On the one hand the temple has been the pioneering Jain site of worship in NJ, but on the other, it is now become very crowded and grown faster than it can manage. Even still, this has been the one temple we have been coming to for the last 16 years and likely the only temple we will ever visit on a routine basis.
What started as small building with some murthi's has now expanded into three working temples, with murthi's 4-5 feet tall, prayer books, and puja items. The main temple has 3 shwetambar murthi's and 2 digambar murthi's, one of which is Maharvir Bhagwan. They've added extra bathrooms on the outside and there's a rack near the entrance where you can leave your shoes before you enter. They've also made the most use of their property by building a scaled down version of shikharji, and a playground for the kids. There are new, clear road signs now, which weren't there even 4 years ago, and the animal enclosure (w PEACOCKS!!) is no longer in the way of traffic.
After your prayers, there's a community cafeteria on the opposite side of the main temple (also beautifully refurbished), which offers lunch and chai free of charge. However! It is common courtesy to eat and then donate to the temple, since you're not here to pig out!! I think they also serve breakfast and chai, but we've always come in the afternoon. read more
