I had seen many ads for this service, so I was excited to try it out. The employees I met were nice, but are left handling customer complaints because company policy doesn't permit them to disclose several things. It comes off as misleading, especially since he said they aren't even based here. When scheduling over the phone, I was told pricing depends on volume of items, but no "starting at" price or anything. I was surprised at the prices (starting at $169), and especially surprised at the ADDITIONAL $150 labor fee that I also wasn't told about. I was later told that if I had my items in a central location that I wouldn't have to pay the $150 fee, but if I could move them myself then I wouldn't have to hire a service. What I thought was going to be an easy and reasonable service turned into feeling misled and scammed. read more

I called junk removal and paid over $600+. They removed "some" the items I requested, but most certainly left a lot! However, they had no qualms taking a number of brand-new items, which shocked me beyond belief. To this day, I'm finding many things that were taken (IMO, stolen). Examples: brand-new shopvac, still in shipping box, an expensive large leather purse, a new sleeper-sofa that was wrapped in the delivery plastic, BUT they left the 25-yr old sofa!! Had a tenant situation where they left lots of junk in the backyard and in the house. The handyman put it on the sidewalk, but did not haul away. I was left with trying to take care of the haul away myself, which could have been easily completed... if it were not for the fact that I'm in California! I read the Yelp reviews online, and decided to give them a try...before I got cited by the city (or County?) for the trash. (There was a neighbor that was getting tired of seeing the trash & was about to call the City/County about it.) When I call 1-800-got junk, they were professional, fast, and efficient. I got a time frame for when they would be out at the property, and had asked if they could also have one of the workers take before and after pictures of the work completed. They agreed, and as scheduled, the workers called me back with a quote. There was no pressure, and said that if I thought that the estimate was too high, I could just decline to have it done, and they would just be on their way. The quote was reasonable, and I opted to have it done while they were there for the estimate. A shout out and thanks to the Yelper who mentioned the 10% off AAA discount, as that came in handy! I have used 1-800 got junk periodically for 10 yrs, most recently yesterday. They are easy to schedule and will provide a courtesy call before arriving. I cannot think of any service I use that consistently sends the most pleasant and professional employees. Very respectful of my house and property and took particular care to take care for my three cats. A little pricy but definitely worth it. read more

What an unbelievably awesome job this team did. With only 2 hours notice on the Saturday before Labor Day, this incredible team showed up and hauled off 5 truckloads of junk from an old family home being prepared for sale. This included clearing out a full attic that was crammed floor to roof and three garden sheds that were cram packed. They also hauled off an old refrigerator from the basement and returned on Monday (Labor Day) to haul off 3 more truckloads. All of them worked fast and were extremely professional and courteous. Two young, well-spoken and meticulous men showed up on time with a truck, took care of the job, had all the information they needed, etc. Took care of payment with a smartphone, received an emailed receipt within seconds. The scheduling process on the phone was also handled easily. You get a 2-hr window and they call about 1/2 hr. ahead on the day of service.
