Both times I have gone there (first with Danielle, and then with Becky); they have gone over and beyond, more than any other massage therapist has for me. They do not skimp on time. They massage for the full amount of time. They do not let undressing and dressing take away from the massage time. After my massage yesterday, Becky had me dress and then came back in to do more stretch moves bc my lower back was in so much pain. She educated me on what she was doing and how I could do these moves at home. She took the extra time to do that when she didn't have to. That shows me that she cares!! I have a high bar for a massage so I'm not even going to review the massage. It was fine. I honestly don't even think I could tell you if it was average or below average because the overall experience was awful. The massage started 15 minutes late. The headrest of the massage table was broken so I couldn't relax my head completely down or it would slip out and fall. The noise outside the massage room was so loud the entire time because it is right off the mani/pedi area and waiting room chairs. Someone came into the room in the middle of the massage looking for towels. The door of the massage room opened right on the room full of people so I felt exposed on the table every time the door opened. I was basically in my head the entire time crafting this yelp review and wishing I was the kind of person who would get up and just leave. What a waste of $160 and 90 minutes of my time. I'm actually probably more tense after the massage than before I went in. I'm sitting in my car writing this, trying to get it all out, so I can go home and tell my husband (who treated me to it) that it was great. Not one to leave bad reviews especially when it comes to small businesses, but I have given this business multiple chances with multiple services. Waxing and massages. I always feel rushed, almost like I'm an inconvenience. I always arrive on time, even early. Massages are overpriced for basically just having lotion rubbed on you for an hour. Waxing is a big NO NO. I have now given this place 2 chances and both times I wished I didn't waste my time or money. First things first, for the amount of money they charge, they should be able to give this place a real facelift. It needs it! My first time there was a few years back and it was awful but figured I'd give them another chance, as I received a gift card as a gift. Just like A LOT of other reviewers, 20 minutes before my appointment, I received a text changing my appointment by an hour. I live 30 minutes away, so I was already on my way, so I ignored the text and showed up to my scheduled appointment, when I told the girl I didn't see the text and that I didn't have time to wait, she told me I could wait, or I could leave. SOOOOO rude! I told her GOOD customer service she should have called me, not just a text. Fast forward to the actual appointment, I had a facial that was perfect, no complaints but the massage, UGH where to start?! The masseuse would not stop talking or should I say b*tching. She literally complained the whole time about her husband and kids, even after I made mention that I was away from my kids and was really looking forward to some peace and quiet...so much for that. Yet that is not the worse part. The worst part is that when she had me lying face down, she took a seat in front of me and the wretched stench of fish filled my nostrils and the room. The first time I came here I got an hour Swedish massage and it was enjoyable. The second time I went was for another massage and their heater was broken and they did not tell us until we commented on how cold it was. They offered to let us cancel but we traveled over an hour to come (We has gift cards). The massages hurt and were uncomfortable because of how cold it was. VERY DISSAPOINTED! I live in this town, and was so happy to have come here because it's right down the street, NOT. So I went 2x. Becasue I said let me give this a try. The first time I went for mani-pedi and eveybrows. I spent $100.00! The mani stunk! Never cut my cuticles were more into gossiping what was around town. The polish was streaky and she had told me well it's the color you pick. I said well we can change it, and she said no time. WELL! If I am paying you, you should make time. The Pedi wasn't great either. Hardly anytime with the foot message, and again all the girl was chatting about was gossip. I went back a second time for a facial. Wonderful day spa. Not fancy or pretentious with great staff and services. My day started with a pedicure by the owner, Lori. She did a fantastic job and gave me a restaurant menu to decide what I wanted for lunch. I then had a massage by Lisa. I slept through most of it! What i remember was amazing, the pressure was perfect, and the rest must have been as well! I then had a great chicken sandwich from the Italian restaurant next door. When I finished lunch Maegen was waiting to give me a facial. The first product she used she said would 'tingle' a little. That's an understatement! It was almost unbearable but hey if it helps those dark spots and lines I'll deal with it! She said I would see immediate results, well, not sure about seeing anything different but my skin does feel good. I then went to Mariela 'MiMi' for a manicure and to polish my toes. She was my least favorite of the day. The mani was ok, both it and the pedi came with hot paraffin wax, but she seemed to have to try to be nice where all the others seemed to be overly accommodating and asked all during the day if everything was perfect. May have just been her disposition but if I return I'll ask for someone different. Then back to Maegen for make up application. My face now looks and feels fantastic! Glad I'm being taken to a nice dinner tonight! Overall a wonderful experience and perfect day. Lori pays attention to all that is going on and is definitely dialed into the details. I've been remiss in giving a review for this spa. I've been coming for as long as it's been open. Every time, I mean E V E R Y time I am treated like royalty and they are all so friendly. Lori and staff give great attention to details from the soothing colors to the spotless floors. I've had great facials and massages - pedicure and great manicures. I love going here. Everyone here is very nice! The home this spa is in has relaxing blue all over. I've gotten many different treatments here, facials, massages, nails... The spa is unique. Everything is set up nicely, downstairs there's a nice area near the front desk with products to buy. When you get there or are waiting to have a treatment they offer tea. I got a Brazilian wax here. The woman who did it was really nice and explained the process and different products she was using (it was my first time). She made me feel comfortable and overall it was a great experience... well, as good as a wax CAN be :p The only reason I'm giving it a 4 out of five stars instead of 5 stars is because they are overpriced. read more

I have gone there and received good and bad services. Once I had s great massages , once not so much. I did not like the pedicure chairs because everyone always looks forward to the massage chair and their chair just literally vibrates. Also I got my hair done there recently and was extremely disappointed. They told me they would fix it but then ended up having one of their stylists call me and basically made me feel super awkward and that it was my fault the color came out the way it did because I had faded color in my hair, even though the owner agreed with me "it did not look right". I'm not one to typically write a review like this but if you are looking to make an appointment (regardless of how far in advance) do not be surprised if you receive a text message last minute asking if you can reschedule. Last year I was at a high stress job and my husband purchased a gift card and I was so excited to book a facial and have some me time for my birthday weekend (it's the little things in life!). I got a text saying that the woman who does facials is out of the country right before my appointment. I ended up getting pregnant and very sick not long after and missed my chance for that me time. Again, I booked an appointment this Friday right before vacation... so excited to have a sitter and some me time! And I just received a text message saying that the tech has covid can I come later. That's awful the tech has covid, I hope she recovers but this really is no way to do business. Unprofessional and unreliable just based on my experiences. I highly recommend using Simple Indulgence for your wedding or any fun event! Lori and her team came to the Publick House and did hair/makeup for my 5 bridesmaids, my mother, my husband's mother, and me. She sent a large team (3 girls on hair, two on make-up) so it only took about 3 hours total and everyone looked amazing. Brittany did my hair and it was absolutely perfect. I had to do two hair trials because we couldn't figure out the right products to keep my hair from frizzing (outdoor summer wedding), but we finally figured it out and my hair looked AMAZING. And it held all day and night! Emma did my makeup and did a fantastic job. I don't usually wear a lot of make-up and didn't want to look too different than normal on my wedding day, but I did want to look fancier than usual. Emma made it so I looked very natural, but also beautifully done up. She did exactly what I wanted and I felt beautiful the entire day. They also brought lipstick for all the bridesmaids if they wanted to purchase it and gifted me my lipstick so I could reapply whenever necessary. Overall, everyone's hair and make-up looked great right up until the end of the reception which is impressive considering it was an outdoor wedding in the middle of August (aka - it was HOT). We also got a massage at their spa the day before our wedding which was great. Ally did my massage and it was hands down one of the best massages I've ever gotten. I purchased gift cards for a couples 90 minute hot stone massage last year for my husband and I. I have reached out to the spa multiple times to schedule. Either no one answers the phone and doesn't return the message or if I actually do get someone on the phone, they are unable to coordinate the staff's schedules and tell me they will "call me back". This is the 4th time I have tried to schedule. I've never had such poor customer service or communication at a spa before. I will continue to try to schedule our massages, likely one at a time since they don't have the staff to accommodate a couples massage (why offer them as a service if you don't have the staff to manage it?!). Very dissapointed.All I need them to do was to put my hair in a simple bun and do make up.My hair started falling apart after 10 min I left the salon,and had to wash off the make-up they did.Because it looked horrible, all I asked for was something clean and elegant.It seemed fine first,but when I arrived home and checked myself in a mirror,I was really dissapointed by the eyeshadow colors they chose plus I got 4 big pimples the next day.Seems like they don't wash their make up brushes read more

I got married at The Publick House in Sturbridge and we went to Simple Indulgence (the new location in the Publick House which is super convenient) for hair and makeup. They did hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids, my mom, my mother-in-law and they were wonderful. Everyone looked beautiful and they worked so quickly! From the moment I booked the appointments to the big day, they were so easy to work with. And one thing that they did that I really liked was when I booked the appointments a couple of months before the wedding, they asked for pictures of everyone's natural hair style and the one(s) that they wanted to use as inspiration for the wedding day. It was so comforting to know that they were going to be ready for the big day, and boy were they!! My bridesmaids had a range of styles and Kerrie, Brittany, April and Lori Ann nailed each one. Even better, everyone's hairdos were completely intact at the end of the night and we certainly tested them on the dance floor. I normally don't wear very much make-up, and neither do a lot of my bridesmaids, so I knew we didn't want to look like we were wearing a ton a makeup, but I also knew that we'd want to pop in pictures. Booking an appointment for any of their services is a nightmare!! No matter how many times you call, no one answers. The voicemail says to text or email. I texted asking for openings at salon on certain date. I waited 5 days (I called and texted multiple times throughout these 5 days) to get an answer if their was an opening or not. Finally on the day I requested I received a response saying no we have no openings. Was there openings 5 days ago when I asked? How about offer what is open? Clearly they dont want business so I gladly went elsewhere. I'll never deal with them again. read more

So I went here the other day with my girlfriend for a couples massage, when we got in the room I told the girl that was going to be working on me that I had a little bit of poison ivy on my arm. I told her it was fine if she just skipped my arm because she was afraid she would get poison ivy from me. I explained to her that she wouldn't get it by touching the infected area anyways but she didn't believe me for whatever reason. When she came back in the room to start working on me I told her I had another little spot on my leg. She then said "you know I can deny working on you because of this but I'm not going to. Next time just reschedule." She then put latex gloves on so that her skin was not in contact with mine, which obviously doesn't feel as good as bare skin. She did my whole upper body excluding my arms and then she did my lower body through a sheet, so again the nice sensation of skin on was not there. Overall not a pleasant experience. I will never be going back there for a massage needless to say. It was very awkward and not relaxing at all. I got an inferior massage because she didn't understand how poison ivy works. read more

I am becoming less and less impressed with Simple Indulgence... too many cooks in the kitchen? Can't figure it out. Initially I had wonderful service. I was a repeat pedicure customer. But now I can't seem to get a return phone call to set up an appointment. And when I do set one up, months in advance, invariably something occurs at the spa that precipitates my appointment being bumped or cancelled. I have tried simple indulgence probably 10 times over the last 7 or so years. I have gone independently and I have gone with friends or family who are "regulars" there.The few times I went with a family or friend, my service was pretty good. When I scheduled on my own, i never leave there happy. I have scheduled appointments 6 weeks in advance for specialty services, then showed up and what I ordered was not available. This has actually happened a couple of times. My most recent service I got a shellac manicure. I wasn't in the schedule when I got there, they rushed through, and my nails chipped 4 days later. 4 DAYS. I'm a mom with two young children, full time job, and my husband and I work opposite shift, I RARELY get to do stuff like this. I also spent 45$. That's a bit of money to have my nails chip 4 DAYS later. The women who worked on my nails were awesome. The reason I'm writing this is because, the problem seems to lie within the owners hands. I sent her a message telling her about my disappointing services , and it has been 12 days now and I have yet to hear anything back. Apparently she doesn't mind losing customers, and doesn't seem it's important to resolve issues with her clients. Also the turnover rate of her employees seems high, so I have never gone and had the same person for my massage or nails. So don't get use to anybody if you like them. They probably won't be there the next time you go. I will never go there again and I will never recommend simple indulgence to Anybody I know. read more
