Anthony & Dom came immediately, and even earlier than they promised. They assessed the issues, offered solutions, began working right then/there. They handled tlhe plumbing issue with expertise, experience, and empathy. Absolutely awesome. If you need a mater plumber, this is the company. They were hugely helpful when national grid shut down the property I manage. I was completely melting down over this. But once I called Dominic I felt better. Once there, he explained what needed to be done and then it was done. They did a lot of work there, and handled Department of Buildings red tape/paperwork and obtained authorizations needed. National Grid told me we had to have a master plumber. So if that is what happened to you, take it from me - after you meet Dominic you will feel better. They are a good option for all plumbing - not just master plumbing work. George was also there a lot and he's so so AMAZING AS WELL. NOT ONCE did anyone talk to be like I was an idiot over not being mechanically inclined. I have no idea about plumbing. Unrelated to their services, but just witnessed one of their trucks hit a person while backing up to drive away and just drove away. Luckily it was minor since she was able to hit the van hard to alert the driver. The van was parked right next to and partially on a crosswalk, which should not have happened in the first place. The crosswalk was full of people so the driver should not have gone in reverse at all and waited till the street was clear. Wish these drivers would look out their side view mirrors before going in reverse and hitting a pedestrian..it could have been worse. read more

Had a problem with the heat in my house this morning. Making things worse was the temperature outdoors was below 32 degrees. I checked the pilot light for the Weil Mclein boiler in my basement -- despite several Attempts to light the pilot, it would not stay lit, and thus no heat in my house. So I called a couple of contrac I knew -- unfortunately they were not available to help. Hence, I decided to check on Yelp.com for heating specialists. Found Downtown Plumbing & Heating with positive reviews-- thus I decided to give them a call. i called around 11am, and got a dispatch for someone to come to my home by 2 - 3 Pm. At 1:23 pm, George arrived well ahead of time with the right part to quickly resolve the boiler issue. I am very happy with the service, and enjoying the warm heat on this cold night. Excellent service! Amazing efficiency, v experienced and skilled plumber and reasonable price. Details: I called in a panic about a leak at 7 am, technician called back within an hour to confirm details, plumber arrived v shortly thereafter, he diagnosed problem in 10 minutes. I was advised of exact price of replacement part and service. He went off to get a new replacement part and returned and installed v efficiently. Plumber they outsourced the work to this past saturday, think his name is George from his heavy accent. Called Friday for Saturday morning, we agreed on 12. 1pm rolls around and he's still a no show, i call him up and he basically forgot so he shows up at 1:30pm. Does the work, and i called the main line Saturday to leave a message to call me back so I can pay the invoice. Its Monday today, stepped away from my desk and i come back i see a missed call from the plumber and he's yelling and cursing via a voicemail saying that they tried to reach me all morning to settle the bill both him and the company, which i didn't receive any calls but the one call from him, basically straight lying. Terrible. Worker showed up drunk and stoned and refused to wear a mast in my house. Charged thousands of dollars for botched install of new water heater and multiple failed attempts to fix. Two weeks of no hot water until finally it was fixed. We were promised a 10% discount and were not given it. read more

Andre came in with the expertise which I have never seen before. He was knowledgeable of the existing setup we have. He knew the issue while right away which was frozen pipes. Yup frozen pipes in the winter. During the process he showed us cleary, the faulty areas in our furnace and plumbing system. Just spent an entire day waiting for William Rivera to appear. At 930 he was coming. Then said he had a flat and another job and would call after that job. At 5:30 I called, got his voicemail. He never responded. Called the company and they said they would have him call. It is 8 pm and nothing. I am glad my problem is not flooding. I wonder if I could charge for the day I spent waiting for nothing. A call would have been at least polite. Now I will use someone else. read more

Our kitchen sink was not draining well so I called these guys in the morning and spoke with their answering service, in less than 2 hours Dominic and his partner were at my door (granted their shop is not far from us). They quoted me two prices, best case and worse case scenarios. They tried the first fix, it didn't work, so proceeded to remove the trap to snake the line. That didn't work completely the first time, but two more attempts did the trick and some nasty stuff came out. The drain seems to work fine now. I paid the quoted price and am satisfied with the plumbing work. I appreciated their diligence, the only complaint I have is they severely scratched my hardwood floors, (originally I thought they were just scuffs on the floor from the work boots, but they have proven to be permanent). I'm now not sure if it was their boots or other equipment that made the marks, but I have been unable to buff or clean them off. My original 5 star rating has been reduced to 3, as I will now have to hire someone to fix the floor. read more

Had a bolier issue and have been unhappy with the last, oh, ten plumbers we've used. Asked around the neighborhood and everyone's response was "Don't know, but if you find a good one give me their number!" I ended up getting Downtown's recommendation from a contractor who I trust, and my search is over. I was 80% sure I didn't need anything replaced and they didn't try to throw expensive solutions out before they looked closely (been there too many times) or have even a hint of upsell during the call (ditto). They knew what they were doing, solved the problem for a price I was happy to pay, and I was back in business. Domenic has a great manner and is an excellent communicator. Everything, from phone calls to figure when they could come to doing the job and filling me in on what I had going on was handled professionally and to the satisfaction of anyone's standards. Called on a Tuesday at noon about my sink that wouldn't drain (despite me playing Mr Plumber to no avail). Yuri came by at 2, spent an hour or more with mechanical snake thingy and I had greatest drainage speeds I've had in years. Yuri also happily explained why an island sink always has challenges with draining (no air pipe) and I couldn't be happier with the service. I think it cost $225, not sure if that's high or not but I have a larger project that Yuri took a look at and will likely use them again assuming pricing not ridiculous. read more

These guys really came through for me. They were able to provide same day service at a reasonable rate. Willie and Antonio were prompt and friendly. They had all the tools and parts ready to go in their truck, so they were well prepared for any possible scenario. Most importantly, Willie remained calm, collected, and confident throughout. We had Downtown P&H visit our apartment to fix an overflowing toilet tank. Their customer service was available in the middle of the night and coached us on how to temporarily solve the problem until the plumber could come in the morning. William called us at 8 am, just like the operator said he would, and showed up to fix the issue within an hour. He was efficient, friendly, and detail oriented. Not only did he fix our plumbing problem, but he CLEANED our entire bathroom area around the toilet and the sink, replaced our problematic toilet flushing lever without being prompted, as well as noticing our bathroom door handle was loose and tightening it. We had a patchwork job done by an amatuer plumbler which caused two leaks under the sink. We called Downtown Plumbing on Saturday night during Labor Day weekend and he was able to send someone out by 9:00am Sunday morning. Not only did they show up but he was extremely respectful, knowledgeable and efficient. The job took about an hour to complete and after it was done, he trouble shot some other areas in the kitchen AND in the bathroom. Terrible service! Long story short, I waited almost 8 hours over the course of two days for the plumber to never show up. Willie said he would be at my apartment between 1-2 and never showed up. When I asked to ask when he thought he would be there, he repeatedly said he was just finishing another job up and would be there soon. Finally at 6pm, I asked to reschedule. He gave me this long guilt trip about how Friday is his day off, but he could come early in the morning. Again, he never showed and claimed that he could be here in a few hours. I totally understand that some jobs take longer than expected, but I took two days off work waiting for a guy to finish up another job and be right over. Maybe the other plumbers who work for the company are fine, but my experience was terrible. read more

Having your main sewer line back up during the Thanksgiving holiday is stressful enough, but trying to get a plumber to come out and do the right thing is even worse. These guys are the bomb. Fast, reliable, and they really know their stuff. I had two dishwasher hoses mistakenly replaced to stop a leak, and they came in and discovered that the real source of the problem was actually a cracked pipe under the sink. Would recommend them highly. read more
