The sashimi has always been fresh, as fresh can be and melt-in-the-mouth. I recommend the crispy salmon roll ... it's so naughty ... I simply convince myself that I am just loading up on Omega 3 oils. My other favourite is Agedashi Tofu. So delicate. If you're sharing, ask for more spoons - even the most deft of orientals can't pick up silken tofu with a pair of chopsticks. That is how delicate and fine their tofu is. If this is first time to Wasai I should probably tell you to order a boat. It is a great way to sample the menu, also you will probably get jealous when you see them delivered to other tables. Save yourself the trouble in choosing what to eat. Then fine tune your choices later, as I will guarantee you will be back. Last thing to mention is the karaage chicken. You must try the Wasai version if you like this dish. It is a lot lighter than other versions, almost like a tempura batter but with the flavoursome karaage seasonings. As part of a chain, the range is quite typical of the usual sushi delis you would come across. The pre-pepared foods you see behind the glass are made on location, and probably on the same day of service too - I felt I should mention this after finding out that some places that sell pre-made sushi packs actually import them from interstate, which is ridiculous. But I digress. They also offer a menu which consists of a variety of dons (rice dishes), soups, noodles, and even a bento option. If it's not busy, they don't take too long to prepare. I find that their seafood-based sushi rolls are hit-or-miss in taste, especially the prawns, but in saying that, I have NOT gotten sick after eating anything from this shop. Their seaweed salad is a lovely, refreshing addition to a meal (great on a hot day), but those who are unfamiliar with seaweed may find the texture a little confronting and off-putting. I am a fan of their chicken salad, which comes with cold, grey-brown noodles, as a light meal, or if I feel like breaking up the handfuls of sushi rolls in my order. Their cold rolls are also quite good when dipped in their sauce. And pop by at a certain time (either 8pm on a weekday, or 6pm on a weekend) - they sells their sushi rolls at $2 each! N.B.
