The rating would be one and half stars if possible but as that is not an option, one star it is. My…read moregirlfriend and I really wanted to give this Mattress Firm location five stars, especially after a strong start with the sales representative we worked with. Sadly, the final experience was soured and a reminder that it is not how you start but how you finish. While we enjoy the mattress, we will not be returning when it is time to furnish the remaining rooms of our new home. Initially, our experience was positive when we walked into the showroom. We were greeted by a knowledgeable sales agent who immediately helped us narrow down several beds within our budget. As we were furnishing the master bedroom first, we were willing to treat ourselves and opt for a higher end mattress. The sales agent was courteous, patient and explained the ins and out of each mattress type. Overall the selection process and payment was not only painless but also an overall pleasant experience. That would be the high point as Matress Firm would go on to snatch a one star review from the jaws of a five star. The sales person, Albert recommended an adjustable base to accompany our matresss. We had some concerns as neither of us had any experience with an adjustable base. We inquired about the compatiblity with an existing bedframe and the additional height to the height of the mattress. The sales agent glossed over our concerns stating that the frame would work with slats which was correct and that the adjustable base only added six inches. Admittedly, six inches did not sound terrible and we were under the impression that the base could be returned. Feeling confident with our purchased we finalized the amount on the screen and walked out shortly after looking forward to our new bed! Delivery went smoothly with the matress and adjustable base delivered the next day. It was immediately noticeable that the adjustable base made the mattress sit solidly higher than our two nightstands. We would have to reach down to reach anything, and we knew before even trying it that the adjustable base was not going to work for us. We moved the unused base to our guest room and made note to schedule a return. When we called Matress Firm, the very next day we learned the adjustable base was not returnable per company policy. We thought this must be a mistake but upon checking our electronic receipt there was indeed a non-returnable clause that our sales agent conveniently forgot to disclose. This so called clause was never shown on screen to swipe my credit card or mentioned in the terms and conditions of the items being purchased. We reached out to both the store and the corporate support number, but were stonewalled. Albert who was out on vacation was to be informed to call us back. He never returned our call and tooo the coward way out. Faced with the prospect of eating a 500 dollar loss and stuck with adjustable base of which we have no use for, I'm thankful I paid for the purchase for with my American Express and that AmEx was able to reimburse us for the base. We would have rather had a sales person who was honest and less knowledgeable and/or friendly than a wolf in sheep clothing who speaks half truths to make the sale. We had already planned to spend the money and a large amount at that. There was no need to be vague about the return policy. As shady as this company is, it's amazing they went bankrupt and in debt while misleading customers and lining their pockets. Do yourself a favor, patronize any other mattress store if you can or if you must, ensure you have some form of purchase protection.

Al walked us thru several mattresses, giving very informative analysis on each on, and gave honest opinions on them. With his wealth of knowledge, he coached us into making the best decision and we purchased the mattress that was perfect for us. We had our minds set on a certain brand, and all he asked, was to let him do his job and for us to be open-minded. We're extremely glad we listened! Kudos to Al and his professionalism, knowledge, and ability to make this process extremely easy! Also want to thank Lisa for her awesome customer service throughout this process. When Al wasn't at work during our second visit to the store, Lisa was just as reliable, professional, and welcoming. These two deserve their recognition, especially in a market where people want to get you and out.

He said the delivery team WOULD move it downstairs but not up any stairs and they would not move any furniture as moving the old mattress would be the same to them as removing it which they routinely did. (He said they removed mattresses unless there were any holes or stains in them.). Because the old mattress frame was Craftmatic, it was also considered to be the box spring so there was no problem moving that either. Salesman said they would do it but as it was the same as a removal he would just write "removal " on the order. Salesman upsold me two pillows (BOGO), a mattress pad, a five year warranty and Tempurpedic sheets designed to enhance the airflow on this cooling mattress. $$$$ While I continued to walk around the store, the music system ran its own ad saying if I bought x $ of furniture I would get a bonus gift card. I found Salesman who was unaware of this promotion. He then signed me up for it and said the bonus card will arrive in a week to ten days. (It's only been two days since I wrote this so I can't report on that now. ) R&F has a tracking system where I could see where the delivery truck was and when it would arrive. The men were pleasant and I asked them to not take anything off the truck until they moved the current bed downstairs. (I had done a lot of prep to make the easiest path through the house to do this.). He wasn't interested in seeing the bed or bedroom and said he would just put the old bed to the side. It wasn't clear to me if he intended to take the new bed inside and put it to the side while they moved the old one out or if he meant to put it to the side and not move the old one. It is a small house and a small bedroom and there was room for neither interpretation. Meanwhile the other man continued to unload the new bed from the truck. I told them to stop because I would not be accepting the delivery unless the other bed was moved. (As promised by the sales man). Now I had their attention. Both of us made phone calls. Mine was to the store manager. I never got the store manager. They gave me the salesman. The "store manager was busy". The driver came to me and said they would do it, but I would have to pay them extra. I asked how much. He said I could decide. You mean like a tip? I asked. Yes, he said. Fine. I said I fully intended to tip them anyway. It was a stinkin' hot and humid day. They were polite and cooperative. I felt bad for their having to move this additional heavy mattress. They set up both beds and tested the remotes. They went over the order with me. The sheets were missing from the delivery. The special sheets that salesman had described as necessary for the proper operation of the mattress. They said they would deliver them later maybe in a few days. My son tipped them and they left. I was on the phone again asking for the manager. Again the "manager was busy" and I found myself talking to Salesman once more. He said he was also a manager. I suggested maybe because of the nature of my complaint it was inappropriate for him to be taking it. I demanded the sheets be cancelled and a refund issued to my credit card. He said OK 3-5 business days. (Because a set of sheets was included upon registering the product. ). The bed also came with a mattress pad he had upsold me. He told me that the delivery men would be reprimanded for asking for extra money when HE WAS THE ONE WHO PROMISED SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT PERMITTED. The delivery men couldn't have been nicer under the circumstances. And since my complaint went to the person who caused the problem and because he made it worse by getting the innocent delivery men in trouble, Raymour and Flanagan, if you are reading this, you should have managers who do not have financial compensation "skin in the game" handling the unhappy customer calls or have sales staff in cahoots so that the complaints don't reach the manager. (Is there a manager?) Raymour and Flanigan delivery dept, I hope you are reading this and do not reprimand the delivery men for doing an exemplary job under pressure on one of the hottest and most humid days of the year. I would call And talk to you about this, but everything seems to be NO REPLY and no phone numbers. And frankly, I want to receive my gift card, my refund and have no further conversations with you. Your management policies and customer service are oxymorons. The one good star is for the delivery men. One empty star is for being handed off at the start. One empty star is for the salesman not knowing about the promotion being broadcast in the store. One empty star is for being upsold on two things that were included in the purchase. One empty star is for the lack of management responsibility. Value: the mattress is expensive, and so far, worth it
