This ice cream shop is an adorable, indoor, walk up shop. A TON of flavor options, like churro, smores, mocha chip, coffee oreo, etc etc. While they don't make it on site, they do get it from Blake's. The prices are a little steeper than I expected, BUT you do get a lot for your money. I ordered a kiddie and got 2 scoops on a plain cone! I decided on chocolate cookie monster and OMG it was amazing, exactly what I've always been searching for in a flavor. Chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookie swirl and cookie dough pieces. Amazing! The girls at the counter were so friendly, knew the details of every flavor and were super helpful. Love love love, don't listen to the negative reviews because you HAVE to give this place a try! read more

I've never been to the candy shop, but we frequent the ice cream shop pretty regularly! It's true that they don't have a place to sit inside... But they do have this amazing fountain outside so it's great in the summer! Their cotton candy ice cream is so addicting! I love that they have the tiny cone for $1 for my two year old! I've been to the shop maybe five or six times this summer and I've had great customer service each time! The first time we went was the best! After eating his ice cream cone, my son slipped outside and was bleeding from his nose and the ladies in the shop were super helpful! They gave us lots of wet paper towels and good wishes! read more

Unfortunately, it was my first and now last time I will go to this chocolate store. The Good: There are chocolates behind the counter and a full variety of individually bagged candies and chocolates. The store seems very clean and is visually appealing. The Bad: I purchased some chocolate covered pretzels and had a "feeling" that they weren't made by the owners but wanted them anyway. I brought my purchase to the counter and the owner waited on me. I asked if the bagged candy was made there. She said, "no, only candy behind the counter". I then asked, " oh, so then where do you get your bagged chocolates?" She abruptly replied, "distributors". I was waiting for her to show some great customer service and add something like " we use local and out of state distributors who have excellent products". But nope. Nothing. I then said, " who are some of your distributors?" I really wanted to know more about where the product was being made and if I was supporting small or large local or not-so-local business. The Ugly: She again abruptly replied to my question with " people". Just a Suggestion: You may want to be more open and welcoming to customers read more

The best around, Wendy is awesome, best chocolate and old school candy too. We go there every time we're in Newburyport.

Not a lot of room to move, but certainly a kid in a candy store haven. We picked a couple of confections from the case. Good chocolate, a little on the "too sweet for me" - but my son loved the oreo caramels, and thats a plus. The young lady behind the counter was very nice. But it was easy to be - we were the ONLY ones in! They don't offer samples though, so don't ask. read more

It's an ice cream shop/smoothie bar with some candy and other things, but the main thing here is the absolute awful place this is set up in. There is literally less than three feet from the doors to the counter with absolutely nowhere to stand. The doors open inwards which sure as hell doesn't help and the menus for the ice cream are on either side of the doors so you can't read them unless you're inside. The space it's in is not remotely appropriate for the type of establishment it is and that's why I don't go there. read more

This place is off the charts! Excellent chocolate. I purchase a pound of almond chocolate bark every week and it's always amazing! Customer service is always great. First of all, the place is a dump. There are three ice cream/froyo/gelato places in 100 feet of one another and this place is the worst by a wide margin. My real complaint is pricing. Their prices are ABSURD for what you get. I ordered a small (two scoops) to split with someone, and it looks like one scoop but is priced like three scoops. I don't have a problem with serving smaller portions - but you can't charge 50% more for less. Do yourself a favor and go get gelato around the corner; the staff is friendlier, the place is cleaner and nicer with more room, and the pricing is fair. read more

Was in Newburyport for the first time in years; my mum & I waked by here & I wanted to check it out, as I like good chocolate from time to time. First off, the door was a bit stuck; an employee came & opened it, I said "oh sorry, it was a little stuck;" she did not acknowledge me whatsoever. My mum and I browsed around for a few minutes and we were going to purchase a few chocolates behind the counter. Another employee was chatting to a customer for quite a few minutes, almost whispering, which I found a bit rude. Neither employee asked if we needed anything; we could have approached them, but I was very turned off at this point, and we left without buying anything. Can't speak for their product, but the customer service here was terrible, I would not return. read more

The chocolates are always fresh and ready available. The ice cream is very good as well. The staff is very nice and eager to please. I will go out of my way to get candy from them even though there are other places near by where I live to get it. You will feel like family when you visit. read more

There should be a zero star option, that is what this place should get.. came in with my family on a Friday night, a handful of teenagers working the place. A typical ice cream place, a little rundown and small but I could care less about that. The service was atrocious, the two girls that " helped" us were so rude and never once smiled. Customer Service 101, ladies.. SMILE, good customer service = tips, jobs in customer service. And the ice cream was mediocre. Save your money and go up the street to the other 10 ice cream joints in the area, which are larger, cleaner and have real customer service. read more

While the products I bought were all tasty, the employee's lack of professionalism distressed me. The young girls (college-age) working were all really nice, but an older middle-aged employee was extremely rude. While I was shopping, she complained about the temperature, Christmas music, and that the younger employee had their backs turned on me, insinuating the potential that I could get away with shoplifting. She yelled all of this across the store. I couldn't wait to get out of the store and honestly felt bad for the three other girls working there. I don't think this was the owner, but she was clearly in charge at the time I was there and was a terrible example to the other employees. read more

Left there minutes ago. There's a music festival here today so downtown is packed. There was a huge line and i asked one of the girls working there if they had the red velvet shake advertised on their wall before committing to waiting in line...(i asked because that would be the 3rd time I waited in line only to find that they didn't have it.) ...Anyway the girl said yes. Once I waited in line another girl took my order and she was very pleasant but did not know how to make it so she went to ask for help. Fine, no problem. After she came back she went to look for the ingrediant and couldn't find it. The first girl went to help and after another lengthy wait she stated point blank, nope we don't have it. I said "Really? After all the that time?" She did not apologize for the inconvenience or act apologetic in any way. She just said totally cavalier "we have the stuff for the caramel it's better anyway." I said "No thanks.", turned and left...and again flippantly, she muttered "It's not our fault." ...No it's not your fault. However your careless mistake inconvenienced a customer who was very polite and patient and then you offered up an attitude. Not cool. Their ice cream is pretty good but there are a plethora of other great ice cream places with nicer and more on the ball staff. I'll be looking elsewhere next time. :) read more

My family and I decided to stop in for an ice cream after a lacrosse game in town. My daughter ordered the vanilla shake and after tasting it was disappointed it was watery and had little flavor. I went back inside and asked it we could exchange it for something else. The employee seemed very upset by this and said she would need to talk to her manager, this seemed strange over a $3 frappe. The manager came out and very rudely asked "what's wrong with the shake"? I explained the issue and she huffed and puffed and said "well you know that's what she ordered" and grabbed the shake and threw it in the sink and stormed away. This was all in front of my ten year old who was taken back by how rude she was to us. I will never set foot in this store again clearly the owner/manager has no concept of customer service. I'm embarrassed for her childish behavior and would strongly recommend staying away from this place. read more
