Her nurses are competent, caring, professional and always welcoming as they greet me. Her care has always been above and beyond. I am sure they go way past their job descriptions to bring comfort to the residents....who could ask for more? Our family feels so lucky that we chose Park Meadows and are forever grateful

Our 92 year-old father/grandfather/father-in-law chose Parks Meadow for moving into a senior…read morefacility last Fall (2022). He eventually moved to Parks Meadow in January of 2023; however, it was recommended that he reserve his unit by paying the December 2022 rent. Unfortunately, soon after his move he became ill, hospitalized and passed away in mid-February, 2023. His stay at Park Meadows was only 3 1/2 weeks (late January to mid-February). The family paid March rent as we needed time to remove his belongings from the unit. In all, we paid 4 month's rent for his short stay. Another part of his "singing" up for Park Meadows was a "one time non-refundable" Community Fee - in this case $10,000 listed on page 40 of a 52-page lease agreement. It was explained that the Community Fee would lower his rent over his stay at Park Meadows. The family requested that Park Meadows refund at least part of the Community Fee. as his unit was only used a short time and he did not get a chance to use dining or any other facility amenities. Obviously, the family is very disappointed, and surprised, on the position Park Meadows is taking. Although there is no legal recourse, we find it unethical for Park Meadows to keep all of the "Community Fee" as his residence was so short in time. In speaking to the business officer at the facility, she could only say "it's out of my hands" and "I completely understand". In the end, it feels like a 92 year old man was taken advantage of with a very long and detailed lease agreement and an insensitive corporate entity.

She emerged after one month, competent and confident, and ready to return to independent living. In addition, the facility provided excellent activities and self care services like happy hour, football game viewing parties, and a hair salon, making her time there not just productive but also enjoyable. Finally, the administrative and support staff provided me with the information I needed with regard to finances and continuing care upon discharge from the facility. Overall, I would give Brookdale Overland Park a double thumbs up. We loved everything about it!

Everyone who worked there was friendly. My only issue and the reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I didn't care for the wall units that provided the AC and the heat. I ended up sleeping on the couch rather than in in the bedroom because the AC unit blew right on me since it's a small room. The filter for the AC had such large openings that if you had allergies I think you would run into a problem. Also, when I tried to run the wall units for the heat, they smelled like burning hair and no matter how many times I left the apartment and ran them for five or six hours at a time, I couldn't get the smell out. Having said that, I was in an apartment that had been vacant for a long time so maybe the other apartments were different. It's a great location and the help was very responsive. Overall, I would recommend it.

I asked for that nurse to not care for my mom in the future. That worked for a few days, but one night she was having issues and that same nurse was in her room. My mom would push the call button and wait for a long time before anyone would come. She waited on the toiltet one time before someone came to help her back to bed. Her pain meds were often given to her an hour later than expected, which would then be hard to get her pain managed. Her room was dirty and i never saw anyone clean it. There were a few caring people. Amanda as a great nurse. Matt was so kind when giving my mom meds. Be aware of Susan, a nurse there. Not only was she horrible to my mom, but I witnessed her being awful to another patient. That was when I knew my mom's horrible experience wasn't the only one. Even when they said she was a valuable nurse.
