The ability to make an appointment at this centre rather than having to wait at a tradtional donor session is absolutely great - you turn up, you donate and you're off again within 45 minutes! The centre is clean and pleasant and the waiting room is more akin to a doctors surgery than waiting room for a donor session. The booking system works really well - and after your donation, you can make another appointment straight away before you leave. The smallest issue is that parking is limited, unless you go to donate after the bulk of staff at Radio Gloucestershire have left work for the day!! I've been a donor for a long time, but always go to the donor centre now rather than a mobile donation session - it's just much simpler.

Staff are very friendly, and chat with you while you donate. I have only had one aborted donation at this centre, but that was probably me moving my arm slightly between them locating a vein and putting the needle in. They also have a large biscuit-basket for when you are finished, a good selection of newspapers, and they make you a nice cup of tea afterwards. There are slight problems - it's a bit of a way out of the centre of Gloucester if you are walking (but it's in close proximity of the hospital, which is probably a good thing) and it can be a bit hard to get an appointment. But all in all, who needs to wait for ages in a chilly church hall when you can donate at a centre such as this?

The surgery itself is conveniently located in the centre of town although apparently they are thinking of moving it to a combined location with the other surgeries in Tewkesbury at some later date but I am not sure when. Overall if you are looking for a doctors surgery in Tewkesbury I would recommend joining Jesmond House Practice.

Automated phone in system to allow for queued calling rather than a dial tone. Offers a daily phone in for doctor/nurse and has computerised check in on arrival at the waiting room. Waiting facilities are basic with a fence off toddler play area (which sadly lacks many toys) Variety of magazines in waiting area although no childrens books, a wide range of medical information leaflets and posters are displayed around the waiting area. Appointments can be difficult to obtain at busier times if you need/wish to see a specific doctor. Phlebotamist also does collection from this clinic.
