The only slightly annoying bit is the transition from the 3rd green to the 4th tee - if you don't know the course it is quite difficult to find. Thankfully there was a queue on the 1st tee (which you walk by on the way) to direct us the first time around.

The reason I like to reintroduce myself to golf via Stepaside most years is that it is a very forgiving course!! Its one of the longer courses out there with a good number of par 4's and a few 5's... The fairways are long and wide and although the greens are a bit unkept at times its a super course considering how cheap it is! And cause its public no membership required just rock up on the morning and hope the rest of Dublin doesn't have the same golfing ambitions as you that morning!

I have played on many pitch & putt courses and this is still the best one I have played. The greens are probably the best maintained greens I have seen in Dublin. What sets this apart from other courses is that it is a real challenge. Too many courses are just flat greens with no variation. There are plenty of bunkers and then the seventh is a steep vertical challenge with a sloping green that has caused me plenty of problems over the years. Hole no 15 is a personal favourite, the shortest hole on the course and I hit a hole in one so will always remember that. They change the pin position often so it is never the same course the next time you go up there. Plenty of times I have swung wildly and sliced golf balls onto the road. It is in the middle of nowhere but one of those places you need to try if you are into pitch & putt or just an amateur like me!

Then turned and was at our backs on the longer back. Very challenging but doesn't beat you to death. Don't miss if you are golfing in Dublin area. The spirit of the great Christy O''Conner Sr. is still quite evident.

Perfect scoring conditions. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant upstairs is first class. The nines are all wonderful. The yellow nine (not part of the Championship Course) is fun. Shorter than the red and blue but still challenging with fescue and gorse lying in wait for offline shots. The signature 15th hole is so difficult even without wind. Beautiful, challenging, and fun. €193 gets you all 27 holes, €10 meal credit, and a yardage book. 10/10, would go broke here again. P.S. I shot a 77!

The course is beautiful to be sure- rolling hills and wetlands tied to the backdrop of palms and the sea- its really pretty remarkable. If you are not familiar with these types of courses (I was not) its easy to be fooled by the beauty because the course was tough-really tough! We had a caddy (no carts allowed) who shared a lot of great local history and stories of some of the pros that have played the course. Besides posting a score that most MLB pitchers fastballs can't reach, this was a great morning. The people were nice, the setting was amazing and the course was challenging. You get a lunch with your greens fees. For me it was a once in a lifetime type of course but walking the fairways, looking at the sea, and having a good laugh made this a very memorable course and experience.

One hole has the narrowest fairy in Europe, only 14 paces wide. Our caddie is also a member and knew every hole from front to back. Without him, we would still be out there trying to find our way. The décor is Azteca rainforest with lots of sound effects(rain, thunder and monkeys hanging from trees gave me a giggle even as an adult).

There is loads of audio noises to replicate being in the jungle so this adds a little fun to it and they animations, monkeys in the trees, there was also a swinging monkey so there was little surprises along the route. Play is kitted out well, there is lockers available to dump the jackets, handbags, etc. however they work with a €1 coin deposit system so come prepped with a €1 coin or the friendly staff can help break a note for you. There is also a cafe onsite, so you can hangout pre/post game... Usual options of teas/coffee/soft drinks and some snacks. There is also a gift store which I am sure the kids just love and is possibly one of them things parents resent (Mam, Dad... I want, I want....) Really enjoyed my evening here and would love to come back with another group of friends or treat my nieces and nephews here some day.
