My grandmother, sister, and I came here to try out the Cupcakes since they were on Cupcake Wars. The shop itself is cute and the cupcakes are displayed nicely in a glass case with labels so you can tell which cupcakes are which. The woman working there made it seem like we were bothering her, when we went to pick the flavors we wanted. We ended up getting 6 so that we could try a bunch of the flavors. I think it was about $16 which I think is probably par for the course price-wise. I had 2 cupcakes: the Triple Chocolate and the Chocolate Raspberry. I absolutely LOVED the triple chocolate. The mousse/pudding in the middle was amazing! The chocolate raspberry had a raspberry gel type filling which I did not like and ended up tossing. So it's all personal preference with the fillings I guess. read more

Cute storefront on an otherwise boring block. Went on a Friday afternoon so there wasn't much foot traffic. Guitar store down the block was closed and their sign caught my eye- I love cupcakes! Definitely looks family run, with an older woman and child in the back area, and lots of big cupcakes in the display! Pretty uniform in size and design. The turtle cupcakes and lemon cupcakes both looks great, topped with a lemon drop and walnuts and caramel. The chocolate cake was rich, the lemon had curd in the middle, and my day was made. Buttercream was whipped more like whipped cream, but still flavorful. Lovely surprise treat! read more

South Jersey people are so used to supermarket baked goods that when a bakery adds glitter and fancy icing, they think it is the best of the best. This bakery wins for presentations and luring customers with delicious sounding labels on their cupcakes. I have bought cupcakes in different seasons and their cupcakes taste like they are baked from some baking kit. They add various coloring and tiny flavoring to give a slight hint. A number of their cupcake varieties are loaded with some red goo that came out of some 5 gallon bucket. If this is the best, sorry folks. You must take a drive to NYC to explore what cupcakes are really like. These are sugar cakes....more like those twinkies, just with some glitter and twirled icing. read more

I used to watch Cupcake Wars all the time while doing cardio (I know, seems counterintuitive), so when I found out one of the winners was practically in my back yard, in EHC of all places, I was definitely excited to try it out. Now after several years, they've yet to disappoint! Simply Sweet pops up all around town, cakes at weddings, selling out at festivals and killing it in their own little store front. Now I'm particular about cupcakes, annoyingly so. If it's not filled and frosted, don't waste my time. But man, Simply Sweet hits the nail on the head. I've tried a number of flavors over the years but the PMS cupcake still comes out on top. It's a beautifully moist chocolate cake, filled with creamy chocolate mousse/pudding, topped with peanut butter frosting, caramel, peanuts for texture and edible glitter for pizzaz. One thing I can't stand is when desserts are too sweet, like yes I'm eating sweets, but I'm not looking to drown in sugar. This cupcake is so perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness balanced by the saltiness from the peanut butter and deep rich flavors from the chocolate cake. New to the area and first time in this bakery. Looking for something special for a dinner party so I picked up a variety of "award winning" cupcakes. Connie (at the counter) was very nice and raved about their award, which she stated is now 10 years old. I wish I had chosen the fresh ones on the counter but there were only 2 choices. Instead, I chose a variety out of the case on a Friday morning at 11:00am. I never opened the box after they were packaged at the store until they were served after dinner. I was both embarrassed and disappointed after a gourmet dinner by a chef friend, and these cupcakes were then served to all the guests. They looked beautiful with their edible glitter everywhere, but I have to say they lacked flavor, seemed stale, and certainly did not seem freshly made. The icing was solidified, the chocolate on the inside of the cupcake I had was just a small hard glob, and the plain vanilla cupcake was dry. The dinner guests were all trying to be polite, but their experience was the same as mine. I'm so sorry to have to report this as I had high hopes and looking forward to frequenting this establishment. But, for $3.50 each and the quality of these cupcakes, I think I'll stick to the local grocery bakery department. Sorry Simply Sweet Cupcakes, you just didn't win my vote :-( read more

Without a doubt worth the trip! I don't even like fancy cakes or icing, however these cupcakes are addictive. They have many to choose from, are very presentable, and make a great thing to bring to a party (Dont you love being different and not showing up with another bottle of wine everyone has had before? lol) The glitter they use is so cute! Service is A+ as well Yes Egg Harbor City is not always desirable place to make your destination, however this place is WORTH THE TRIP! Warning! HIGHLY ADDICTIVE AND DELICIOUS! Icing is not too sweet, their variety of flavors always surprise me with an excellent balance rendering these bad-boys irresistible. I usually buy a half dozen, my spouse and I share them and eat them all in one sitting. At parties I sometimes split them down the middle so people can all try the flavors and see the textures and fillings for themselves. This delightful little bakery is tucked away on Philadelphia avenue (the main drag) in Egg Harbor City. I was looking for something to bring to a dinner party when I stumbled across Simply Sweet. I first noticed a sign above the outside of the business that read "Cup Cake Wars Winner." Intrigued, I went inside to learn more. The cupcakes are a visual delight with their perfect lines, edible glitter, and design. Now on to the taste. I ordered the following cupcakes for the party: lemon, watermelon, triple chocolate, cannoli, vanilla, red velvet, and Black Forest." My dinner guests and I decided to split them up so that we could all sample a little of each. The taste was incredibly moist, not overly sweet but just right for the flavor, and surprising. For the visual presentation alone, the cup cakes were a hit at the party. The taste brought it home! This is the second cake I have ordered . The first was similar size with lots of details - 100$ - very nice after switching a few things around to make it the way I ordered it . Went to pick up the second cake - much simpler - $90 - It was handed to me in an open box - it was pouring out - and there were no flowers as pictured . The lady at the shop was very nice and called the owner - who told us - that they don't put flowers on cakes - huh ???? The lady found some flowers that would work - apparently they do have flowers - and I put them on myself - I had to ask for something to cover the cake while I took it to the car. I recently was in the area camping with friends, on our way to a local winery. We stopped on a whim and so glad we did! I'm not a huge sweet person, so I got the cupcakes more for my daughter and husband to try. But when I did try one, days later mind you, it was incredible!!
