Best vacation, food was amazing, owners and staff were wonderful. From the start to the last day was so amazing non stop. I never write reviews because I'm lazy, but I would feel guilty if I didn't review Shoshone Lodge. Our family group plus friends consisted of 15 people aged 5-80. We do a family vacation every year so I have a lot to compare to. Shoshone was our best ever. I don't know where Betsy and Mike find their employees but they are true gems! Everyone was cheerful, helpful, and very accommodating. Always going above and beyond. The food was fabulous and plentiful, the activities well organized and fun for everyone. There are plenty of activities from guided tours in Yellowstone, guided horseback trail rides in some of the most beautiful mountain country, trips to Cody for white water rafting, shopping, and the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum. The staff are excellent, friendly, and always helpful with anything you need. Betsy and Mike are amazing hosts and went a step beyond to ensure you not only enjoyed your stay but all of your needs were met. My party of 4 and 2 dogs stayed at the Shoshone lodge Saturday night in June. Loved it. Staff was able to let us check in early and of course we needed to leaved to the Lamar valley and didn't want to drag our belongings along. We stayed at the Bighorn Bungalow. Wished we could have stayed at the place the whole time but due to our late booking, we were only able to do that one night. That cabin was very spacious, had 2 bedrooms, 2 queen beds in each and also a pullout bed in the living room. 2 bathroom which was nice, washer and dryer. A plus for us was the kitchen. did we miss microwave and fridge? Yes!!!They also had benches to sit on the front porch, plus grill. Very relaxing! Extra tips 20 per pet/ night. Playgrounds for kids, one which is fenced. Also has zip lining right across the street. Horse back riding that's across from our cabin. This place also has a dining area. They do recommend making dinner reservations. We didn't get to eat the food but will definitely wanna come back to stay at the cabins and try it. Staff are friendly! Offers free ice bag/day. I wish my Yellowstone visit had this as home base for the entire trip. The staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant and great room were immediately inviting and food was delicious. The lodge itself was perfect, the right amount of rustic while being comfortable and safe. On our only night, the ridge above the lodge had two grizzlies observing us for a few minutes but kept their distance and eventually walked away.....this is, after all, bear country! This is a small family owed lodge with beautiful, clean cabins, amazing staff, and a restaurant that serves home cooked type meals and homemade desserts. It is right outside the east entrance of Yellowstone. I have had the pleasure of staying here about 8 times over the last 15 or so years and hope to be able to stay with them many more times. Every stay has been always been a wonderful experience. I almost don't want other people to know about it so that I can always get a reservation and keep it all to myself. However to be fair, I really do want other people to be able to enjoy this amazing place too. In saying that, keep in mind that you do need to make reservations as soon as you know you will be visiting the Yellowstone area because it tends to fill up fast. The owners and staff are so accommodating and will do most anything to make your stay more enjoyable. During this recent stay we didn't get in till 2 in the morning. They had a key ready for us and the lights already on in the cabin. This is a much better choice than staying inside the park and it's well worth the extra time and drive to get there. Such a great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone! Only 3 miles outside of the East Gate. My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon. The staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome during this special time for us. Champagne was waiting in the cabin for us and they made a point to throw a few extra logs on the fire for us when we said we were wanting to make 'smores for dessert (in which they provide all of the fixings, free of charge). Restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast portions were very large, with home made sausage patties and home maid hash browns. Dinner was hit or miss. Steak was great, fish, not so much. Cabins were perfect! They were enough to remind you that you were in the wilderness, but nice enough that you didn't feel like you were camping. Horse back riding was also available. Everything from 1 hour trips to all day/overnight trips. Extremely glad we chose to stay here for the beginning of our honeymoon and can't wait to return! read more

I'm basing this review on what my "young adult" kids have reported. We visit the Cody, Wyoming area almost annually and my boys love horse back riding. We've tried different places for this in past years and all have been pleasant experiences, but this trip, the boys went riding without us. Perhaps it was having mom and dad absent from the fun, but all three boys said this was the best horseback riding experience to date. They all mentioned that at some times, the ride was challenging, which they enjoyed. They also said the wrangler didn't talk much, but they didn't seem to care. Upon their return, I asked them which ride they'd prefer and all three said, "This one". Do wish the wrangler would have made a point to take a picture of the guys on their horses, but that's just moms perspective. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Shoshone Lodge and we had an amazing time! We did the horseback riding and our guide Olivia was AWESOME, we came across a bear on our way back and she handled it impressively! We also had very friendly and knowledgeable waitresses I believe their names were Emily and Jess. If I ever have the chance to visit Wyoming again I will absolutely be staying at the Shoshone Lodge again! read more

This place deserves nothing less than a 5 star review. From booking my cabin, to departure, everything was smooth. The people there seem to really enjoy what they do and will take the time out of their day to give you tips, directions, and just to make sure your time there is excellent. The cabin was perfect...just what we needed...and very clean. The food was delicious!!!! And the views, location, and distance from the East Entrance of Yellowstone couldn't have been better. They have horses there which we visited each evening, as well as the Shoshone River which was lovely to hear with the windows open as we fell asleep. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

We can't speak highly enough of our experience..... we stayed in cabin 20 for 4 nights. It was huge and had a view of the horses. We ate two meals in the lodge and both were great. We also took two horseback riding tours and were so impressed every step of the way. We loved sitting by the fire at night, eating far too many free s'mores and even listening to the wranglers sing and play their guitars one evening. We told them that our son was turning 14 when we were there, and asked if we could do something special for him. They made him a HUGE homemade chocolate cake..... honestly the best chocolate cake we have ever eaten! They let us borrow bear spray and poles to go fishing, all at no charge. Don't hesitate to stay here, you won't want to leave! In fact we are going back for a final night before we fly home and can't wait! read more

My family and I just stayed at the lodge for 4 nights. The cabin was clean and the staff went above and beyond. Everyone was very friendly and Indiana Mike talked with all of us like we knew him for years. I would recommend this place to anyone and we are already planning our next trip back. read more
