ShopSCAD has some SCAD-swag but also unique, interesting pieces of art, accessories and gifts. My friend and I spent at least 20 minutes here, looking through their cool merchandise. They had hand-painted wallets and bags, statement jewelry, candles, home decor, etc. Even if you're not intending to buy (some of the stuff is quite pricey) it makes for some good browsing. The store is very clean, design-oriented and the staff were friendly. Definitely a must for visitors to Savannah to see a store which showcases the talent of the SCAD students and alumni.

When we are in the area I love to visit this shop. Items designed and made by SCAD students. Lots of interesting, unique items. You never know what you'll find. Enjoy!

It even smells like creativity in here. Sniff hard and you'll likely feel your own artistic yearnings. ShopSCAD is a boutique-gallery with wares from SCAD alumni, students, and faculty, and it's not only a cool way for the artists to get their goods out there, but also a way to let the greater Atlanta community get involved and become aware of the oodles of creativity quietly churning out of the campus on Peachtree. It makes art accessible for the masses - you can grab a unique gift for a friend or treat yourself to a piece of art way cheaper than you'd score at Sotherby's or any other fancy pants gallery. There's a diversity of programs offered by SCAD, so that means you've got a wide selection to choose from. They have goods ranging from jewelry, apparel, paper goods, sculpture, pottery, paintings. . . Especially notable is the Working Class collection, which is a class project of sorts, but much more innovative than any I remember from college. They produce a line of home goods & accessories way more chic than many a line out there. The store is usually kept by a SCAD graduate who does their own creative thing on the side. On my most recent visit, the lovely, recently graduated, fiber major shopgirl and I dished about Project Runway for a good five minutes. They're soon moving from the Buckhead location to their main Atlanta branch in Spring 2008. But don't worry. They'll be promptly moving all that creativity and those friendly shopkeepers, too.

I always love seeing what kinds of new goodies they have, all made by SCAD students, alumni, professors, or staff.

The Paris Market is essentially like an antique shop, museum, and classy cafe all came together at once. It has a perfect vibe and aesthetic that is honestly very calming when you've been rushing around the streets of Savannah prior to walking in the door. I highly recommend getting any flavor of latte (hot or iced) as well as their incredible Parisian hot chocolate. Both were delicious and actually worth the $6/$7 price tag! Then, you can stroll around the main level and lower level shop and admire all of the treasures. I can't wait to visit again soon!

We had really high hopes for The Paris Market and left a little disappointed. From the name and…read morebranding, we expected more of a true Parisian café experience with great pastries, little snacks, desserts, and a cozy coffee shop atmosphere. Instead, there were only a few macarons, maybe one sandwich option, and the café itself was...pretty much nonexistent. The retail side also felt a little underwhelming. The space is nice, but a lot of the merchandise was sourced from vendors you commonly see at the larger merchandise markets, so it didn't feel as unique or curated as we expected. That said, we're still glad we stopped in if you're nearby. It just didn't quite live up to the experience we had imagined

There is a juxtaposition of old and new here, but sometimes it is hard to tell what is old and what is new. For antique items, gentle restoration is given. The charm is certainly low-country: a hodge-podge of items--tea cups, plates, furniture, rugs, etc. This is a good place to find decoration for homes if you like southern charm. Check it out.

The location of the store is in a historic brick building that feels open and airy with a lot of light as you peruse around the shop. I actually discovered GCD on Instagram as I was browsing stores in the area for some furniture for my apartment. I really liked the photos they posted, so decided to pop in over the weekend. The gentleman who was working the shop was extremely friendly and flagged some of the limited time sales they had taking place. I really liked the mix of old and modern throughout the store. The way it is designed and arranged gives you a good illustration of how some of the furniture and decor could be arranged in your own home. I was particularly interested in the vintage glassware they had -- it all seemed really unique and like conversation pieces. If you happen to be near Columbia Square, definitely check out GCD and say hello.
