Terrible customer service from the owner, good from the staff. We had a black tie event for my father, who was being given an award for lifetime achievement for Armstrong Alumni. The tux's and shoes were ordered about a week in advance, we came in tried everything on for the order. (The shoes were extremely important because I wear a wide shoe, which is very hard to find in a store and have to be special ordered.) When our order came in, I picked up my son and my tux's with the shoes. Got dressed and was half way to the banquet, when the sole of my shoe fell off! Imagine the shock to my wife and myself when this happened. I called Simons and they said if you can get here by 6 we can see if we have a pair you can swap. I stated, "Its 5:50 and there is no way we will get there by 6, can you wait a few minutes, we should be able to get there no later than 6:15.". "NO, we close at 6! " By the time we got there, sure enough, they were closed. I made several phone calls to area businesses and found shoes in my size at Men's Warehouse and we stopped there. They cost $159.00! They were the only place open and the only ones that carried 11 1/2 wide shoes. With not having any other choice than to purchase these shoes, which we were very grateful that they had my size in stock, we purchased the shoes. When I returned the tux's and shoes to Simons Formal Wear on Monday, I inquired about some type of compensation for the inconvenience and having to purchase shoes that I should not have had to worry about since that was part of my rental price that I paid them. I took the Mens Warehouse receipt for the shoe purchase just to show them, that I was out of that money and I was told the only thing they could do was refund for the shoe rental of $22.00. I rented the suit for $110.00, including the shoes. I had to spend an additional $159.00, was late to the event and all they would do was give me $22.00! In my mind this was not proper compensation. I was not asking for a full refund but something better than $22.00 just for the inconvenience. Tried to call the corporate office, I looked online for two days and there was no #s to be found. The owner was not compassionate to what had happened, not one time did she state, I am sorry for your inconvenience. When I asked for the corporate #, she stated there was no one else to talk to but her, that she was the owner. She had no compassion for what had happened, did not care if I would have been a return customer and in my opinion, did not care about me in any way shape or form as a customer. I will never use there services again and I will tell any and every one I know not to use them strictly from a customer service point of view. All they want is your money. Trust me, on rating this place, they do not even deserve the one star rating!! Too bad they don't have negative numbers, because they do not even deserve that. Customers Beware, if you have an important event to attend, do not risk the chance of them ruining your event. Go to Men's Warehouse located on Abercorn Street. Trust me, from now on, Men's Warehouse will be the only place that gets our business and referrals from now on. read more
