Called on a Saturday morning for a boiler issue. Received a return call a few minutes from a woman who said they have a $450 service call because it's Saturday. Are you kidding me it's not 2am! She then went on to rudely say well they're not handymen and this is there rates. Called another company who was more professional and they came within 2 hours, fixed the problem and didn't cost half of what this ride company tried to steal. read more

Unprofessional as they come. I paid thousands of dollars as an apartment in a condo building, but when I called to clarify the bill (for the purpose of insurance reimbursement), Kimona literally closed the phone on me as part of a 30-second phone call. She refused to forward me an email she said she had sent our Board. Of note, Kimona is the manager here. When she needed the bill paid, she was nice and professional. Once the bill was paid, she slammed the phone. This is what you are dealing with you when you call Sideris. If you work with them, get everything you need before you pay the bill. Once you pay the bill, they will treat you rudely. read more

I'm not sure what the other reviewers mean about a charge for their quotes since i was not charged a fee for my estimate. Good but a caveat in the review on their electrician! Got work done with them in 2017. Wanted to get a NEST thermostat installed on a hot water radiator heat line. They did a fantastic job and were thorough to know what needed to be done. I wasn't a big fan of the electrician they worked with though. He made an extra hole (cause he needed to run a line from the thermostat to the valve) and didn't patch them up. I had to get another contractor to fix those. read more

had a leaky shower; Called Sidaris and set up an appointmen. they called day of said the plumber is 30 mins away. James, arrived within 30 mins. Very friendly very efficient and replaced the whole hot water/cold water and shower mechanism within 40 mins and left the bathroom spotless. Called the office to say what a great job they did and they sled for a yelp review. read more

Work done was shoddy for supposed professionals. Took much longer to have service turned back on than should have been and the bill was much higher than quoted. Not Honest! Terrible lies were told. My dad was discharged from the hospital and came home to a cold house. After settling him in with the help of EMT's and Hospice Team, I realized that my knowledge of boilers, water heaters and anything found in the basement was not second nature. I sought the help of a couple of family members who did a bit of troubleshooting but none of it worked. It was getting colder in the house by the minute and with the dropping temperature, I feared for the safety of my father. I went online after I took pictures of the make and model number of my dad's 30 year old boiler. I watched a couple of youtube videos to have a better Idea about what the issue could be or at minimum, know how to identify any parts. I did a google search for technicians that knew how to troubleshoot and fix this old boiler and a few companies came up. For some reason, John J. Sedaris was the company I called and it was the best decision I made. I called at 4:21PM and Mr. Sedaris answered on the 1st ring! He was very patient with me and put me at ease immediately. He was concerned but I felt safe and trusted his guidance while he had me open the cover to the boiler. He immediately saw the problem after I sent him some pics and said that someone from his team would arrive in about an hour. John Jr. came prepared with the part and it took home just a few minutes to swap it out and test. Heat was back on and all was back to normal. John Jr's service, professionalism and compassion were exceptional and I would highly recommend this company! As the other reviewer mentioned, this company doesn't offer a free estimate. They charge a flat fee to stop by and assess what you need done then quote a price. The only problem with this system is that they can quote you ANYTHING, and you're still on the hook for the service fee, no matter what. This is problematic, because they can quote you a very high, non competitive price, knowing you will not accept and then still pocket the fee. In the end I didn't contract them for the job, so I can't comment on the work and I'm not saying this sort of thing will definitely happen, but I thought I'd point out the potential pitfalls to others. Is it possible to assign negative stars? We hired Sideris to install a new boiler in our co-op. Approximately 8 months after installation, we suffered a serious leak that was flooding our basement. I called Sideris at about 6 pm, who first said that he couldn't send someone that evening. When I told him that the leak was serious and that we'd have to hire another plumber and charge the cost to Sideris, Sideris asked if the boiler wasn't even still under warranty. Incredulous, I then asked whether he intended to send someone or not. He relented, and told me he could send someone by 8 pm. At 10:30, someone from Sideris finally called. Poor service. High prices. Don't waste your time, especially for smaller jobs. I had two small, simple jobs, and was told they could do them, and they'd be there the next day, between 9 and 12. When they hadn't shown at 11:50, I called. Was told they were "on their way to me from the last job and should be there any minute." At 3:00, they still hadn't shown. I called again. "They apologize; they couldn't come in today," whatever that means, "but they can definitely do the job, and will give you a call this evening or tomorrow morning." By the next afternoon there was still no communication from them. At 3:00 I received an EMAIL stating they apologize, but can't take the job. No reason was given. In my humble opinion, this is INEXCUSABLE behavior for any business. Go with Sanitary Plumbing & Heating Corporation; they were extremely professional, prompt, and polite. read more

They came and supposed to have to find leak. but did not, and also we hire them for 2 jobs, both of them they failed to follow the specs. When we question them, they said they don't have to follow the specs. We had a main gas line shut off by Con Ed, they did not help us restore the line that has leak, only restore the line that has no leak to start with. And it also takes much longer than necessary to file our document for inspection, & also after inspection and to turn our gas back on. On top of all these, they are also more expensive than other plumbers. read more

The Sideris professionals did a fine job for us. They had done a job in one apartment of our building installing a thermostat for controlling the apartment's heat and we liked what they did on this small job We had a main gas line shut off by Con Ed which is a big deal. Sideris responded to us faster than the other 2 companies. They inspected the problem and gave us an estimate at no charge. Another company said they would not give an estimate without our paying for their time. Sideris found the gas leaks and made the repairs in a straightforward and due diligent manner. I was a contact person and I watched how consistently they performed troubleshooting in each apartment and in our boiler areas. They gave us information in timely fashion and solved the problem and navigated through the bramble of Department of Buildings and Con Ed inspection processes that can take forever if you pick the wrong plumber. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work and the competence of the people they sent in timely fashion to get our gas restored. read more

I called these guys because of an emergency situation in my bathroom. Within an hour, a plumber showed up. But instead of going to work on the pipes no-questions-asked, which would have left me with a hefty bill, he evaluated the problem as one that should be dealt with by my apartment building superintendent. He estimated that it could cost as much as $800 to fix the problem and suggested that I get the super to hire someone to do it, thus saving me money. The visit and consultation were completely free. Ten years ago I would have recommended them, even though they are far more expensive than other plumbers I use. But they seem to be in way over their heads on new technology. They installed very expensive new boiler, didn't quite finish (despite being paid in full) and there have been problems every year with it since.
