Jamie W and I have been through Barcelona-El Prat Airport several times now, and our track record for food here had been rather abysmal. That is, until we stepped up to the counter of this gourmet deli kiosk in Terminal One. The stacks of baguette and focaccia sandwiches looked really appetizing along with the stuffed croissants and other baked goods.
We decided to take a seat and have lunch before our flight back to the states. Jamie decided on the 7,95€ Bocadillo con Tomate, which featured fresh tomato slices, anchovies, and manchego cheese in a split whole grain baguette rubbed with more fresh tomatoes and olive oil (photo https://yelp.to/406s1CB0p5). That was a yummy, traditional Catalan-style treat.
I went for the 11,5€ Cogollos Cesar con Jamon, a delightful Catalan Caesar salad with hearts of romaine lettuce leaves, Idiazabal cheese shavings, green Castelvetrano olives, chunks of vine ripe tomatoes, and a hefty potion of jamon iberico, and I ladled it with a rather rich Caesar dressing (photo: https://yelp.to/Uxa4VP2CBm). It was unexpectedly delicious, just the right combination of fresh Spanish ingredients. We'll remember this spot.
