And as lovely as she is as a two story venue, I hold just as equal appreciation and admiration for the history that she displays both within and without. In front of this building right off Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport, is the large statue of this city's, once a town's, namesake, Captain Henry Miller Shreve (Yelp Check In-Captain Henry Miller Shreve Statue! He adores selfie-seekers, just fyi, so selfie on, out front of here with the Captain!) Also quite appropriate is the placement of the Captain Shreve statue here, as you can see the Red River from here, where Shreve and his steam vessel the Heliopolis helped clear the aforementioned nearby waterway of the miles-long dastardly debris known infamously as The Great Raft! The interior of this theater pays further homage with large marble postings dedicated to both Shreve, and on the flip side, the Heliopolis. The gorgeous venue itself, has excellent acoustics, and great seating all around. The Shreveport Symphony and Ballet give unforgettable performances here often, and there are also world wide stars and touring shows that house here on occasion. The gorgeous structure itself seems to add that much more glory to an already glorious evening or matinee afternoon.

No customer service skills at all. Communicating with her is a long drown out process. Getting responses to e-mails takes days at a time. Will not get on the phone. When you see her in person at the school, she will barely notice you. This is the first kids' activity I been to where the owner has not taken a little time to get to know the students and families, other than in the class she teaches. Do not set up any automatic payment at this school, because you will not get any money back if you can't attend classes or school is shut down (one NOT interactive video a week is not worth the tuition) due to pandemic, only school credit. Only pay for the recital the day before money due. Again, if it is slimed down from being in a theater you paid for to just her studio, and you can't attend due to you having more than two people needing to be in that studio (AKA other small children, and no babysitter), don't expect to get your money back. Only school credit, if she is feeling generous. Therefore, unless you are planning to go back to this school, expect to lose you money. Please also take note of the name of any reviews posted at the same time as this one. The owner has a tendency whenever she receives a bad review to go on that site, along with family and teachers, and give herself 5-star reviews.

I saw Blue Man Group here last night, as a belated birthday present from my wife (We've always wanted to catch them out in Vegas at the Venetian, but usually get distracted by something else or other once we're out there, which is easy to do!). The show was amazing! It was one of the most energetic, intensely creative and funny live performances I have EVER seen! We LOVED it! We are so thrilled to have finally caught their show after all these years! And there's no place we would have rather seen BMG other than The Venetian! The Strand was the perfect host for this show! We LOVE this venue! (This review is an update! See my previous review here on Yelp!) We are VERY excited about this upcoming season at The Strand! BMG plays one more show here tonight at 8pm. Catch it if you can! It's fantastic! Here's some other highlights for this season, check the website for other shows and dates as there are many, many more! He continued to return to here as the place where he got his first big break. Not only did he return numerous times between 1956 and his death in 1977, but he hired Shreveport native James Burton to be an integral part of his  band and stage show. Interesting factoid... the phrase "Elvis has left the building" was first uttered here in Shreveport at the Hirsch Coliseum in 1956. This life-sized statue is in front of the memorial auditorium on, of course, Elvis Presley Way. The one, the only, Elvis Presley. The caption at the bottom records his introduction, "Ladies and gentlemen, you've never heard of this young man before, but one day you'll be able to tell your children and grandchildren that you heard musical history made tonight."
