After hearing loads of buzz about Nailed It, which did so well in its first year that it was able to open a second location, I finally decided to give it a shot the other day. In addition to the hype, I heard that they offered Dazzle Dry, a service that was new to me but was essentially a long-lasting manicure without the need for harsh gel polish and all of the issues that go along with that. I read several reviews for this original location and saw that Kitty was highly recommended, so I booked an appointment with her on their website. I arrived at the salon and found it clean, modern, and cozy, but a bit cramped. I checked in at the front desk and was told to sit at the last desk, where my manicure then began. My technician was extremely careful and detailed. She filed my nails perfectly, was very gentle while trimming my cuticles, and expertly painted each digit. However, I did notice that she followed a slightly different process than on the Dazzle Dry website in that she did not leave a lot of time between each coat and let the top coat dry for 10 minutes (rather than 5) before applying the finishing oil. (I gave it some time before I wrote this review to see how that would affect the length of the manicure, but it lasted for over two weeks! I even heavily cleaned my apartment during that time and did not experience any chipping. I was impressed!) As my treatment was wrapping up, I heard someone call out for "Kitty", but she was addressing an entirely different woman. It was at that point that I realized that I had been engaging with another beautician. I did not want to make a big deal out of it, but I asked the front desk attendant who had worked on me, and she said "Yolanda". I was a bit annoyed that they had altered my appointment without saying anything to me, but since Yolanda had done such a nice job, I just let it go. I was in a real need for a manicure so I booked one here last minute. I'm a no frills nail person and have been on the search for my new go-to mani/pedi spot. I didn't have to wait long for someone to take me upon arrival. My initial thought is "wow this place is TIGHT," it feels super cramped. And it was crowded on a weekday at 3PM. Very hoboken crowd, iykyk. I get assigned to a manicurist who really isn't that friendly. Low-key rude and not pleasant. They randomly ask me to switch manicurists to the girl next to her. Don't give me a reason why. I ask the manicurist why and she just shrugs. OK? I had my own nail polishes because I'm super picky about that thing. The new girl was kind. Sweet. Very young. We spoke Spanish. You can tell she was new because the rude manicurist was telling her what not to do and what to do next. My manicure was OK. I gave her a good tip because I knew she was new and they were just being rude to her. My cuticles were cut up the next day, weird because I've never had that happen to me. Doubt I'll return. Too bad because the place was nice and clean just so cramped. read more

Unfortunately they gave my daughter a nail infection and she has been in pain since. Not sure their equipment is as sterile as it should be. Lot of additional costs to take care of her hand, a costly manicure to say the least. read more

I have tried so many salons in the area and this is by far the best one they now have two locations one in downtown Hoboken and one in Midtown Hoboken. James is the owner and he does an amazing job on nails. He's done my nails, many times and I'm always incredibly impressed with the shape and the longevity of them. Kimberly is my other favorite person and she does the most phenomenal designs really takes her time. She's incredibly artistic and can re-create almost anything you show her. I really appreciate the fact that she always is able to surprise me and elevate the nails and the inspiration picture that I provided to her. The Front Desk staff is so friendly and are amazing at communicating with you about your appointments and if there's any cancellations. You definitely won't be disappointed here. read more

Realizing that this salon is a fully mixed bag of experiences - what you end up with is technician dependent. Ive had positive experiences here before. This time I was 15 mins late to my appointment, so I realize that some of that rushed service I experienced tonight was my fault. But I would have loved some expectation setting on what would be skipped (e.g., my cuticles were roughly pushed down and only 2 were cut). And my mind was blown when the technician reused their dirty, torn up gloves, and dirty tools came out of the drawer and were used on my nails. I'm used to clean tools coming out of an autoclave bag - does not seem like an unreasonable expectation, lateness notwithstanding. read more

Overall pretty happy with my Mani and Pedi. A little pricey but normal for Hoboken area and super convenient to my apartment. My nails lasted over 2 weeks which is a priority for me. I didn't have James and sadly don't remember who did mine but she was very nice and did a good job. I had asked her to re-shape to round/almond and add chrome. I liked it but will be changing my shape moving forward and likely not try chrome again. They have to use Gel on top and it starts to chip after a few days. I booked a pedicure because my I needed one, and bc I wanted a long massage and a very relaxing experience after a stressful few weeks. It was my first time at Nailed It and I opted for the most expensive pedicure experience (forgot what it's called) + dazzle dry. The pedicure was rushed. The tech was pretty clearly new/junior and she rushed through. She barely touched my cuticles and spent very little time shaping my nails. In fact I asked her to make my nails square and she rounded them. The massage was fine but nothing special. The polish was ok, but she didn't have great attention to detail and my previous pedicures with my regular nail tech at home were much, much better. Also the experience was not relaxing at all. Very annoying old music was blasting in my ear, and there is a fridge full of water but they didn't offer me one. This place is way overhyped. I might try again with another nail tech who has good reviews, but I would have to adjust my expectations that this is more like a factory and less like a relaxing spa experience. read more

James is the best at what he does in Hoboken, so much so that I'm scared to share this and not be able to book appointments in the future! Every time I leave, I'm jazzed about my nails, no matter how crazy my requests may be. James has been doing this for over a decade so you know you're in good hands. Everyone who works at Nailed It is awesome (s/o Diana!) and you can tell the team gets along, which should be a given but I've seen the opposite at other local salons. One great plus of Nailed It is that all the materials for pedicures are single-use (sticky pads for sanding, bowl covers etc) so you know you're getting the most hygienic experience. read more

I like this place because they have Dazzle Dry nail polish which is stronger than regular polish and less than gel polish. It is $30 for this polish and usually, a Dazzle Dry manicure will last me 2 weeks when it is done right and done well. I used to go to Gloss Lab on Washington for this type of manicure but unfortunately, they closed. The only person here that knows how to use this polish is James. You are supposed to do 2 coats of the base polish, and between each coat you are supposed to let EACH COAT FULLY DRY. It does not take long for it to dry but manicurists here do not like to wait so they rush through and don't wait for each coat to dry which causes it to 1. not last as long and 2. smudge before drying. Both of which happened when I came here last. If they aren't going to use the Dazzle Dry system properly, either don't use or don't charge full price for it. I had my nails done on Friday and it is Monday and they are already chipped. I paid $40 with tip for a basic manicure that lasted 3 days. Its ridiculous. read more

I love Nailed It! I've been going to James for over a year now and he is one of the most talented nail technicians I've been to. He is extremely detail oriented while he's doing your nails and checks in throughout your appt to make sure you're liking the shape, length, color, etc. I've also been to Sophia who is extremely talented when it comes to nail art, and is equally as detailed with your nape shape and length. Everyone was very nice, but there were parts of the manicure that hurt pretty bad and then after being there for an hour and spending extra for the dazzle dry to "last longer" it chipped within the hour of me being home and i didn't do anything to it. read more
