The competitive nature of that program and discipline didn't build her confidence much. Here, the practice is focused on the individual but also as a part of the collective team. No real sparring yet in the Little Samurai class, only some practice punches and kicks with chest protectors. Lots of punching bag practice for strength building and training. Lots of calisthenics as well with lunges, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, frog jumps, burpees, etc. Skills that they can use their whole lives and get stronger with. At the same time, there will be fun games like tag, dodgeball, red light green light to keep their interest and to work on reflexes. Excellent training in focus and active listening as well with focus claps, raising hands to speak, caring for others and awareness of everyone's space. These things I have not encountered in any other studio/dojo. I've seen many places that allow disruptive students or even parents. In contrast, here at 1st class, they don't teach blind discipline towards any instructor/owner but respect for one's self and each other. This alone is what keeps us coming back. This is what schools don't teach enough of. Not to mention the actual martial arts she is learning here. Channeling their chi into a strong Aiya, learning how to punch and kick correctly in self defense. Amazing program for little ones. Instructors are all black belts who are not only cordial, but also gentle yet firm. We fit in very well here and would highly recommend this program for little ones.

It went by a little fast but I'm not sure if my little one could handle and hr long class though. Besides the distance for us, we would have committed. We may consider later.

**Extremely deceptive billing and cancellation practices -- stay away from Blink Gardena**…read more I strongly recommend staying away from Blink Gardena. My experience with their cancellation process and billing has been absolutely unacceptable. Here is exactly what happened: **February 27:** After I moved away, I called Blink Gardena and asked to cancel my membership. They refused to cancel it and told me that I was required to continue paying until I had completed the full one-year commitment. I was unhappy with that, but I accepted it and continued paying as they required. **August 3:** After fulfilling that obligation, I called Blink Gardena again and clearly asked them to cancel my membership. A male employee at the front desk told me, **"Okay."** I had every reason to believe my membership had been canceled. **August 4:** I checked my account and discovered that immediately after my cancellation call on August 3, Blink had charged me **another annual fee for a second year.** So I called them again and asked a very simple question: **I called yesterday and you told me my membership was canceled. Why did you charge me another annual fee immediately afterward?** What happened next was unbelievable. The **same male employee who had told me "Okay" the day before** then demanded that **I provide proof that I had asked to cancel my membership.** Seriously? I was speaking to the same person who had personally taken my cancellation request less than 24 hours earlier, and now he wanted *me* to prove that the conversation had happened. How is a customer supposed to provide "proof" of a verbal cancellation request made by phone to your own employee? More importantly, why should the burden be on the customer when Blink should have its own account records, employee notes, call records, and billing history? The sequence of events is very simple: I asked to cancel after moving on February 27. They refused and required me to keep paying for the full year. I complied. On August 3, I called again and was explicitly told "Okay" when I asked to cancel. Immediately afterward, they charged me another annual fee. When I discovered it the next day and complained, the very employee who had accepted my cancellation demanded that I prove I had canceled. This goes far beyond poor customer service. In my experience, these billing and cancellation practices are **extremely deceptive and predatory**. Making it difficult for customers to leave is bad enough; charging another annual fee immediately after a cancellation request and then pretending the customer must prove that the cancellation request happened is outrageous. If you are considering joining Blink Gardena, **document EVERYTHING.** Do not rely on a phone conversation. Get cancellation confirmation in writing, save every email and screenshot, record the date and time of every call, and closely monitor your credit card or bank account afterward. I would absolutely never recommend this gym.
