Let that sink in for a moment before I begin this review. Some background: I've been frequenting this rest stop ever since I met my husband (then boyfriend) back in 2012. His family lives in central Kansas and this stop is **roughly** halfway between KC and where most of them live. We both have always agreed that it's a solid store and likely the best one in eastern Kansas, before you hit bigger cities that have QTs available. It was a record breaking cold day the last time I was here with my family and we stopped as per usual for a quick restroom break and to pick up a bottle of water or two before continuing on our journey west. As is has been every other time I've been here over the past decade, it was clean, the folks working courteous, the bathrooms well stocked, and plenty of snacks and beverages to choose from. So, what makes this place 4 instead of 5 stars you might ask? Just a few small things: 1. they only carry one brand of sparkling water and are often out of it. That's my number one request at any rest stop these days and on my last visit here I snagged the very last bottle, I'm sure to someone else's dismay. 2. It's a great convenience store/ gas station but it just can't compare to the kings in this category like WaWa and QuikTrip. I will say though, what sets this spot from the others is consistency. This stop has come through for me on many occasions and I'm sure will continue to do so for years to come.

Also, if you plan to clean off your windshield while pumping gas, you may want to keep driving as more often than not, there is no glass cleaner available. First of all, I didn't use the family restroom and got to explore the regular women's room. Which much to my surprise was super clean and nice. Next time I'm here I'm taking my daughter into this restroom and avoiding the family restroom all together. This really set the tone for me and then we tried the fried pies! I looked them up on our way home (while I was enjoying my pie) and it turns out it's a family run business out of Oklahoma that has a few shops in independently run gas stations around the midwest and great plains. I loved their story, and the pies were so fun. Very tasty. I won't say it's the best pie I've ever had, but the novelty of it and the freshness of getting it right there made for a super fun roadside stop. Key takeaway: avoid the family restroom and take your child into the regular one - it's gonna be better.

Bruh how is this even listed as a gas station? It's not a…read morestation- it's a pump. Singular. It's for long haul truckers, government and fleet vehicles. And, one night under the July stars at 3:42 AM in the "town" of Admire, Kansas (population 130), it hosted my sputtering certified pre owned Lexus. This part of Kansas is built like God himself forgot about it while sculpting the cooler parts of the country. But the single pump under a single light in a largely vacant lot held gas. And the petroleum flowed as soon as my discover card swiped. I filled up with reasonably priced gas as my beloved girlfriend (name redacted, she goes to a different school so you wouldn't know her) popped a squat in the field nearby- the nearest public restroom was probably 50 miles away. I do not recommend this, she received a bug bite on a place that my youth pastor recommended I only see after our nuptials. But aside from this- This pump is why I'm not stuck being devoured by Rural Kansans. Big fan of anything that assists me in the process of getting the hell out of that state.

While traveling I don't like to feel like I've gotten off on an exit straight into the twilight zone. So, this was bookmarked for me on my I-70 road trip so I'd know (hopefully) where clean bathrooms could be found. This gas station looks a bit dumpy from the exterior and I almost bailed on it. But we gave it a shot. The bathrooms are clean and perfectly serviceable. Cleanest ever? Homey? No. Just a typical utilitarian gas station bathroom, which was thankfully clean and stocked with TP, soap and paper towels. The convenience store offered a cheap fountain drink special which was nice; I needed something to perk me up. The lady at the counter was friendly. Hardly anyone else was there so getting gas and checking out was quick and easy. Selection at small convenience store very basic. Bottom line- if all u want is gas and a clean pit stop, come on by. But don't go out of your way if you need more options or expect more than the basics.
