As you can see from my previous review, I used to LOVE this place, and had been a patient of Dr. Tran's for almost 15 years, but now I am just disappointed and left feeling like the relationship I thought I had established with them doesn't matter. My husband and I both were patients here, I referred every person possible to come and see them, and I trusted them to the fullest with my oral care, but I cannot allow my 5 Star Review to shine any longer. During some of this history my husband and I would come out to Arizona and I made sure to book our appointments to continue care with this office and refused to see anyone else...they were the best! I respected Dr. Tran for her expertise and passion behind her beautiful office and I appreciated Alyssa for her commitment to making sure I had the cleanest smile in the world...and best convos. This all changed last year. Dr. Tran has been through more front/back office staff than I've ever seen, a couple great, most not good, but I stuck around. I had my last cleaning in Oct 2023, and was scheduled 6 months later with Alyssa. Unfortunately the day before my appointment, we had to lay our beloved 15 year old dog to rest, and the next morning my stomach was a total mess. Considering that the office is 45 minutes away from me, I was worried I might have trouble along the way, and I texted Alyssa that I was sorry there was no way I could make it...first time ever! Mind you, there was no confirmation call the day before (and I booked 6 months ahead), and zero mention of a cancellation fee. My husband had his teeth cleaned and Dr. Tran told him that he had to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth pulled, one that was absolutely necessary as she said she couldn't fill a cavity between the teeth, and referred him out. He went to the specialist, they recommended only the one, and that was done. He had a appointment for the filling already scheduled and also couldn't make the appointment as he got sick, but also didn't have a confirmation call. I called a couple days later and apologized for the mistake. Also, no mention of a cancellation fee. Fast forward, I call them and tell them that being 45 min away, and having a toddler without anyone to watch him makes for scheduling difficult (also Alyssa wasn't there anymore), and that I should probably find someone closer. The girl tells me that I need to pay a balance on the account...for cancellation fees. I told her that was ridiculous, explained the situations, and asked for that to be waived. After some time, they're waived. I go to another office, get a cleaning, and a filling and six numbing shots in, I have a filling that couldn't be replaced as I wasn't numb, and at that point, my BP was elevated quite a bit, and my HR was high. I got scared and left. I texted Alyssa, explained what happened, and called Dr. Tran's office to go back to them. The receptionist books me, and says that Dr. Tran may be able to prescribe something to calm me before. THE DAY BEFORE MY APPT, I get a text (not even a call), after I had been calling for a few days for the script to fill, saying that Dr. Tran doesn't feel comfortable with the appointment, and that I should go back to the office that did it! She doesn't even call me. And this is after I made arrangements for my husband to drive, and stay there for an hour with my toddler. Real nice. I can see that my loyalty really meant something to her. This was after I waited for her to get back from vacation, and I had a temp filling in my mouth for weeks. But she'll pick up the phone for a bachelor that chips his tooth because he was drunk. I called this week to see if my husband could finally come in for his filling, as again, we're loyal, and Kathryn, the intern, tells me that she can't schedule him and needs to talk to Dr. Tran...I ask, "why?" and she tells me it's because he didn't show up for his last appt. But that Dr. Tran would reach out on Thursday. It's Saturday, and I haven't heard from anyone at that office. I share my story with a heavy heart in hopes that someone reads it and decides that they want to be with an office that actually cares about their patients. I've been going to Simply Dentistry for years, even when my insurance did not cover. More than willing to pay out of pocket. I am one of those folks "scared of dentists" even though I've never been to a bad dentist in my life. I stick with Simply Dentistry because they make me feel calmer from the minute I walk in the door. Everyone is very friendly, yet highly professional. Straight Out Of The Hangover Movies (Almost)!!! **LONG POST BUT I PROMISE WORTH THE READ** BACK STORY I am part of a team of three who helped plan, manage and implement a bachelor party for a total of 20 people from a Thursday to Sunday in the beautiful (not only do I mean the scenery but the people too!) city of Scottsdale, AZ. Fast forward to Friday (NOTE: although this is technically day 2, I would consider it day 1 as our first day was spent "settling in"), our group hit up a popular pool party in Old Town. We had several drinks and towards the late afternoon, our bachelor, soon to be groom SLIPS BY THE POOL AND CHIPS HIS TWO FRONT TEETH!!! I can't believe this happens and as the news spreads to the rest of the crew, we are immediately concerned and I honestly didn't know what to do in the first 5-10 minutes. All that's running through my mind is there's NO WAY I'm sending my guy back to his fiancé looking like this!!! I finally get on my phone and start Googling dental offices. Mind you, my window of opportunity was SMALL. It was after 4 PM on a Friday and I knew there weren't many dental offices that would be open. I get a hold of one office that is open but no luck there. I call 4-5 other places before I call and finally get someone on the phone from Simply Dentistry. Here's how I remember the call: Front Desk: "Thank you for calling Simply Dentistry, this is Roxanne" Me: "Hi Roxanne, my name is Federico. I'm here out of town for a Bachelor Party, We are at a pool party and well, the bachelor slipped, fell and chipped his two front teeth by the pool..." Roxanne: "OMG! Are you SERIOUS?!?" Me: "Yes, I'm pretty much his best man and there's no way I can send him home like this. Is there anything you can do for us?!? I'm really desperate and I know many offices are closed or are closing especially on a Friday." Roxanne: "We are actually closed, but can I put you on hold???" Me: "Yes of course!" [On hold for a few minutes] Male voice this time: "Hi are you still there?" Me: "Yes." Male: "So we are essentially, closed but Dr. Tran wants to help you out, she feels pretty bad." Me: "OMG, are you serious? This is amazing but shoot, I need to be upfront, this guy is pretty drunk." Male: "That's a good point. Let me talk Dr. Tran. Can I put you on hold?" Me: "No problem." [On hold for a few minutes] Female voice this time, but not Roxanne: "Hi, this is Dr. Tran. So I hear you need some help. How bad is it?" Me: "Hi Dr Tran! Can I send you a photo?" (OMG, I can't believe I'm talking to the actual Dentist!) [Photo sent and received] Dr. Tran: "Okay, got it. Opening it up..." [Laughing in the background and laughing from Dr. Tran] Me laughing too: "Wow! Now you really have to see us!!!" Dr. Tran: "I'm sorry, but it is a funny story! You know what, it's not bad at all. How about you come in tomorrow at 10:30 AM?" Me; "OMG, thank you so much Dr. Tran!!! We will see you tomorrow!!!" REVIEW Dr. Tran and Roxanne went ABOVE and beyond by coming in on a Saturday, a day when they are typically CLOSED. They are SO personable and have an amazing vibe. They even let me watch, photograph and video some of the procedure. We talked, laughed and cracked jokes while the bachelor tried not to choke from laughter in the chair. Dr. Tran finished the procedure in about 1.5 hours and LESS THAN 24 hours after the "incident." It looks like NOTHING EVER HAPPENED!!! If you are ever in Scottsdale, AZ and need an amazing dentist and dental office staff, look no further than Simply Dentistry! I recommend them 1000%, especially if you have a "Hangover situation!!!" I'm even thinking about switching dentists and flying out twice a year for my 6 month exams and cleanings. What's funny is Simply Dentistry is located down the street from the pool party where this all went down. Absolutely horrible experience. I had a male hygienist who was extremely rude. I shave my head and he made "jokes" about me being seen as a skinhead at the airport and asking if I had cancer!! Entirely inappropriate. From there, I had a bad cavity that made it so I was in excruciating pain if he tried to go near it at all with a tool. He watched me flinch and still kept trying to go back to it. OW. When I called in later about it, the dentist herself brushed it off saying the guy has a sense of humor that not everyone gets. ??? I read somebody's review saying that it was a little suspicious that every review on the Simply Dentistry's Yelp page was a five star review and I really wanted to make this a four star review to make it known that they weren't fake reviews but I physically can't bring myself to do that. Simply Dentistry deserves five stars, not four. I've been coming here for two years now and I'm not gonna lie, my experience here wasn't always smooth. We had a little billing hiccup back when I first started coming here and I am ashamed to say I kicked up a bit of a fuss. But Dr Tran and her staff handled it really well, and here I am, making my twice yearly visits to the dentist (shoutout to John who puts up with my fickleness when it comes to when I want to schedule an appointment), even getting work done as necessary (okay, I still drag my feet about that sometimes, but I got it done eventually!). I know this isn't something to brag about but I hadn't gone to the dentist in 5 years before I saw Dr Tran so I think it's safe to say her and her wonderful staff definitely changed me. So for anyone out there who's in the market for a new dentist, definitely give Simply Dentistry a try! You won't regret it, I promise. Did I mention they have TVs with DirectTV on the ceiling so you can watch some TV as they work on your teeth? And Dr Tran maintains this awesome garden out back - it's really cool! Expertise, good humored, customer service to the extreme! These guys know what they are doing! Dr. Tran is such a pro. The hygienist and her made me feel very comfortable while working on my teeth. She explained the entire situation from beginning to end of how a crown works. It was going to be my first one. As she started to drill away the old filling, she noticed there was still a lot of good tooth left and offered me a much more affordable plan B! I ended up getting a large filling, which was much better for me, considering my anxiety and dislike for all the drilling! Dr. Tran has a conservative and realistic approach dentistry and brings a vast amount of knowledge to any situation. You can trust these guys. ****PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SCHEDULING**** Do you have Delta Dental for insurance?? DO NOT COME HERE. THEY ARE OUT OF NETWORK AND WILL SCREW YOU OVER. I was told they would take care of me and that I would be charged little to no difference as an in network patient. THIS WAS A LIE. I had some work done at this office previously. They required me to pay for the procedure with an "estimated amount" that insurance would not cover. A bit fishy but I went along with it. One year later I found out that insurance had paid out in full for the procedure and the office had NEVER PAID ME BACK. This is against the law. If the office was paid more than the correct amount for the procedure they need to reimburse the patient within a few weeks! How have they handled COVID? As a person who has now lost 3 family members to COVID, this is important to me. Simply Dentistry has made NO CHANGES to the way it conducts business from the start of COVID. I have been going to Simply Dentistry for over 4 years. During this time, I've noticed the turn over rate at the front desk is fairly quick. As a business owner this is clearly a red flag. I get the feeling that behind the lovely facade of the office, people are not being treated as kindly as they believe. I'll take my business else where. read more

This is a MAGICAL dentist office. I am a horrible patient, bad gag reflex and I do not see the dentist enough. (well did not, I will from now on!) I of course can not remember her name but the dental hygienist that took my x rays absolutely went to Hogwarts. I was explaining my gag reflex problem, she gave me some salt and then some how they were done! As for Dr Tran, she is the only friendly dentist I have ever seen. She was extremely polite and knowledgeable, and answered all the questions I had even after we found out they weren't in my network. Dr. Tran is wonderful, she is extremely friendly and professional in the same sense. I was in need of a Root Canal and the doctor she referred me to (Dr. Matloff) was so spectacular. I came back to Simply Dentistry to complete a crown on the same tooth, and was so happy with the treatment I received. WOW. Seriously. I have never in my 26 years had such a fabulous experience at a dentist's office from start to finish. Highlights: - Incredible support staff - Dr. Tran was personable and interested in my life - Paperless experience from start to finish - High-tech, environmentally friendly office - Flat screen TVs on the ceiling over the exam chairs! After scouring Scottsdale for a dentist that would accept my insurance, I settled on Simply Dentistry. They're only a couple of doors down from my office, so I walked over one afternoon and gave them my info. One of the dental assistants (Hillary - she's awesome) did the insurance research for me and got back to me with the info I needed. We scheduled an appointment for the following week and I was impressed by such a quick turn-around. The office is set in a renovated home on Camelback Rd. The building was remodeled with sustainable, "green" materials. (A huge plus for me!) The lobby and examination rooms have a clean, modern design with calming colors, lending to a good atmosphere. Here's the shocker: Before I went in for my exam, both the hygienist AND Dr. Tran came out to the lobby and got to know me for a good five minutes before they led me into the exam room. I was incredibly impressed by how high tech the exam room was. There was a flat-panel computer screen in front of the exam chair that displayed a digital rendering of my teeth and the hygienist entered her notes on it as she did the exam and cleaning. They also put my x-rays up on the screen where they could magnify the images to give me a good look at what's happening inside my mouth. Oh yeah, and did I mention that throughout the entire exam, I had the option to watch TV on a flat screen mounted on the ceiling over the exam chair? I love this dentist. There, I said it. I know, I know, everyone HATES the dentist but Dr. Tran and her team and her office are amazing. My first visit here I received a warm welcome from Brittany and was given a tour of their entire office. I was offered something to drink and was invited to use their public computer while waiting for my appointment time. The hygienists were extremely friendly and explained everything that they were doing - FINALLY I know what is when going on when they poke at my gums going, "2...1...3....2...2...1..." Their office is very eco-friendly and modern. They have computer x-rays files in each room and FLAT SCREEN TVs ON THE CEILING! HELL YEAH!! They even give you the remote too, so you are not stuck watching HGTV. Dr. Tran is a pro at giving shots, and I never felt a thing. I hate the dentist. Plain and simple. For the last 4 years I literally had holes in my teeth that I could FEEL with my tongue, but I refused to go to the dentist because of my fear, anxiety, and straight up hatred for the dentist. Here's why: I have always had issues with my teeth since I was little. "She must not brush her teeth" you may be thinking. False. I brush my teeth at least twice a day, floss once every other day (yes, this could use some work, but still better than probably 90% of the population) and use mouthwash every day. I take immaculate care of my mouth. Unfortunately, low enamel runs in my genetics, so no matter how hard I try I always have at least one cavity after leaving the dentist. But because of this, I have always felt extremely judged by the doctors I've gone to. They made me feel like my issues were my fault, and my anxiety from this actually grew into an all out phobia. Until I found Dr. Bicky Tran. Literally I've never felt more comfortable at the dentist. After coming in with 4 years worth of tooth decay she worked with me to set me on a plan for my teeth. She was gentle with my cleaning, took my phobia seriously, and never EVER made me feel like my enamel problems were my fault. I have my second annual cleaning next month, and I will never miss another one again. In fact, if I ever move away from Arizona I will come back every 6 months just to keep her as my dentist. 5 stars don't even do her justice. read more

Okay so, I have good teeth. I'm one of those people who love the dentist. I don't have to have dental work done, ever. So... perhaps I'm not the best gauge here. However, this place was great. TVs on the ceiling? how fun! I laid there getting my teeth cleaned and watched the Food Network. Score. Multitasking at it's finest. I got a great idea for a new sauce AND have sparkling teeth at the same time. New patients get a tour and this includes the kitchen area that offers up waters for patients, an office area where patients can use the computer and phone as well. While I really don't have any negative thoughts about going to the dentist, I can see how if you are someone who doesn't enjoy the dental experience, that this place would be one that would be comforting and patient. read more

When I finally found an article on Simply Dentistry, it sounded like a good fit for me - environmentally friendly office, individualized & patient focused care etc. Once I procrastinated a little more - because, let's be honest who ever wants to go to the dentist. I finally made an appointment last year & didn't know why I'd waited! Dr. Tran & every single person working in that office was wonderful in every aspect. Dr. Tran took the time to answer my questions & showed me pictures of my teeth on a computer screen so I could understand why she thought some issues were priority & why some could wait. I have since been back recently for my 6 month cleaning & by the way - the best cleaning I've ever had. Simply Dentistry is friendly in more ways than enviromentally friendly. This was the first time I left the dentist's office feeling better than when I went in! I am not exaggerating when I say that I usually hate going the dentist. I hate the air vacuum that dries up your mouth, I hate the water that sprays indirectly all over your face, I hate the sounds when they're cleaning you're teeth, I hate how your jaw hurts for the following week because of "opening wide" for x-rays, and I hate how the dentist talks to the assistants about your teeth in all sorts of code like you don't deserve to hear what's going on with YOUR teeth. With all of these things to despise about going to the dentist, I am surprised to be writing that I actually enjoyed my experience at Simply Dentistry. Dr. Tran and the assistant both spent 5 minutes getting to know me, sans any forced, awkward conversation. They were friendly, gave me a tour of the office, asked what kind of mouthwash I like, and didn't make me feel bad for procrastinating on my cleanings. Dr. Tran is understanding, friendly, and incredibly good at what she does. Both the assistant and her were patient, explained what they were doing, and seemed genuinely interested in making my experience as comfortable as possible. If you're looking for a dentist, Dr. Tran at Simply Dentistry is top notch. Her office is green and eco friendly, there is a ceiling-mounted tv to keep you distracted, and she'll make jokes and share stories along the way. read more

Maybe it is just because my old dentist in IL used stone tools to clean my teeth, but it is more likely due to the fact that Dr. Tran and all of her staff are super cool, and left me feeling like my teeth might outlast the rest of my body. She administered shots (because I had to have like a zillion cavities redone) with me barely feeling them. She took inventory of the condition of my gums, and even took clear pictures of all dental work that needed to be done so she could show me exactly how godawful my teeth look up close. Best dentist ever. 5 stars because it really doesn't get much better. I needed a new dentist since mine had moved and decided to use yelp (since I use it for everything else) and discovered Simply Dentistry. I moved my entire family over to this dentistry after checking it out for myself, because I knew this was going to be out family dentist after the 1st visit. It's cute and nice inside (and ecofriendly!), and the staff is very helpful. Dr.Tran is really funny and they let me watch my Bravo TV or whatever I like when I'm getting my teeth cleaned. I adore the recyclable toothbrushes they give you after the visit. They're ecofriendly! I don't use them, but they're handy to keep in guest bathrooms and such. I tend to have problematic teeth, and irritating family members, so I appreciate a friendly dentist. Anyways. I would highly recommend Simply Dentistry. I mean, how many Dentistry's are even reviewed on yelp to begin with? Not many. How many Dentistrys recieve stellar reviews on yelp? Only one because there is only one. This place is awesome. If your looking for a dentist don't bother looking anywhere else. They have TV's on the ceiling and use vaseline on your lips so they don't dry out from that horrible torture suction tube that Dentists use. I recently moved away and felt compelled to leave a great review for Simply Dentistry. Everyone is super nice, very gentle and very helpful. They Gave me no hassel at all when I changed dentists, they sent all my x-rays and records over immediately. I almost considered commuting back to Scottsdale for my appointments but at the end of the day thats just not practicle. Thank you for the great servce during the time I was a patient. I was greeted by Brittany the receptionist - who is fabulous - she gave me a tour of the building - explained there was a little area for me to use the computer to check email or use the phone if I needed to, showed my the waiting area with complimentary water and a TV to watch whatever I want and where the exam rooms were and the rest rooms - I was made to feel very welcome. Only after I had been show everything and made comfortable was I given any paperwork to fill out since it was my first visit - normally, when you arrive the first thing they do is ask for your insurance card - not here and I must say, a very nice touch ! Chelsea, the hygenist, came to get me next, once i was done with the paperwork and walked me through everything she was going to do in easy-speak as well as finding out a little bit about me. I was having x-rays first and she was really gentle and encouraging :-). When she left to go and develop and scan the x-rays, I was given the remote to the TV above my head and left to watch whatever I wanted. The cleaning was painless - no hard scraping or poking and she explained what all the numbers were that she was taking notes of regarding my gums. Dr Tran is charming - again she explained everything and took pictures of what needed to be done so she could explain to me easily. All in all a simple and painless experience and I would recommend Simply Dentistry to anyone - the inside is beautiful, spa like and they treat you like a special human being ! read more

Best. Dentist. Ever. I became a patient of Dr. Tran's in 2001. Between then and now, I was relocated to 3 different cities in the US, so I've experienced my fair share of dentists throughout the country. When I moved back in 2014, Dr Tran was THE ONLY health care provider that I returned to for care. She is precise, thorough, current, highly ethical, and deeply cares for her patients and employees- far exceeding my experience with any other dentist. Best dentist ever!
