I raised this with a member of staff and astonishingly they told me that management had cut the hours of the cleaners leaving the gym trainers to do the rest! So if mid workout your personal trainer needs to nip into the gents to change a toilet roll holder that's empty (they're often empty nowadays) don't be surprised! These little penny pinching ideas probably excite the accountants and boost bonuses for the execs but they demotivate the gym staff, annoy the gym members and generally result in a poor experience for both staff and customers.

There is a tiger walkway that goes above the enclosure and at one point you can be just inches away on the other side of the wire netting if they are snoozing on the platform. Also worth a mention is the reptile house. Again, you can be up close to the crocodiles and view them from above and below the water. Also the temperature in here has to be kept really warm so it is a great place to go and warm up for a few minutes if you are visiting on a chilly day, which as Thrigby is open almost every day of the year is quite likely. As well as a children's play area there is a tree top walk and a long bridge across the big pond where you can see birds of many sorts. There are monkeys and big cats too.
