I don't mind the water taxi. I've only taken it a couple of times, but the two times that I did, it definitely pulled through for me. The staff, in the summer, seemed to be the college kid types-so they were chatty, a little awkward but nice. read more

We took the Shorline Water Taxi to and from Navy Pier. It was a fun way to travel and see the city skyline from the river/lake view. I recommend it. It was nice and relaxing to be out of the traffic and saved us from walking even more. I wish I had known about the water taxis last spring since our hotel was across the street. It would have saved us a long walk to Willis Tower. read more

Did an afternoon tour while on my visit to Chicago. The boat was nice, has a bar, bathroom and a place to sit for everyone (I've been on tours where you have to stand for an hour). The tour was a little longer than 75 minutes which nice because it made us feel like we really got our money's worth. Lastly, our tour guide, Nick was super informative, well versed and funny. He really did a great job. Additionally, our bar tender Dave did a great job and was very kind. We had a great time and learned a lot. read more

This is not your usual boat rde. From beginning to end, this was a stand out experience. The ticket sellers were friendly and courteous. The staff on board the ship were AWESOME! So, knowledgeable and humorous and professional. One might balk at the cost, but honestly, it's a great way to see and hear about the architectural marvel that is Chicago. read more

Great way to get from union station to Navy Pier with three young children. Kind of pricey. Cost $40 for three adults and three children. But worth it! Kids loved the ride! Everyone was very helpful. Especially Tyler who helped us get stroller onto the boat. read more

We enjoyed our 75min tour with Javier. He was fun and jovial. Had excellent knowledge about all the buildings and their history. He recommended a deep dish pizza to try check out as a specialty dish. The boat was clean and crew were friendly. The drinks at the bar were tasty and affordable. I would definitely recommend the tour. read more

It might cost a little more than an actual taxi (depending on how many people are with you), but it's a bit more fun and you don't have to worry about the driver hitting a pedestrian or parked car or running a red light or getting a speeding ticket or.... The staff was friendly, and the ride was cool despite the choppiness of the water. read more

After a long morning at the Field Museum and then Shedd Aquarium, we were a bit worn out and suddenly the walk to Navy Pier seemed suddenly to be a bit of a hurdle. There was one last call for the water taxi over Lake Michigan and we decided to take it. There was nothing notable about this taxi, but it was a nice ride over Lake Michigan nonetheless. read more

They allegedly go from Union Station up to Erie. However, the ticket vendor didn't know the times for the next one. Nor did the greeter. The information they had published referred to the web site. either be a tourist service to Navy Pier or not. just don't be a chain jerker and not know your own darned schedule! read more

The architecture tour with Sarah was very entertaining and relaxing after a long day of traveling and walking. I'm not a fan of history or architecture but, Sarah made it all very interesting with humor and fun facts. She was very knowledgable of Chicago's architecture and history. She answered all questions confidently and with some pizazz. Make sure to get your tickets as soon as you get to Navy Pier because they sell out FAST! We took ours on a Saturday at 6:30 and 30 minutes later that time slot was sold out. I've already started to recommend her and Shoreline tours to others! read more

We had an amazing time!! I took two of my girlfriends (who are both from out of town) to Chicago for one of their birthdays and this was our favorite thing we did all day! The guide was extremely knowledgable and was a very talented speaker. You learn so many interesting facts and I now get to walk around Chicago knowing the history and fun facts about some of the amazing architecture. Lifelong Chicago resident, took my first water taxi ride this weekend: Union Station to Navy Pier. Would do this again in a heartbeat! Quick and pleasant trip from Point A to Point B, with the chance to see the city from a completely different vantage point - definitely a cut above the average taxi ride (and less expensive too - $10 per adult.) It's a great experience. Better view of the city and WAY better than a street taxi! It's kinda expensive but worth it.

We decided to do the Architecture Tour first thing in the morning (July 5). We really just wanted to have a view of the city from the river-- but we got so much more. Our guide was Heather-- and she was AMAZING. She couldn't have been more knowledgeable on the history of the city and it's amazing buildings and architecture style. Not only was she informative, but she was witty and fun and brought a little excitement to the early morning tour. I thought the boat ride and scenery were amazing and WELL worth the money spent on the ticket. But to be honest, I am writing this review to say-- Heather-- YOU'RE THE BOMB! read more

Don't waste your money here. We bought a day pass so we could get from the Michigan Avenue stop to the Shedd Museum stop and back. We ended up spending a total of 1 hr and 45 minutes just waiting around for taxis then when we got to Navy Pier and tried to get the last leg of our trip, back to Michigan Ave, we were told we missed the last taxi and forfeited our money. If we hadn't spent so much time waiting for the other boats, we would have been fine. You are better off taking a water tour on Wendella and taking normal taxis to get around. read more

This was the only way to travel to Soldier Field, the Field Museum or the Aquarium in style, and you have a great view while doing it. O,h and their architecture tour is also fantastic, and I don't do 'tours'. read more
