Came here once, wanting to try another salon in the area and the prices were reasonable. The ladies were polite and they have cushy chairs. The only tool they like to use is a nail filer and they file the entire nail - the top, sides, front etc. It was very rough both for the nail and the skin. She was very meticulous and the manicure took over an hour. However, my nails showed scratch lines after just a few days which I never experienced with gel manis before. Been going to this place for about 2 years. The only good technician is Linda. And she is really good! The rest don't listen and continue to cut your cuticles and make faces at each other. And then if you request someone they suddenly disappear or on "lunch." After a particularly annoying trip over the weekend- waiting until the end of my services for a pedicure (shouldn't this happen first?) Sure, if busy but it wasn't. This has happened numerous times - I just like having a pedi first so that it dries while I have other services. Then having my cuticles cut ( of course I said don't cut only push back) now the skin looks all ragged as growing in and catching on fabric. Went here for my first manicure in over a year due to covid. The nail technician pushed my cuticle back too far it hurt a ton and then cut the cuticles so deep that two of my fingers started bleeding. The cuts were so deep that for more than a day they would randomly open up and bleed profusely. My fingers are red and swollen around the nail bed. I'm using antibiotic cream and keeping them bandaged but have never experienced anything like this. I will not be going back here read more

I went back there after a long period of time and regretted it. I have only gotten my manicure done by the owner/manager and both times she sped through it with the top coat. Inattentive to detail, resulting in a messy finish. It might not have seemed like a big deal at the time since the top coat is clear, but to me, these details are distracting. read more

3.5 stars. This place was recommended to me by my roomie, and I figured why not give it a shot considering that the other place I frequented Modern Nails, was a bit farther down the road from my apt. However, Silver is quite expensive which is a drawback. Mani pedis are $40 and there's no weekday discount. According to the ladies who work there, it's all about the higher quality products and services. Hm. Services, I'll give you that- they were prompt, polite, and did things like razor for your feet which are not extra. However, polishing needs work, but from a job and a product POV. My nails chipped in two days :(. Granted I do use my hands a lot but still... felt propelled to have them fix it but sigh, what a pain. It's a basic/classic salon where all the ladies do a wonderful job and take their time with each service, so if you're getting a mani/pedi expect to be there for at least 2 hours. Lisa (Clarissa) is the most requested technician (she has been in the industry for YEARS), but everyone is great. The Essie & OPI color selection isn't too extensive, but it's not bad. This is what a pedicure should be. Such an unassuming building, but inside you'll find professional, courteous staff and a relaxed, quiet environment. My tired toes were soaked, salt scrubbed, buffed, massaged, moisturised, flexed and cleansed with a lemongrass antiseptic...all before we broke out the hot red polish. A lovely way to pamper yourself on a Saturday morning. The best pedicure of my life ran only $26, and $10 for an equally good manicure with complimentary shoulder massage. Firstly, this place does not seem to have any cleanliness standards - every place I've been to nowadays uses equipment that comes from a package and/ or blatantly sanitized before/after each use. I had been coming here for years but stopped because I was doing my nails in the city. Thought I'd drop by again. I won't be going back. The woman doing my pedicure seemed really unhappy. She got up twice to play with her phone and change the music she as listening to on her ear piece. When she moved from toe to toe, she'd literally slap my toe to move it out of the way. She also didn't push my cuticles back enough and barely scrubbed the bottom of my feet. Then she has the nerve to take a phone call for he last half of my pedicure (through her ear piece). Totally agree - this is the way a pedicure should be. I've been going other places in town since moving to Hoboken, but after a wild Labor Day Weekend, my feet were in much need of a scrub and this was the only spot opened on a holiday. And thank god for that!! I had Susan and she is the nicest, most thorough woman I've ever had. I looked around at other pedicurists and they seemed to be just as great as well. I like this place and know accidents happen, I got a pedicure here yesterday. They use razors on your feet and I didn't know that - as I was reading a book. The over all experience was good, however, when I got home there was a gash in my Foot that could have only been from the razor being used. So now I can't wear shoes because it hurts to much. I have never had a bad experience with Silver Nail. They are always polite and do a good job. There are, however, two women who mainly do the gel manicures, and one is MUCH faster than the other, and does just as good of a job. The slower one, Jennika (not sure how to spell her name) is much more conversational (which is how I know her name), but to be honest I would much rather get in and out in 30 minutes than an hour for the same result. Price is competitive for the area..a gel manicure just went up to $35 (from $30) a few weeks ago. I do notice that the place is much more well managed when the manager is around. This week I went in when they were very busy and the manager wasn't there and it was pretty chaotic..However I ended up having my manicure with a sweet girl named Julie. She seemed to be new, as she was getting coached a little bit by someone more senior and took a very long time (almost an hour and a half)..however my manicure is absolutely FLAWLESS and I would be happy to go back to her if she's going to consistently do such quality work. Plus I'm sure she will get faster as she practices. My only complaint here is the selection of gel polish..very limited. They do have a nice selection of darker/neutral colors, which I love in the fall/winter..but the selection of bright colors is lacking. read more

I had a gel manicure with tips and have never had a job so thorough! I used to own my own nail salons and am suuuuuper picky about how my nails look. I say nothing and ask for nothing when I go to a new place and Linda was amazing. Took her time, did it right, and really went above and beyond. I would give Silver Nails 5 stars, but I prefer when nail salons have a new package of tools and new file for each customer. Silver Nails does not. Linda gave me a nice hand massage and a 5 minute back massage---a nice topper to a great experience! no rush, no gossip, no BS. Just a very nice service and result! THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!! I got my UV Nail extensions filled here because my regular guy left the nail salon he was at. I came in for a fill and the replacement of 2 nails. They kept telling me the last person did the nails too thick so they kept filing and filing them down. Eventually, I could feel that they were no longer filling the gel extension but were filing my actual fingernail (along the outsides near the skin). I kept asking them to do it softer and she assured me it had to be done. I have had gel extensions for over a year and never had this much pain. Once the nails were completed, they had me leave very quickly because they had just closed and wanted to get out of there. I understand but my nail polish ruined on the walk home because it hadn't had time to dry. My middle finger nail broke bowling and the nail bed was so tender underneath that I couldn't stand the thought of getting it fixed. Once I picked the whole set off , I found out that the areas that were sore had been filed down through to the nail bed and then the powder applied on top (proving that it was their location that did it). I had to have my husband yank off the piece of nail that was stuck to the nail bed. I tried to go back and explain that I was upset, see if they could remove the rest of the pieces and clan up the nails underneath. She refused and said that it wasn't them that did it to me. She wouldn't refund any money and wouldn't help with removing the rest. Its the worst company I have ever been to. read more

I have been going to Silver Nail every two weeks for nearly a year now, and have had only fabulous things to say. The last time I was there, however, they were so rushed that they practically pushed me out the door and the work was incredibly sloppy. I thought that might have been a fluke, so I decided to give them another shot. Tonight, not only was the work sloppy and rushed, but they actually asked me why the tip was so much less than usual - even after I'd expressed my disappointment at how sloppy my nails and toes looked. Almost electrocuted! To save time the ladies wanted to do my gel manicure at the same time as my pedicure. This meant that they put a board across my pedicure chair and put the gel UV light machines right over the pedicure sink filled with water. I immediately said no and they argued with me that it was fine and I refused. They removed the electronics and moments later my chair broke! Thank god I said no. Never. Again. I had been bouncing around between a few nail salons and thought I found a gem in Silver Nail, wrong. I went in mid-October for a pedicure. Everything was fine until the tech decided I had an ingrown toenail (I don't) and started digging and CUTTING skin and nail. I had to tell her 3 times to stop and pull away and tell her it hurt. Then she did some kind of callus treatment which I wasn't told was an up charge until she told me I owed $34. Previously I had the same callus treatment and only paid the normal $26 fee. My toe (the one that was cut up) hurt immediately when I left. i was hoping it was just sore from the prodding, but according to my doctor it was infected. INFECTED. I will never ever ever again set foot inside this place again. read more

By Sunday morning, all 10 fingernails were chipped. I went in sunday morning to ask them to repaint them, and they refused. She is so nice and rubbed my feet for so long i was positive she misheard me and I was getting a spa pedicure... but it felt so good I didn't stop her and I was super happy when I was only charged $26.00 - the price of a normal pedi! The worst experience at a nail salon ever. I've bene here before and they've done a fine job. Took my mom here today because my usual salon is closed on Tuesdays. The woman who was doing my nails put the gel on so sloppy it was all over my cuticles, and when i told her about it she said it would get better with the 2nd coat. She put the second coat on and it ended up being twice as bad. No way I was going to pay for a botched job. She also blamed the polish on my cuticles on the fact that I asked her not to buff my nails which is complete b.s. I asked her to take the polish off completely. Never going here again! read more
