First, the fireplace is 3 years old. Second, they would not guarantee that this would fix the problem and the part was not returnable. Third, after the technician gave me the part number, I looked it up and it was a $200 part. Nothing added up about this experience. I didn't feel confident in the diagnosis and got a second opinion. The second company (Energy Partners) found the actual issue: a bad thermopyle, replaced it while there, and the entire repair cost $225 including the service call. I shared these details and asked Hellgate to review their misdiagnosis and refund the $200 service fee, but they refused. This was a significant misdiagnosis with a nearly $2,000 unnecessary repair recommendation. This level of misdiagnosis undermines trust, and customers deserve far better. I cannot recommend this company.

They charged a $50 trip fee, which I completely understood. The technician looked under my sink for about five minutes and told me it needed to be snaked. I said, "Okay, what would that cost?" His answer? $737, plus another $139 for an additional charge. I actually laughed because I thought he was joking. I asked, "Are you serious?" He said, "Absolutely." I asked, "People actually pay that?" His response: "Every single day." EVERY SINGLE DAY THEY DO THIS TO PEOPLE!?!? Old people on SS? Disabled? Hard working young kids? Hard working families??? How have we become a society that treats each other like this? Aren't we supposed to help one another? You can't convince me it costs $737 to run a snake down a clogged kitchen drain. To make matters worse, they emptied everything from under my sink, left it all scattered across my kitchen floor, and walked out. I have never been so disappointed. My dad was a mechanic. In the winter, he would lie on frozen ground under people's cars. In the summer, he'd work for hours in the blazing heat. Sometimes people paid him with cash. Sometimes it was chickens, casseroles, tools, or whatever they had. He believed in helping people first and charging them fairly--if he charged them at all. That's the kind of integrity I was raised with. It saddens me to see companies proudly advertise themselves as "family-owned" while charging prices that many families simply can't afford. TLDR: I spent nearly $342 for absolutely nothing…read more I called Right Now because I was having an issue with a mini split that was freezing up. It was no problem getting an appointment, and the technician showed up on time. But once he got there, all he did was attach a handheld device to do a line pressure test, which he deemed within spec (less than -1.5psi) and which did not indicate a need for additional refrigerant. He did advise that he would add some more refrigerant upon request, but also that it would be a considerable charge just take the equipment off the truck, and that refrigerant is expensive and at a 1lb minimum. So based on his feedback, I opted not to get the refrigerant. Good thing! After about 30 minutes, he charged me $342 without doing anything to resolve the freezing issue or indicating what else might be causing it, and went on his merry way. The freezing obviously continued. I called to book another appointment, but since he was on vacation and not available for another week, I went elsewhere and booked a tech the next day. They came out and ran a number of diagnostic tests and evaluations the RN tech didn't, and very quickly found that the root of the problem was a clogged blower and evaporator - which the RN tech didn't even so much as LOOK at. They showed me and it was immediately clear that this was an obvious problem - and again, that was just on a quick visual inspection! Right Now was an ABSOLUTE waste of time and money, and I absolutely will not be calling them for anything in the future. And any argument that "we don't typically service a particular brand" is moot. If you don't want to or can't do it, don't set the appointment. And if you aren't going to demonstrate the care or make a basic effort required to provide a solution to an obvious problem, how can you feel right about charging THAT MUCH for a nonsense service? AVOID AT ALL COSTS
