We were told by our driver that he was the taxi that our hotel (Swanson hotel grand mercure) called. Coming in from the airport we were charged by another company $47.00. Arriving at the airport this time our driver charged us $74.80. We argued that this couldn't be correct so asked for a receipt with his cab information. He handed me a receipt with no relevant information including a phoney name and took off fast. I immediately called the company which didn't have a record of this order. I said that someone is using your taxi ripping tourists off and that can't be good for business. He didn't seem to care. The driver who picked us up took off with one of my bags and even though we waved and called him to stop he just kept on driving . Claims no bag . Let's see the CCV footage mate! Best taxi service ever! We were returning a hire car near the airport (as all the car hire companies at Tullamarine were booked out over xmas) before our flight back to Adelaide. We called 30 minutes ahead to book a taxi to take us from the car rental office to the airport, which was only a 15 minute drive. The taxi arrived exactly on time which was fantastic because we were in a hurry to make it to the airport, the driver was polite and very helpful packing our large suitcases and baby seat into the taxi, and only charged about $27 (their online fare calculator estimated $30). If you want a taxi that arrives on time, I would highly recommend Silver Top Taxis. read more

This is not about silver top as a service but it is about certain individuals that make the service seems horrible sometimes . I called and gave my pickup address . I was in a place that had a slow signal . I read a notification of the taxi approaching at 01:04 (but it was sent at 00:51) I ran out and did not find the taxi so I waited for 5 minutes, then called again and I was told that the taxi driver has already been there and left. I felt bad because now I have made a person wait for me and I know waiting is bad. Was it may fault? Possibly because I did not wait outside . But I was sick, my legs were killing me, I had a tempreture and I was shivering, that is why I stayed inside . The nice man over the phone said he will send another taxi, so I waited outside this time. The taxi came in 10 minutes. I opened the door and jumped in and said hello good morning. The driver said ( are you so and so?) I said : yes. He said: I was here before . I said: sorry I was inside and I did not see the notification earlier. He kept quite. The he received a call from his call centre, of course he had to put it on speaker as he was driving. The lady was asking him if he found me and he said : yes, she is real now. He went into complaining about how he had to wait and he asked people around about me,". The lady was trying to reassure him but he went on and on then said it is all good now. Well, it is not really good. I already apologized and you said nothing and now you are just complaining. It is not like I intended to make you wait but whatever . read more

I've not had a good experience with Silvertop Taxis (terrible drivers who don't know where they're going) and this was compounded while out riding my bike legally along a suburban road when one of their drivers drove up beside me and starting hurling abuse and then drove in front of me swerving to try and cut me off. Psycho! Several emails to their customer complaint department and they're still yet to even acknowledge my complaint. I'll not use them again. read more

I travel to Melbourne every 3 months My last trip on 6th - 8th March 2015 sadly i have to complain about the drivers and service 1. Driver from airport to Radission on Flagstaff Garden Driver did not know hotel or directions to the hotel from airport - He could not work GPS so had to do via my mobile - Cost was $68 ?? He told me the toll was $14.80 - when i questioned him on this he told me to look it up. I asked for his id number which he refused to give. He played loud doof doof music which i asked to turn down and was refused request. 2. This trip was from Radission on Flagstaff Gardens to Princess Theater - Once again this driver had no idea of where it was or how to get there - it would of been faster for us to walk there as we took a tour of Melbourne CBD instead of a direct route - even after I kept speaking up about the route he was travelling on. Cost of this trip $32.20 ?? considering it was only a few street away and it was 1.30pm Both drivers spoke very little English and non polite to say the least, Give Silver Taxi's a miss - you are better to organise other transport or walk/tram it if possible at least you will get there on time and at a affordable price. After spending over $100 on a taxi fare, the driver forgot to get one of my bags out of the trunk. I noticed right away and tried to call the company only to be put on hold for 25 minutes. By then he was well and truly gone. Their options were for him to put his meter on to bring the bag back to me (and he was 35 km away!!!) or for me to pick it up from the police station in the suburb he was in...again still 35km away. What stand up service. I will not be using these guys ever again. read more

Use them all the time. Most reliable service I have found in Melbourne. I occasionally try other cabs, but not quite as good. Most of the phone staff are great. I usually book on the Silver Top app now because it is so easy. read more
