I love to be able to go here for a walk and then a pint and a little bit of food. The staff are always great, warm friendly and helpful and the food in terms of the offerings and range and the quality are all excellent. Great food, great people, great ambiance and great views.

I ordered the fish and chips and, when I was finished eating, I specifically asked for the remainder of my food to be taken away and boxed up so I could bring it home. After we received and paid our bill, I sat waiting for my leftovers to be returned. They never came. We eventually asked our server, Matthew, where my food was, and he told me it had been thrown away because I had supposedly told him to throw it away. I absolutely did not. I had specifically asked for it to be boxed up. Mistakes happen, and although I was understandably frustrated that food I had paid for was thrown away, what happened next is what completely changed my opinion of the experience. When I expressed my frustration, Matthew told me to "get over myself." I was genuinely stunned. There is a huge difference between making an honest mistake and speaking disrespectfully to a paying customer after that mistake is brought to your attention. An apology or even a simple attempt to make the situation right would have gone a long way. Instead, I was spoken to dismissively and made to feel as though I was the problem for questioning why my food had been thrown away. We are visiting from the United States, and I was excited to experience local places while here. Unfortunately, this interaction left an awful impression. I hope the owner or management sees this review because regardless of the misunderstanding over the food, telling a customer to "get over yourself" is completely inappropriate and unacceptable customer service. The Dirty Duck may be a beautiful and popular place, but our experience with the service was incredibly disappointing.

While part of me loves trying new things, as a proud Norn Irish girl I take my frys very seriously. I can even, occasionally be seen as a bit precious. I don't like the fry the Prom, and I had gotten accustomed to my small fry across the road at the Coffee Dock.. but in we went. They do a 6 piece for £4 or a 10 piece for £6 and you essentially build your own fry. Which I like cause I favour sausages over bacon and typically want 2 sausages and 0 bacon. I got 7 pieces - just to be awkward. 2 sausages, 2 potato bread, an egg, white pudding and beans. Col got a 10 piece and we got 2 pots of tea - it wound up being around £4 less than the Coffee Dock, got more food and hubs got his mushrooms (double shrooms in fact) and was thrilled, cause the coffee dock doesn't do shrooms. Found a new breakfast haunt for sure. Quick service, hot and delicious grub!

They offer a very varied menu which changes seasonally, but I always have a soft spot for the cooked breakfast ( which I think is served most of the day). it's usually quite busy around lunch time, so I always aim for before 12.30 to avoid a queue. There is on street parking outside (think it's an hour limit) but there is a pay and display car park very close. There is an outdoor area at the back for sunny days, but they clearly say they won't guarantee the weather!! Really clean and comfortable inside.
