Dirty room and bed bugs! Booked Cabin 48 for September 9 - 11, 2022. Called on September 8 to inquire about an early check-in and was told we could check-in after noon on the 9th, because the cabin was being cleaned as we were speaking - great! Arrived around 1:30 pm, check-in went well and then things started to go downhill. - Opened the door to the cabin and there was a really strong musty smell as if the cabin had been locked up for a while after being exposed to campfire smoke. - The kitchen counter had dried up liquids on it. We brought paper towels and cleaned off the counter. - The bed came with a fitted sheet on the boxspring and the mattress, but we were told we had to bring our own linens, so we put a quilted mattress cover, a sheet, a comforter and two pillows over their fitted sheet. - Left the cabin to meet our friends and returned around 10;30 pm. Washed up and jumped in bed. - Woke around 7:00 am, grabbed coffee and told my wife that I slept badly. I told her I was dreaming that I had bugs crawling on my body and face. We both laughed until I went back in the room to make the bed and discovered brown and red splats all over our linens and pillows. No clue what was happening at this time. Pulled the bed from the wall and found trash on the floor (hearing plugs, toilet paper and tons of dust). Pulled our linens off and pulled off the campground's fitted sheets and there they were. Bed bugs on the corners of the boxspring and mattress. Called the office immediately and the owner came to the cabin. We were calm and cordial with her about the situation and she was the same with us. She refunded us all our money and told us to throw everything in a dryer for 30 minutes and then wash it in hot water to get rid of the bugs. But then she said "I guess I'll have to call the exterminator AGAIN. Obviously this is a repeat problem. Also it was obvious that she didn't clean the cabin very well for our arrival or change their fitted sheets or she would have seen the bed bugs. We dried, washed and re-dried all our clothing. We were not confident that we would not spread the bugs into our home with the bedding as we feared the bugs could be in between the quilted cover and inside the pillows - not going to chance it, so we threw them away. We spent considerable time spraying all our luggage with denatured alcohol. In the end, although we were reimbursed for the stay, we are out of several hundred dollars for replacement linens, gasoline, food goods, and cleaning materials in addition to time spent remedying something we didn't cause. Top this all off with bed bug bites that cover our lower legs/feet and spots on our necks, backs and arms and are still there 11 days later. We'll be contacting the owners to inquire of their willingness to reimburse us for our losses too. read more

I have mixed feelings on this campground. The sites are decent and I think spacious. The area is nice. It has a small park and pool. There is a decent sized catch and release pond. The bathrooms were out of tp when my husband went to use it on Sunday morning. Luckily the one stall had a small amount of tp and the other stall was plugged up. Similar situation in the ladies room hours later, out of paper and soap. Not plugged up commodes. My biggest issue was the was an alert for ecoli in the water. This was not mentioned when I called to reserve. It should have been. So don't use without boiling. We only had one gallon of water, so we had to buy more. They should have a water buffalo. We didn't brush our teeth or wash our dishes with camp water. We bought plastic at the local grocery store. It was kind of an inconvenience and extra expense and I feel they should have told us beforehand. This ecoli has been since June. The people that were behind us were rather rude. Music that we could hear very loud and clear and really didn't want to hear it and they kept their led awning lights on all night. It was a New camper and probably don't know or care about camping etiquette. All our other neighbors were nice. There are lots of seasonal sites here, but hardly any seasonal people were there this weekend. They also do this thing when you request a specific site. Ask you to pay an additional $10 to insure your spot is not randomly given to another. I don't understand the premise. And have never been asked this when I call any other campground. I mean that's what campers do right? You go to a campground, like a particular spot and request it specifically if you return? So I can call and make that reservation for site 5 and two hours later someone else can call and ask for it and since I didn't pay the fee I lose my spot? Nope. read more

Nice little campground, probably one of the nicest private campgrounds I've stayed in. Owners live on site and are constantly working making things even better. Sites available under trees or wide open. Sites are not tabletop flat but most are well within range, a few will take more effort to level. (Watched a 35'-ish motorhome back in to a site just today, a few spots from me. He was in and level in five minutes with no wheels in the air as previously reported.) Beautiful tent sites with privacy, some with electric. Catch and release lake with paddle boat and canoe rentals. Kids' playground. Very well equipped camp store with attached small cafe (great milkshakes!) New game room. Heated pool. Laundry. Very well equipped live bait shack that sees a lot of local traffic for those fishing in Keystone lake (1/2 mile away). Free wifi that for the most part works pretty well, I clocked about 750K speed which is what they advertise for free). Higher speed available for purchase. Cell service works but spotty. A previous reviewer reported issues with electric, but I'm in a 50 amp rig and with both ACs and the dryer running voltage is steady at 120. Regarding big rigs, I'm in a 37' fifth wheel and had no trouble with plenty of room for my truck once disconnected. I saw 40' fifth wheels and 37' motorhomes. I used to own a 38' motorhome and would have no trouble at many or even most of the sites. The sites in the open area would easily take even the largest motorhomes or trailers, the upper wooded areas are doable but tighter Definitely coming back next year. Note: following a GPS can be problematic in this area - it will get you there but might route you on some not so RV friendly roads. The campground is on highway 210 - get there from highway 422 or highway 85, do NOT take Fisher Farm Road or 1st, 2nd 3rd or 4th street or Sagamore Blvd from Rural Valley through Sagamore. Sounds complicated but it's not, just have a quick look at Google maps before you head up. read more

Owners and workers are extremely rude and ignorant towards children unless they know an adult is around. Campground rules are made up on the spot even if they go directly against written rules in the handout. Handbook states children must be back at the site by 10pm but a parent can't push their own child on a swing at 930 because its "too dangerous". Owners lie and say they were yelled at when simply asked about the 10pm rule. Instead they recommend the children to walk to the lake by themselves until 10pm (apparently less dangerous than being pushed on a swing by a parent) Sites are extremely small and cramped. Unless you like camping right on top of other families STAY AWAY! Much nicer and friendlier campgrounds around. Staff are extremely unprofessional and liars! Definitely not a kid friendly campground. Will NEVER visit this one again! read more

I do not recommend this campground to owners of "big rigs:. Although the owner seems to feel the sites are level they are FAR FROM LEVEL making it impossible to correctly level a long RV. Motorhomes 35 feet and longer will have their front wheels totally off the ground. I saw one rig with three wheels off the ground. In addition, the electricity voltage is so low that it can harm compressors and electronic equipment. On a busy weekend, the voltage often dropped below 104 volts triggering our system to shut down and power from the inverters. We spent $500 and bought Hughs Autoformer to increase the voltage to a safe level. Do not allow the owner to help set up your rig.. He is ill informed regarding the requirements of sophisticated RV's. read more

Loved this place!!! Porta potties are real bathrooms that flush, the showers have great pressure, pool is great! Pam & Kayla are good Cooks....prices are very reasonable, and the activities are great!! read more

My friends and I have gone camping at a different camp ground each year now, and this is the first one we seriously considered making our regular trips to. The owner and staff are very friendly. The "regulars" are pretty friendly too. You can have a decent conversation with them, and not feel creeped out, which is nice. The bathrooms were some of the cleanest campground bathrooms i have seen. The pond is a catch and release pond with plenty of fish to catch. The only two downsides to this place was the mosquitos at our tent site (site H) which was likely due to a combination of the slow moving pond right next to us, and all the rain we have been getting all year.(which i can't blame them for) The other downside is there is no place to swim around the entire keystone lake, which is kind of odd. But the owner had mentioned the possibility of getting a pool in the future. If that happens, this place would be almost perfect. tent sites are $5 per person, per night, which i think is an excellent price. read more

After staying at several campgrounds traveling around the area, I have to say this was by far the worst one that I ever stayed at. We arrived and were told that our site was one that highly requested, to find that it was a small site that was not close to level. If we stayed at that site our awning would have hit the camper beside us. So we contacted the office and moved to one with no sewage, only to have the owner come and belittle us. Then he returned to say that our camper wasn't set up correctly.. Then to top it off on Saturday was water games, as we were sitting at our picnic table with our kids and food on the table he drove by in a golf cart spraying water on it say "water fight"... I was beyond being ticked off... Only plus was a small pool, but NOT worth it... Would never return or recommended it... read more

This campground is the nicest privately owned campgrounds that we have visited! The owners are welcoming and social. We were greeted with smiles from the time we checked in at the office to after we finished setting up to the social events we attended. This is refreshing because we have been to other privately owned campgrounds and it was like a clique...everyone here, including the permanent campers, were so nice. The camp store is well stocked and the canoe/paddle boat rentals are super reasonable. We were impressed at all the improvements that were made. The sites are very accessible with a fire ring and picnic table at every site. We will definitely be back and recommend Silver Canoe to everyone! read more

We traveled from northern virginia for our sons baseball tournament. We stayed here in our 43 ft fifth wheel. The owners were helpful and welcoming. The campground was beautiful and peaceful. We arrived on a Thursday and checked out on Tuesday. If ever in this area we will definitely camp here again. read more
