Good first experience at Chop'd. I thought this was a massive international chain come over from…read morethe US but actually it turns out I am confusing it with an East Coast chain called Chop't! I have been seriously unhealthy recently (since about 2014, actually) and so Chop't was an ideal choice. You can build your own salad or if lazy/too socially awkward to speak to people you can get a pre-prepared one which has the advantage of giving you calorie information. It's interesting to see how many calories a dressing adds! I picked up the jerk chicken salad as thought that was a nice unusual meat for a salad and also it was the lowest calorie option - it also recommended the lowest calorie dressing, balsamic vinegar (all pre-packaged salads come with dressing recommendations but you can pick the one you want or none at all, which is cool). The chicken was nice and tasty, so nice and tasty I ate it all first then regretted I only had lettuce leaves and grilled red pepper left. My friend commented they should hide the chicken at the bottom as a reward. But wait! Chop'd had hidden some delicious sweet potato at the bottom as a reward. Winner. I regret they do not use (exclusively) rocket but other than that I liked Chop'd and will be back.

A big yes to Chop'd, infact a big massive yes to Chop'd…read more I'd heard they were opening up a while back and I'd had a look on social media to see what they were about. Salad and health food options - nothing revolutionary there but something we need more of in Manchester, so I was looking forward to trying them out. Food wise - great: big bowls of healthy salad and veg with the option to add in some protein or cheese for a treat. Price wise - also great: a 'regular' salad starts at £5.45 and only increases if you want to add more items in - but a mountain of lettuce, a choice of 3 vegetables and healthy dose of chicken was more than enough for me! All sounds pretty good doesn't it but wondering why I give 5 stars? I just love the business model - everything about it. I'm quite in awe with it still a day after being there, here's why: A lot of London imports lose their way when coming to Manchester - they seem chain-y, uninspiring and lack any local touch to really appeal to Mancunians. Chop'd avoid these errors and excel in implementation. They have Grindsmith coffee in house, what a clever touch to go with a local company (a great one I may add) and have their branding and signage way clearer than any 'chopd' logos - a massive h/t there. And finally, the speed and ease of service is second to none. You can pick up a ready made salad, you can create your own from scratch in a process that takes 2 minutes tops and you can even order online from box to full salad and collect when it's ready. It's not revolutionary as I said but whilst Manchester has been booming with investment and expansion, some of the traits the London city joints offer up has seemingly skipped our fair city - well until now. I may be blowing it out of proportion and chances are in 2 years time this same exact experience may only merit 4 stars, but in Manchester current climate Chop'd is a for sure winner. I'm a fan.

The Wolfhouse café is part of small 'Wolfhouse' complex of converted outbuildings and wooden cabins also comprising a gift shop, a gallery, and a quirky garden with children's play area. The gallery was shut on our January visit, but everything that was open was in the best possible taste and oozing a relaxed charm. Although only going on one visit, the culinary firepower here seems to be beyond outstanding! Ignore the fact that their website lacks contact details or even an address - this is probably just them being arty! Instead, click through under 'Goods' to 'Savouries' http://wolfhousekitchen.co.uk/goods/savouries/ and 'Pâtisserie' http://wolfhousekitchen.co.uk/goods/patisserie-menu/patisserie-menu-2/ and feast your eyes. Both myself and my friend had different and interesting Pukka herbal tea blends, and a chalkboard advertised that their coffee beans were roasted by a local Lancaster business, with Valrhona hot chocolate, so I think they have the drinks covered. I had goat's cheese, pistachio and prune cake which I think may be this recipe http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cheese_pistachio_and_85849 from The Little Paris Kitchen series on BBC2. My friend had a salted caramel slice, which I also tried and it was good. But my cake worked for me on a whole lot of levels - the colours, sweet-savoury flavours, the textures - see photo. The cake display was very impressive, with other options spread along the sweet-savoury spectrum. I note that the pâtisserie list on The Wolfhouse website just goes on and on and on, with 20-30 items on the list advertised as being available each day. This quote from their 'Savouries' webpage sums up the cheerfully inventive spirit, "When we run out of one thing, we find something else to cook. Simple! It's just so much more fun that way!" With so much inventive spirit, plus everything so well-sourced and made from scratch, I think we can safely say that this 30-seater café is a better option for the serious foodie than a lot of fine dining places. Plus, it is totally relaxed with great staff, and priced at not much above your average country tearoom. Highly recommended.

This branch is located in Oldham, on Curzon Street fairly close to Tommyfield Market and Specsavers. I called in here today with my friend while in Oldham, who was picking up a pasty and I was really disappointed with the entire aspects of the store including service and pricing, even my friend complained about the quality of her Lancashire Pasty as low quality and just dry. One thing which concerned me about the store was the pricing, for the pasty my friend ordered it was £1.75 and everything did seem quite pricey, especially with two Gregg's stores nearby doing similar pasties as it is also a bakery but one which is a bigger brand and known on a more national sale, who sell for around £1. I was also upset that the staff member seemed unwilling to engage into conversation, she didn't seem to care, she didn't say Hello, goodbye or Merry Christmas and she ignored my requests to want to know what the Lancashire Pasty was, treating me like I was stupid basically. Inside, the store wasn't really nice and most of the food rage was depleted, it felt bare and lacked a feel to it that it is a great place, and this was confirmed by the pricing and quality of both service and the food presented, being Christmas Eve is no excuse for this hence I think this branch warrants a single one star rating.

They served up a fantastic matcha latte, and Liz got a cappuccino. I thought this place was a fine place to eat breakfast, or if we wanted to get a coffee or tea to go. Liz and 'Em had pancakes... although it looked like smaller portions they were filled quickly. I had a morning brekkie with meat, which came with toast, bacon, a small tub of beans, roasted tomato and spinach, and toasted eggs. It was all pretty delicious. The server offered sauces (hot sauce or ketchup). I was pretty content with the food. All types of folks come in and all are treated the same. If you're up around the area - or on the way to the World Museum, stop by.
