Went to Manko's last night (Friday) and before that, a Tuesday. Wanted to do a quick review…read more Summary - lovely place, good food, nice people - would highly recommend! For context, we are American, but pretty much no-one else in the place were tourists as far as I could make out.
At the door we were greeted with a smile by Samuel - charming, polite, but you definitely wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of this guy! (also if we had just rolled up on a Friday with no reservation it might have been a problem, but he recognized us from the Tuesday). Inside, the hostess was very beautiful and exchanged compliments with my wife - again, charming and friendly. And inside, Gucci was very efficient and (on the Tuesday when we ate) was very detail oriented - knew all about the food and drinks and exactly how he wanted them made by his bartender. On the Friday "people" (very funny and charming guy) and Nelson (more serious but still friendly!) were very, very busy making drinks for the large crowd at the bar. The crowd was all well dressed, mostly 30+ I think, very happy and friendly.
Side note - we ate there on the Tuesday from the full menu and all was very good. This being Paris, they are not geared for eating at the bar, but Gucci made an exception and asked the chef and so we were able to try the dishes - excellent!
Oh, final thing, we left around 1am (I think!) and only just realized as we left the place had a nightclub at the back - people dancing, bottle service, music etc. Too crazy for this old(er) couple, but looked like a lot of fun for the well-heeled 30+ crowd.
I see other reviews with pics of the owner - didn't meet or see him, but whoever he is, he has some very good staff here - every one was right on point, friendly, efficient, a real credit to the place. Merci beaucoup Manko's!
