This law firm is horrible... RUN AWAY don't walk... Lou is arrogant and gives you wrong information his most famous line "don't ask for permission, only beg for forgiveness" maybe that works in certain situations, but definitely not a divorce! Lou is the slimy car salesman and then throws Tim Fallon at you. Tim has to be one of the worst lawyers I have ever encountered. He will literally feed you to the other side and you will be left with your mouth open to the floor! I literally almost lost custody of my child bc of him and I didnt even do anything!! My only mistake was hiring this place! 7 months in I fired him and hired Ms. Sklar! Thank god!!!! She was able to clean up his mess and saved my life! When I tell you this was the absolute worst experience I've had with an attorney, in my opinion he is nothing more than a hustler. Makes promises to represent you while preparing multiple money grabs thru excessive billing, additional retainer fees and then in my opinion becoming rude and dismissive. They missed deadlines and was unclear why previous intern didn't follow thru; therefore my case was delayed. He forwards your case over and over to others, forcing you to review and begin again. I felt disappointed, unheard and treated poorly. This attorney failed steady communication, empathy and overall professionalism. I provided massive documents and evidence for my case however after thousands of dollars you will still be billed for 5 min phone calls or 10-minute video appearances. Please...take heed before stepping foot into this firm. The Grievance Committe, Bar Association should be made aware if you have also had negative experiences as many of us have had with Mr Simonetti and his associates. I spent over $15,000 and worked with this firm for a year and a half with little progress. Most of the retainer was used for emails and reviewed case 10 times , they are rude , disrespectful and neglectful, with no direct action to settle the case in court or communicate with the third party. Calls were often put on hold or transferred, leaving me unaware of updates. After changing firms, my case was settled within fee months. Based on my experience, this firm may not move cases efficiently.i don't recommend ' stay away! Don't add more retainer if you see case no moving ! read more

Lou thinks he is a lawyer god, in truth he's more satanic. He is arrogant , unscrupulous , non empathetic and doesn't do the job he says he will do for you. He doesn't like to answer questions that make him accountable or give any decent legal advice. All he wants is your money and by the way he over bills at that . For example first time he showed up at court for me he was 20 minutes late, we were there for 40 minutes total, on his bill he sent a month later he charged almost 2 hrs! Since in his head he thinks he's Perry Mason, I guess I was supposed to pay for his breakfast, car ride to court , lunch, and car ride back home because he blessed us with his presence!! 1 star is too high for him, Stay away, again Stay away!!! On his website he has all these "Best of Long Island " references, have no idea how he got them and how he can post them! The comments from others on Yelp about the billing and underlings are correct. And for some reason the underlings , who don't say anything worthwhile during the meeting I had , charge the same rate as the almighty Lou, $400 hr.!! When they finally send you a bill , all the money is spent and they have the gall to ask for more! Lou came once to court and one of his underlings Tim came to a conference , I needed to hound them for updates afterwards and they charge when they finally answer . Lou gives you the big talk and makes you feel comfortable and then passes you to an intern and your case is dead. They dragged out the case forever and after a year nothing was accomplished. Extremely unprofessional.... In my initial meeting with Lou, he bragged about how he was an "Ivy League Lawyer", and how he was gonna make my wife's "*ss" bleed. He did not handle my divorce as he had promised, just sent amateurs at best!!! The best was one day before trial, I look around the waiting area to see many clients ALL with their respective Lawyers, going over questions, game plan and strategy, As for me? I was sitting alone while my attorney sat 5 rows behind me on his phone the entire time before we were called, needless to say I was totally unprepared for court. They dragged out my Divorce for over 6 years, my Divorce was simple on paper, cut & dry.......should have taken 2 years at best. Also, I paid for a QRDO over 6 years ago, it seems there is no trace of it in the system, and when I call the Firm they never call back.......its like I have been blatantly robbed, OUTRAGEAOUS!!!!!!!!! I retained the LAW FIRM OF LOUIS F. SIMONETTI, JR. on 12/23/2020; Lou, Phil & Megan were working on my case. My first and only interaction with Michelle Bertucci, who I think is their office admin was on 07/28/2021; when she sent the first and only invoice of an updated bill showing the initial $5k retainer fully used through services allegedly provided. I requested updated billing & hourly breakdowns from Phil and Megan throughout the course of the case as per our Retainer Agreement, but they simply ignore the request with knowledge of my MS diagnosis and symptoms cognitive impairment through the brain damage. Finally I spoke with Lou on July 13, 2021, about the billing and if they knew there was a hearing on July 16, 2021, he said he was unaware of the upcoming hearing and would email an updated bill and call me back later that day, but he never did. Megan called back that day and went right into dealing/adjourning the upcoming hearing they did not know about and proceeded to finish all possible billing points of my $5k retainer by literally wasting time with me on the phone and then with the Magistrate and other attorney on July 16 to justify billing thousands of dollars for making matters much worse. Ongoing bi-monthly balance, as agreed upon, to see the Firm's progress or regress in the case and the feasibility in continuing the services is required for everyone to be treated fairly. Page 3 of their Service agreement under "BILLING PROCEDURE" states: "You will receive an itemized billing approximately bi-monthly. This bill will be inclusive of all time charges incurred by my office. In the event that your fees exceed the amount of the retainer, and unless other arrangements are made, you must pay the amount due within thirty (30) days of the billing." I am disputing their unethical practice and manipulative behavior. My disabilities, financial status and pending cases does not permit me to seek justice through the Chief Administrative Judge, but I hope my detailed experience will help other struggling mom and dads avoid this trap firm. read more

We hired him for visitation and such back in 2019. He couldn't handle it and went and found a replacement and left us. The replacement screwed us royally. He keeps saying we ll fix it but only made matters worse. Good dresser. That's it. We gave him allot of money. Sad. He doesn't make a plan with you. In court she was juggling three clients and billing us all the same. Had no time to prepare. Judge got angry at us for being unprepared When judge said to council to get on the same page. I had a simple will prepared through another attorney but was able to sign and have it notarized at Simonetti and Associates. I didn't have my Power of Attorney form signed when I should have. I called S&A (being that's where I went) to clarify the steps I needed to take. The women who spoke with me over the phone were incredibly rude. I felt like I was wasting their time because I was confusing documents. They asked me the same questions over and over if I had the documents prepared there. I shared I signed my documents there. They asked which documents am I calling about. We went in circles and they wouldn't let me finish speaking. I was cut off and told I should call the attorney who prepared my will. I hung up. I'm sorry I'm not up on all the legal mumbo jumbo and terminology. It doesn't give anyone the right to be short. Learn how to speak with people. read more

Read all of this law firms reviews. Retained Louis Simonetti on 10/2020 and still on going. Paying for back and forth emails for them to do their job. Worst law firm recommended. Louis Simonetti and Catherine Romano will feed you lies to draw out the process. Louis is manipulative like an ex and tried to play me against the same company that recommended them. Unfortunately, I've been with them for over 2 years and still haven't gotten my divorce filed! They will milk you! No statements provided to even show what my money went towards. They will retaliate against you especially if you have a difference of opinion with there work and no communication issues. Literally have to be asking them monthly what is the status of a motion to see the judge and the only response one gets is, "we will let you know". Supposedly this paperwork was put back in December 2021. Today is March 2022. Am a single mom on a tight budget for over 3 years with one income. They don't care about us single parents. They only care how much they can drain you for. Also I've never worked with such backstabbing and unprofessional lawyers. They don't prepare you for court and let you wing whatever situation arises. Basically, your paying them to stand alone. Thousands later and I only have a half ass custody schedule that was blind sided years after I retained them. Lou was incredibly warm and welcoming during our initial conference. Little did I know he would not actually represent me. He instead would leave me in the hands of an even bigger vulture Tim Fallon. Tim is the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with. Apparently Tim doesn't like to be asked questions about his work progress or charges on invoices. Invoices in which were supposed to be received bi-monthly. I had to call, email and ask several times to receive them. I have never been spoken down to in such an insulting and degrading way. Tim's tone and overall handling of my case was a complete disaster. I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with this Lawfirm. Worst law firm I have ever used! My experience with this firm was so HORRIFIC that I am filing a complaint with the New York State Bar. If that doesn't scare you enough from hiring them keep reading. I needed to take my ex-husband back to court for non-compliance with our divorce agreement. I came in from out of town to meet Lou Simonetti and told him time was of the essence because of the terms of my divorce. He talked a big game and appeared to take copious notes. The minute he received my large retainer check he quit communicating with me and instead when I called I was passed to an associate I had never met... highly upsetting as Lou told me he was handling the case himself and was now ignoring my emails. I was told filing a petition with the court would take about a month. 5 MONTHS LATER I kept emailing and calling to find out the status of the petition (which I thought had been filed) with the court. When I asked for a copy of the petition they had none... because they had done NOTHING on my case. Two weeks after this I received a copy of a petition they had hastily put together. It as so full of errors it was like they just made things up. There was a child listed in the petition that was not was our child and literally the whole thing needed to be thrown out and redone. Of course when I called to complain and ultimately fire them, I could only speak to the associate. They wasted almost a year of a "time is of the essence" case before they mailed me a check with most of my retainer GONE for doing absolutely nothing productive on my case. If you like throwing your money down the toilet for poor representation or in my case no representation, then by all means do so. Otherwise, keep looking. I hired the Simonetti Law Firm because the reviews I read from different sources led me to believe that they were the right choice. They were not. I can not speak of any of their attorneys but one. This fellow could not have been less interested in me or my case. He did not answer phone calls, emails, or questions that I had. It was almost like not having any lawyer at all. I asked him several times if he could be more responsive, because I didn't want to tell his boss how badly he was doing. I wanted him to get the hint and do a better job, but nothing changed. I ended up firing him just days before a court date because I knew that his Sunday-driver attitude would both eat up the remainder of my retainer and accomplish nothing at the same time. He would never answer my calls he will never even bothered to talk to me. The young attorney Deborah Schmoilia , it was horrible and she would talk down to me as if I was a dumb person. There were times that I thought maybe I wasn't even their client and they were defending my ex-husband. They end up getting me a settlement that was terrible . Louis Simonetti is a egomaniac that says all the right things and then does nothing. The lawyer Kevin in his office is absolutely useless couldn't even answer simple questions. I was in the office after being a client for a year and a half when Lou told me I look familiar, we had only met a half dozen times at least and I had paid him over $5000. Never got invoices just got bills had to ask for invoices, then was overcharged for court time. I feel like a real fool for using these guys. It seemed they did everything possible to drag out my case and evaporate my $4000 retainer. I wanted a simple untested case, they turned it into a contested one. Much money was wasted in shuffling unnecessary paperwork. Communication was awful. Phone calls and emails went unanswered, and to my embarrassment I found myself getting updates on the case from my spouse. They put me through 3 different lawyers - the lead lawyer who did the initial consult, then I was immediately assigned another lawyer, then a third lawyer showed up for me at court. Why I ended up at court I don't even know - interviewing replacement lawyers, it was obvious a 4-way conference should have been done early in the process. Later, I learned that the second lawyer I worked had left the organization at some point, and no one bothered to tell me. This explained why some of my emails and calls went unanswered, but not all. Because of all the unnecessary paperwork, my case consisted of a phone book high stack of papers (about the thickness of a 500 page ream). The icing on the cake was that I had to pick up and delivery this stack to my new lawyer myself. Lessons learned - Interview several lawyers before hiring one, beware of high retainers, educate yourself on the divorce process, insist on good communication, make it a point of trying a get a 4-way conference scheduled early in the process, and hire a different lawyer ASAP if you are unsatisfied with the service you are receiving. read more
