was about HIM, but instead I hung up and drove to the store. This is starting to sound like a lot lower than a four star review, but when I spoke to the manager, he was great. He was very apologetic and waived the transfer fee. Things happen, employees need training, and at the end of the day, if a business makes it right that is all that matters. I will be going back. Marc was placed as manager and he's a very rude employee. He said there was no paperwork for my gun when in fact he had it all the time. He asked me to don't come back when I have only received firearms with no problems at all. He doesn't have organizational skills and he blames it on the customers saying that he has too many emails duh. He gets -5 stars from me. read more

Terrible service. The employees made me feel unwanted. They ignored me, and seemed to be more concerned with shooting the breeze with regulars. Was told I could buy a firearm but when he realized he had to honor the online price he said he can't sell to me and ship to my state Kentucky. LOL. It was priced $100 more in the store so that would have eaten into his commission. I immediately left there. Went on another website got it even cheaper and FREE SHIPPING! I really wanted to like this place because it's nice inside,clean, and close. I thought I'd also get a little respect being I'm a Marine veteran and this place seems to support veterans judging by their decor. My experience was anything but enjoyable, I paid for range time today, when I entered the range they were running AC units on the side lanes. When I put my target on the range machine none would can still at all. I tried 3 lanes, waited each time for awhile but since they were running AC units or something none would stop.... I walked out after shooting only 1 magazine and asked for a refund because i was there for accuracy shooting not moving target shooting. The range safety officer, a young kid that was probably around young 20's said why don't you shoot in the middle since those ant moving. I said I tried every free range and the middle had customers. He said "whatever man I guess" and gave me an attitude. I'm a veteran that did my time, i don't deserve walking into a place that appears to support veterans, and receive that kind of attitude. Not only did they loose a range customer, They also lost money on the long haul since I buy on average 6-8 guns a year. Purchased a couple lowers at shoot straights gun show. Guy said I had to transfer them to shoot straight and pick them up. Get to shoot straight on Monday they tell me to come back Wednesday. Get there Wednesday they said because my drivers license doesn't show avenue on my address they can do the background check. This is a review for the Ft Myers location. NEVER again folks! I ordered an EP9 from another dealer delivered to this location. Joe was the salesman/manager that took care of me. While I waited for my approval (long wait which was not an issue for me), Joe took 1 call from a customer wanting a price match/lower price on a gun and another salesman approached him asking the exact same thing. On both occasions Joe agreed to a small discount. While there I opted to buy a GC3 Taurus. The price was high IMHO ($350), I asked if I could get a better price. He said no. I took the gun home and registered it through Taurus and I get an ad for the new Taurus optic ready GC3. My gun is unused and in the box. I called the store spoke to MR. Personality (seriously) and asked if I could return the gun in exchange for the new model and pay the upcharge. They didn't have the gun in stock and they would have to order it. I asked what that would cost and he explained my gun (by state law) would have to be purchased back as used. Ok, no issue there if it's the law. But then he offers $250 for a gun I just bought a few days ago! Not sure about you, but for me this is a slap in the face. I was going to give them more business and buy a more expensive gun. Plus, I already overpaid for my gun IMHO. Just doesn't sit straight with me and I won't be using Shoot Straight ever again! Plenty of other competition in town. If you want customers to come back over and over again, treat them like they have value! A manager like Joe would not be allowed to touch my customers! read more

I was really surprised to see how many younger children present at the range, and the level of gun safety being taught / enforced (an essential!) 0 STARS FOR THIS PLACE!!! I paid for a class for my gun permit and I was unable to attend. One of the customer service reps was extremely rude and told me that all of their classes were already full and that they could not accommodate me. He was dead set in not being able to help me at all. I used to be a good customer, have bought a lot of ammo from them. Had my first visit to their range last Sunday. Staff were very friendly, and nothing like some of the previous reviews I'd read on Yelp. Range prices were reasonable. My only complaint was that the range was warm, but I suspect that was due to the fact I was there right when they opened and the AC had just kicked on. I'll definitely be back. read more

Bought ammo from them at the gun show this past weekend at the civic center on Bayshore road and when I got home I opened some of the ammo and it looks corroded and rusty. Emailed them in regards to it and even tried calling with no luck getting thru. Guess once you buy from them and they have there money the could care less about you. I have 3 years service with sheriff department and 8 military yet treated as some punk off the street. I have recently made purchases at other establishments. Then guy said that my buddy pointed gun at my chest witch never happen he was pointing at ground and said if we wanted to switch guns to put in bag and switch. I'm not to happy with this company and their policy of standing behind their products. I went in less than 2 weeks ago and purchased a benchmaker out the front knife the "mini infidel". The knife started giving me trouble almost immediately. I figured that maybe it needed a little break in time, but after three or four days no better. I went to return it only to find that they do not have a return policy, I have to ship off a brand new product to get repairs done on it. I spent $350 for this knife and I am very dissatisfied with the fact that this company does not stand behind the products they sell. Buyers beware. read more

I have to say the range staff is great and they have good prices on firearms. That unfortunately is it. I have had some bad experiences with sales staff and when I did complain the manager told me how I was wrong and dismissed my complaint. With the amount of gun sales these days I guess Shoot Straight could careless about the customer. I have read several reviews on Google+ that describe a common practice of treating the customer like crap. So thanks for ignoring my complaint. I will take my business elsewhere. read more
