In my frustration, I hopped onto Yelp and submitted a project request for a fabricator in my area. This turned out to be a HUGE blessing because we received several responses but the one that stood out the most was Greg from GT Stone Works. He quickly responded to my inquiry and was the most pleasant, respectful and incredibly thorough person we spoke with. He was highly knowledgeable about all things countertops and could not only answer all of our questions, but also asked us questions to help us think of things we hadn't thought about. We knew right away that we wanted to work with him and boy, are we so glad we did! Greg walked us through the entire process, was even super patient when we realized midway between his driving to us that we had to postpone the measuring until the sink was installed (we were newbies!), had solid vendors he uses to source the materials, and thoroughly communicated with us throughout the process. We decided to go with quartzite and he even FaceTimed us to make sure we were happy with where he was cutting out the pieces to get us precisely what we envisioned. If you in the market for a countertop, look no further than Greg. He will take care of you every step of the way and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. We worked with MJ to redo a built in cabinet in the main living area of our house as well as a…read morereplacement of a mantle. From the beginning Manuel was challenging to get ahold of (no responses on emails mostly). Work started a week later than we had agreed on and Initially the project was supposed to take 3 days - demo, install, finishing- and it was suggested that it could be done in one week. The project started September 25 2024 and was finally finished November 15, almost 2 months. During demo we had to ask them to stop because they did not tape off the space and spread huge amounts of dust throughout our house that we ended up needing to do lead and aesbestos testing to move forward (not to mention, I had to take a day off of work to clean up the mess created). We had to call and text and basically beg them to send people out to finish the work and we could tell we were a very low priority- mostly working Saturdays, canceling multiple times after committing to dates, unwilling to commit to days until a day or two in advance, etc. He pretended he would work around our schedule but if that was the case, this work would have NEVER been completed. I canceled plans 3 times during this process to make myself available to get this work done. After demo, I think they realized this job was more complicated than originally anticipated but instead of telling us that, Manuel just kept us guessing, unsure if the timeline had changed- he did not want to communicate specifics with us which we would have really appreciated and welcomed. We learned quickly that they were not particularly respectful of our space so we began taping up our own plastic space dividers to keep dust and fumes out of the rest of our living space. The workers were very nice and I believe the issue is with management rather than the workers themselves. In the end, the work is nice enough which is why I give 2 stars instead of 1. The finished work was absolutely not worth the headache and displacement we experienced to get it done. It was a truly painful experience. I have other cabinetry projects I would like to do but will absolutely not be hiring MJ Custom cabinetry again to do the work.

Throughout the process, I found Carolien and Tim to be extremely responsive, detail oriented and tasteful in their recommendations. Their subs were uniformly *excellent* and the work was scheduled efficiently. Drafting and plans were clean and detailed, fixture selection was very assured and I found their focus on executional excellence remarkable. The project was completed on budget and dramatically increased not just the value of our home, but the pleasure we take in it. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Two days later Alex provided an estimate, which was in line with our expectations since we already had two other estimates. Alex offered to stop by the following day to do measurements to prepare a three dimensional design, which we saw in the showroom a few days later. Within two weeks it was all finished (please see the before and after photo images below). George handled the customization and the attention to detail and quality was much appreciated. We had custom cabinets installed in the kitchen and bathrooms and since this was just the hallway we chose to save about 50% by going prefab modular - we are immensely pleased.
