There were many cashiers open at a very busy time of day. It helped me spend a short amount of time in the store. I asked 2 different employees for help and they were both friendly and knowledgeable. Shop Rite - Drugstores Near Me - Middletown Township, New Jersey

Love Shop Rite stores because I a usually get anything I need there. Yesterday I went to the one in Middletown, even though Shrewsbury is closer. I used one of those small carts, which are usually hard to find, because there were only a few things on my shopping list, which I keep on my phone. One thing was Ice cream. When I was finished I left my card right outside the door and took my bags to my car. At that point I noticed my phone was missing and went back to the cart, which had already been snapped up by another customer. I went to customer service and asked them to make an announcement and in a very nasty tone the two woman said they couldn't do that. (WHY THE F NOT?) They told me to wait because someone would definitely turn it in. Remember the ice cream? I waited as long as I could, then left my number to call me if they got it. I drove the 7 miles home and received a call immediately that the phone had been turned in. So I drove the 7 miles back. I agree with Bruce P. that their customer service is like being in hell. They could have just made the announcement for me and saved my time and gas. (BTW the CS woman said making an announcement wouldn't have helped because it was found in a cart in the parking lot. My cart was left at the door and had the announcement been made when I asked, it would still have been in the store.) read more

If you use self checkout like I do because there is never enough manned lines or they are so nasty you rather do it yourself,they are going to make it so uncomfortable by staring at you like you are stealing that you will want to shop elsewhere read more

It's a good store, but today I went to Shop Rite on Route 35 in New Jersey, and I asked for twelve eclairs. When I got home, there were only nine eclairs in the box. But, I guess it's okay because I saw that it looked like they didn't have twelve eclairs. But when I got the box, it said I asked for twelve eclairs and I still got charged $23.88. read more

It's a great store but it is gigantic. I have everything I ever want. The size it is enormous if you have a sprained ankle you will be walking forever but did you have a pick up. Grocery pick up at and curbside pick up. And you could use Peapod if you really can't go to ShopRite but for the person who likes to fill their home with the delicious food and Grocerie goods etc. this is the place. Shop Rite Middletown is my go to grocery store but I have to say ever since the "No Plastic Bag" law came into affect May 4th, the cashiers are no help whatsoever. All they do is take the money and ask if you need reusable bags. No help bagging at this Shop Rite and it's ridiculous. Younger people it's not so bad but when my 80 year old mother or God forbid someone handicap has to do all the bagging as they stand and watch you??? That's just ridiculous. Hopefully with more complaints they will have the cashiers back to bagging the items. Usually great but this is why I put only 2 stars. If the customer wanted to bag groceries, we'd get a job bagging groceries. Oh wait, they don't bag them anymore. DAMN IT!!! read more

My main complaint is getting bad food. I've gotten moldy sealed parmesan cheese (expiration was a long way in the distance). I've gotten a bag of baby carrots that I later found had a black, decomposing bit of carrot in it (sealed bag), and in the SAME trip got a 4-pack of prewrapped (foam board and saran wrap) green peppers on sale which looked alright, but upon going to open them when I got home, I found one almost completely rotted through on the inside and underside, complete mush with a horrible smell. I think the only way this can happen, especially with sealed food with a far distant expiration date, is if the food is being stored improperly either in transit or IN the store. It's either in a highly unsanitary area, or with poor temperature control or BOTH. It's carrots and peppers. Carrots are freaking roots. They last forever in the fridge. Peppers last at least a while before even beginning to wrinkle, much less lose their structural integrity. Separate issue. You have you gluten free pasta in with non gluten free pasta- incorrectly labeled. You also have gluten free chicken nuggets in with the 3 types of non gluten free ones (organic tenders, organic nuggets and non organic tenders), with an Applewood label that indicates that ALL of them are gluten free. Stick with your brown store label. The markety label Applewood gave you is just confusing for us trying to figure out what is safe to eat. And I've lived here for less than 3 months. Get it together. In the mean time, I'll be at Stop and Shop down the street. read more

This was my absolute worst customer service experience ever. I ordered a simple $20 birthday cake for my daughter almost 2 weeks in advance. I also followed up 4 days prior to my pick up & got a verbal confirmation that it would be ready. Of course calling both times was a absurd cycle of being placed on hold & 5 different people asking how they can help me. This happened again for literally 40 minutes the day I was picking up the cake... I was so frustrated that I told the last employee I was just driving over & to please have my cake ready. When I arrived not only was my cake not ready, they claimed there was no record of my ever ordering it. Nobody took any responsibility & just tried to prove me wrong by calling other stores to see if I ordered somewhere else... I only deal with this store! After another 10 minutes of them asking who I spoke with (how should I know??) I said "stop!" This is now a couple hours since I called... how about just making my cake instead of all this nonsense?? I also said my daughters party was starting soon! Still zero apologies, zero responsibility & I overheard one employee say to another that I shouldn't be having a party during Covid (it was literally 2 close friends! Also- my daughter, son & I got tested last week to make all comfortable) then a lady takes me to the very few premade cakes they had... I say "I want the cake I ordered".. she says "I don't know if I can fit you in we're busy" "fit me in??? I ordered this ridiculous $20 cake 2 weeks ago & now it's becoming a part time job, please just make it!!" I even show the staff my phone records of my first order, the follow up call & the 40 min call that morning being on hold. Finally she takes out a pen mimicking an effort like it's a 45lb gym plate & takes my requested order... an hour later the "cake maker" gets back from lunch & makes it in 10 minutes... my daughter's name was almost legible. I understand that anyone can have a bad day but this was 4-6 employees just teeming up to try to make me wrong & take zero responsibility. I've been a customer at this place for 15 years! Since losing the A&P this is the best priced Supermarket in my area. Store is always clean, large selection, and nice cashiers who work hard. I but mostly sale items but never had an issue with food being bad. read more
