I never gave children's stores much attention before the birth of my (ridiculously handsome) baby…read moreson, but after he was born, I became intimately acquainted with how expensive kids can be. Fortunately, places like Pinwheels help take the edge off of clothing and entertaining the little guy! Clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, games, strollers, swings: it's all here! And it's all a bargain! Lightly used? Just about everything seems about as close to brand new as possible; *I'd* certainly never know the difference. There's even a "diaper depot" (as I like to call it anyway): a drop box where you can donate extra diapers you no longer need, so that others less fortunate can take them for free; a heartwarming touch that immediately endeared me to this place. The owner is a vibrant, wonderful woman who immediately engaged us upon entering, and make the whole experience a true pleasure. And she has an eye for style, quality, and most important in a resale shop: cleanliness! We bought a pair of shoes and a few toys this time around, but I foresee many return visits to Pinwheels, and not just to re-sell the clothes my son outgrows. I'd rather shop here for his needs than any big box store in the Portland area.

I always have one caveat for consignment stores: must have friendly and helpful staff - after all, you Are asking people to buy (mostly) secondhand/used items. I popped in here 15 min before closing on a weekday and half expected the employees to grumble at me while they were trying to close the store. I found quite a number of items that I thought were "steals" for my kiddos. I would've loved more clothing options for my little ones, esp baby boys, but hey, we can't have it all. I would def recommend coming here.

The sales person said people get some really great deals at their store and they won't raise the price. That was awesome. I even found the A is for Activist baby book here and snagged it for my friend. There's an outstanding selection to choose from.

I was hesitant posting this as we have gotten very good stuff from this store and have been going…read morefor several years. Recently there has been an uptake in issues with toys we've bought. I'm giving them a 3 star review because they did offer refunds for each issue and apologies, and acknowledge we make mistakes, I am just bothered it's repeated and over the course of a couple of years. We haven't had issues with clothes or shoes but specifically with either toys missing entire pieces repeatedly or broken toys. First it was a build a bear wheelchair that was clearly taped together then broke same day we bought it. Then it was a pink baby stroller that had a gem over a missing screw so it never worked right. Then it was a wooden toy set that had broken pieces and then missing pieces. And recently we bought a train set that didn't even have the correct train pieces in it. They offered refunds for all and apologies so I do want to make that known, I feel as though if you know this is an issue, this shouldn't keep happening. My child gets her hopes up every time to then have to take it away from her. We were able to give away the train set and decided to not take the refund as my partner felt uncomfortable going back in. Saying you're human and we make mistakes is true, yet the issue needs to stop happening. Attacking people for leaving honest reviews isn't professional and I see a lot of that in the owners response. Yes it can be nice if they contact you first but it's not required. Your apologies doesn't negate the experience especially if it's a repeated experience. If you shop here, please make sure you count, check and quality check the toys you are getting. Luckily we live very very close and hasn't been a huge inconvenience but it could be for a family that's visiting out of town or doesn't live close. I do want to add something since the owner responded and I feel as though it should be said, if you're putting the blame on your staff consistently, then maybe the staff needs to change because these mistakes are costing customers and ultimately money for the business. Wish you guys well!

Their eclectic attire allows the whimsicle in every girl to be shown! I read the review by the other gal, and i am absolutely taken back by it. I have been in CHH many of times and found them to be absolutely friendly and outgoing to me. I am a lady who adores my own curves and embraces them with confidence. The selection of dresses and silhouettes presented to me was awesome and i found myself loving some aspect of every design. I like how every garment is different and not one is alike, it adds value and uniqueness to the store. I feel bad that Aimee had a hard time finding something that she loved in the Store, but i feel like if you were to come into the store knowing what they have and who their target market is, it would be completely inevitable to NOT love the store and want to go back for more. I am a very loyal customer to CHH and i appreciate their willingness to sustain a "Green" environment and clothing. When it comes to their clothing having "Stains" and "tear holes" in the lace, i think that the consumer needs to remember that this is vintage fabric, hand dyed and repurposed to create a specific vintage look to the attire. Every garment has its flaws, but for a specific reason and to create individuality throughout the designs presented in the store. I have spoken with the workers, and they buy garments out of the store because they love them and want to show off what the designers creates and is selling. It is also a very good way to show how to style the clothing and what to wear it with. Even though what they are wearing is not "buyable" for a customer right in front of them, it was once a good that could've been purchased. In that case, it is necessary to check into the store once a week or bi-weekly to see what new items the designers has brought in, since she is creating on a daily basis and restocking on a daily basis. When going to Camp Hollyhock, have in your mind that they are a whimsical company that is run off of the love of family and design. Basically, you get what you see when you walk in there and i feel that it is very important to check into the store once a week to see what new inventory they have and to try on multiple dresses of the same size, because not one thing fits the same. I am an AVID CAMP HOLLYHOCK LOVER! and i appreciate their one of a kind business :)

It's hard to peruse a boutique filled with pretty items and not want something! What kind of customer service is that? I've worked in sales for so many years and the correct thing is to follow up with showing the customer more items or items on sale or a smile at least. She was very judgmental since we walked in. The whole vibe in there was weird. Such a rude employee. I didn't get her name but because of this I don't recommend this shop and will tell all my friends to not shop there. Disgusting how people like that even have jobs.
