Great little cafe to stop if you're visiting the Canoe Museum (and also if you're not). The staff was friendly and helpful. I had the grilled veg and brie panini which had a good mix of different veggies and a generous helping of brie. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so you can enjoy the views. There's limited on-site parking but there's plenty of free parking just down the street at the park. read more

I made a stop in Peterborough on my way home from Montreal a few weeks ago. I had dinner with a dear friend at The Food Forrest. We like to have dessert and chat some more somewhere else. It is becoming a ritual. She suggested going to Silver Bean Cafe, which is next to Millenium Park. I was game. She said either we could walk over there or drive. I went with the latter, as it was a hot day. I drove us in my rental car over to the cafe. Parking is limited steps away from the cafe. I backed into a spot and we walked over. Thankfully, it wasn't all that busy on a Thursday evening. The way ordering goes is that you go into the cafe to place your order. You then sit outside on the patio with an animal marker and your order come to you. Yay! My friend got a vegan chocolate walnut cookie and an iced coffee. I got a large strawberry lemonade. I saw the person at the counter give a penguin marker to place on his table. I would have loved that one! Instead, we got a dinosaur marker, which made both of us smile. We frankly had way too much fun playing with it on the patio while we waited for our order. A nice man came over several minutes later with our order. The vegan chocolate walnut cookie was massive! I got to have some of it. It was delicious and chocolaty. I am pleased that there are vegan options at this cafe. My large strawberry lemonade was gigantic. It tasted so good. It wasn't insanely sweet. It was perfect, with the sweet strawberry taste meshing nicely with the tart lemon. I loved it. The patio is lovely. We spent a good couple of hours chatting away. You get a lovely view of the Otonabee River in the heart of downtown Peterborough. It's beautiful and the breeze was much needed! I would come back here for more desserts and sips. My oh my was this a beautiful little hidden gem of a café! It's tucked away from the busy fumes and down town city of Peterborough... you have to cross by foot on the rail way and there it is this beautiful little oasis destination. This cafe is facing a beautiful lake with a waterfront view .. the patio tables and chairs are very relaxing and comfortable. We ordered our food first and got it served as we seated ... the coffee here is amazing.. we enjoyed breakfast fresh fruits.. scrambled eggs you can decide what you want in your eggs.. i picked bacon cheddar .. the little pastries are ravishingly delicious .. Food in general: was freshly made and very delicious Service was exceptional . Staff is supper friendly .. you may also bring your dog with you it was another big deal as well.. It's just a pleasant surprise and a great way to start your morning ! Overall I definitely 100% recommend trying this beautiful cafe as it's one of a kind and definitely worth that beautiful scenic view of the lake If ever we go back to Peterborough we will definitely hit this joint in a heartbeat read more

Cafe right by the entrance of millenium park. Has some food items, coffee drinks, and ice cream. Very popular on weekends so be prepared to wait. Ice cream melts fast like before you even leave the area so better get it in a cup, portion was small. . Iced latte was watery and didn't have much coffee taste. Prices were reasonable but adds up quick. Overall area is nice, the park is nice, the cafe is convenient but if you're not in the park already, it's not worth a trip on its own. read more

We love this Cafe!! All summer long we take the kids almost weekly for a lunch and ice cream. There are so many healthy options and we can't get enough of the summer salads! The location is so kid friendly and the owners really make an effort to welcome the little ones. It's a must stop if your in the city and want a breath of fresh air. Had some family visiting who were not from Peterborough, thinking it was a great spot to grab some ice cream. The girl at the counter was beyond rude and impatient with us. Made it seem like she would rather be doing anything else but serving us. Wouldn't recommended coming here with people who have never been, it doesn't have a welcoming vibe. The Silver Bean calls itself the 'cottage in the city' and it's a perfect description. This is a friendly, casual, wonderful place in one of the most scenic and lovely locations in Peterborough. Come for a coffee, visit with friends, eat a giant cookie, or enjoy one of their fabulous meals - you won't be disappointed. The staff are funny, helpful, and have personality. The food is great (the chevre and pear sandwich is a favourite) and it's safe to say the iced coffee got me through last summer. The only drawback about the Silver Bean is that they close for the winter, making all of their loyal customers have a serious withdrawal during the frosty months! Looking forward to Spring to stroll down the path to the Silver Bean again. read more
