I called up Andy's, who did our last cleaning and put gutters on our garage, but they never got back to me after a call, email, and website submission. I got a few quotes, none of them from Turro, when a co-worker randomly mentioned a recent gutter cleaning done by Turro. I will never grow accustomed to the awkwardness that ensues when trying to schedule home repairs. It seems the rule, not the exception, that you're the one pushing for updates and begging for info. But I digress. After a few texts, I got my quote and was told they could come out the next day. The only real upside of a pandemic is that we're always home, so scheduling is easy. My only frustration was that we needed to run an errand and I couldn't pin down a window of time when they'd be out. I started to assume they weren't coming when it was almost 4 on a Friday, but they assured me they would be there and they were. Hot damn our gutters were filthy! Seeing all of the water run out when they unclogged them was pleasing. The also fixed one spot on our gutter where the downspout had been attached shoddily too. They did try and upsell us on gutter covers, which we opted not to do until we've had a chance to do a little research. On the one hand, I didn't love that most of the gunk from the gutters ended up in our grass, but on the other hand, it was evident that they did a thorough job. Overall, we'd hire them again. They beat all of the other quotes we got, were friendly,quick, and we didn't have to wait weeks for an appointment.

These guys came out and found the problem, replaced the siding in a very professional manner, and corrected the downspout issue so that it feeds directly into the gutter. When they noticed that there was a greater degree of damage than initially identified, they were honest about it and gave me a new reasonable quote. They went above and beyond. On the positive side, he informed me that my roof had sustained hail damage and that I should contact my insurance company. With that knowledge, I contacted my insurance agent and reported the damages. In the end, I received an insurance claim to cover the damages. The problem I have with Sanchez Roofing is that they would not give me an estimate of the repairs until they saw the insurance claim coverage. While I certainly am not looking to profit off of the insurance claim, I do not want to pay more than I should. I reluctantly provided the full insurance claim report and wouldn't you know it; their estimate was exactly the same as the insurance claim. Here's the caveat. Since my actual loss was last year (but unbeknownst to me), my insurance company withheld what they call depreciation. This was a significant amount totally approximately 15% of the overall claim. So the check I received was 15% less than the damages. Sanchez Roofing estimate was for the full amount of the insurance claim before the depreciation. Bottom line, my new roof would have cost me $2,500 more than the insurance company was providing. But wait, there's more! Like any shrewd homeowner, I contacted multiple companies when contemplating a major home renovation. Two companies were spot on with the insurance claim amount (after the depreciation amount had been deducted). The interesting thing is that one of them was aware our roof was an insurance claim and the other was under the assumption this was an out of pocket expense. Regardless, both (highly rated) companies were cheaper than Sanchez Roofing. One of them - $2500 and the other more than $3500. I understand each company has different overhead costs and thus estimates can vary significantly. If their quote had been provided before the insurance claim report and was higher I would NOT have had a problem with them being significantly higher and might have even chosen them based upon their reviews. However, their reluctance to provide a timely (before insurance) and competitive bid places them at the bottom.
