Stiffening in the cold: Freezing temperatures make the tape stiff and hard to apply or shape correctly. UV degradation: Unprotected tape can break down over time when exposed to constant sunlight." This is a professional company and I would expect that they use appropriate materials that would be trouble free in all weather conditions for far more than 15 years. The owner, J. K. Jones quoted me $55. per replacement window (of which I have 8, so far, out of 54) and I'd have to hire someone to install the replacements locally, furthering my expenditure. And that's without knowing if they still use the same butyl tape that failed. Even though the doors never encounter rain and are mostly protected from the sun, as they are covered by substantial eaves, Mr. Jones is sticking to his 2 year warranty when it was Doors by Decora's choice to use a product which is inappropriate in all weather conditions, for which they take no responsibility. It's quite disappointing.

We have a home warranty with AHS, and Bye Door Installs was the selected service provider. The technician came out on Friday and instead of focusing on the problem, he criticized the builders, saying things like, "These builders just throw these houses together and they don't put the doors on correctly" and "You see where this light is coming in, they didn't do that right." He mentioned something about the tensions, ordering parts, and said he would return on Monday or Tuesday to fix it. Imagine my shock when we received an estimate from them through AHS of $8,723, claiming the door looked like it had been hit by a car, wasn't installed correctly, and needed to be replaced. I was flabbergasted. I called the company and spoke to someone who said they didn't understand how it could be that much and promised a technician would call me back. Of course, no one did. I tried calling several times yesterday and this morning, but no one answered. I called AHS and requested a second opinion, but they needed to find a new service provider, which would take another 48 hours. We found a local company yesterday that came out this morning. They tightened the spring, added a new coil, and completed the job in 20 minutes for $199. The only explanation for this discrepancy in price is that Bye Door Installs was trying to scam AHS and us as consumers. I'm sure they thought we would fall for anything because my car was trapped in the garage. I urge you not to use this company. If you are in the Auburn/Opelika area, I highly recommend Up Down Garage Door. Excellent service with integrity.
