Devon slowly started to do the same thing, figured it'd stop eventually. It didn't, it eventually got up to $50 a month for a 5x5 that's got no protection from bugs or anything. Being that I would from sun up to sun down almost every day I had no time to come by and check on my stuff or come talk to them about the ridiculous rates increase. Eventually I checked the internet for their prices and found they're starting people at around $15 again so I called up. Said I couldn't get a price match and asked if I could cancel my storage and then resign up. The lady said yes.. makes perfect sense. Didn't have time to come up and do that though unfortunately. I just got around to canceling my storage. After calling for 3-4 weeks I finally ended up pressing 1 for new customer and had a wonderful CSR lady help me and sent a contact report to the site manager who finally called me back the next day. She started out great, but after finding out I had already moved some stuff and took my lock the "final day to be out" changed from the 27th to that afternoon and if I wasn't all the way out by then I would have $130 PER ITEM charged AND she said since my storage wasn't all the way cleaned out it would hurt my credit. Apparently having things still in your storage directly effects your credit. We made an agreement to meet here on a Saturday. Their hours are 9-5. Ive been here since 10:15 and it's now 10:45 and the front door has been locked the entire time. All in all Devon is good for short term storage but absolutely terrible for long term and garbage for customer service. Don't store here.

The latest increase was the last straw, so I scheduled my move out, received two confirmation e-mails, and moved out on the scheduled date. They attempted to charge my card for an extra month even though I turned off autopay to prevent that. Fortunately, I use vendor-specific cards from Privacy.com so I had also "paused" the card which protected me and declined the transaction. The e-mail where they tried to extort an extra month's rent did not have a valid reply address, so you have to call them. I didn't bother with the corporate number as I've done that in the past and had a terrible experience. I called the local number and left a message, which is your only option since they do not answer the phone. It looks like they removed the fraudulent charge but didn't bother to return my call. I guess it is corporate policy to never admit fault. I hope to get rid of excess stuff so that I never need a storage unit again, but if I do I will certainly steer clear of Public Storage and never use them again! P.S. By the way they will do everything they can to automatically enroll you in their overpriced insurance coverage. You almost certainly do not need it if you have homeowner's or renter's insurance at your dwelling. This is pure profit they tack onto your already-overpriced rent.

Thankfully I called Guardian and they made it happen! They showed up either right on time or a few minutes early all 3 days of my move (yes you are reading that correctly) and did not stop working once they arrived. Their pricing was fair and they loaded everything as efficiently as possible. We had a lot of stuff and multiple beds/bunk beds that needed assembly and reassembly. Barry the driver was the only employee there all 3 days but the other ones I met worked hard and did great the days they were there. Moving is stressful but Guardian made it as easy as it could possibly be for a last second cross state move. They give you 1 price on the front end and don't nickle and dime you to death. I don't leave reviews but this one is well worth it. Be wary of their lower rating on here; looks like some frustrated part time movers to me. Take it from someone who got great service for a 5 BR family home; go with Guardian and stop stressing about who will move your stuff!

The units are well maintained and I do appreciate the cleanliness and care of the grounds. But I have discovered that the owners of the storage unit are responsible for yearly price increases on their customers and these employees do not have control of this. Unfortunately, the owners seem out of touch with the customers who do have problems with annual increases.
