This is one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. The room was perfect, and the breakfast both mornings was superb.

It's always a worry when trying to find a place like this and only booking for one night but it was no problem at Casitas de Gila. Get ready for a 5 mile dirt road to get there but rest assured the road is well maintained and not scary for those traveling in a regular passenger car. As others have mentioned, be sure to grab your supplies in Silver City or bring them with you because once you get to Casitas de Gila, you're not gonna want to leave, especially if it means traveling in the evening! Checked in at the office with Becky and she was kind and friendly. Michael greeted us at our casita and gave us the grand tour. He's a very friendly, knowledgeable man (geologist) who gave us so much information about the land, the history, animals and dark skies. The casita (we were in the bird casita) is so comfortable! Super comfy bed, lots of plush towels and extra blankets/pillows, heated floors, BBQs (charcoal and propane), birdseed to feed the tons of quail, entertainment in the way of board games, books and such, a telescope and lots of stuff for cooking to make your stay enjoyable. All the dishes/cookware you'd need, coffee/tea/filters, spices/seasonings, condiments and included were a fresh half gallon of milk, orange juice, bagels, English muffins, cream cheese, butter, jellies/jams and a delightfully delicious loaf of pumpkin pecan bread that Becky makes. Incredible! We grilled steaks and corn on the Weber grill and enjoyed a night of board games when we weren't outside stargazing. The little art gallery is full of jewelry (Becky makes some), beautiful oil paintings (Michael is a great artist), t-shirts, cups, and plenty of other interesting items. We purchased a t-shirt and cup with the Casitas name on them and bought a very interesting and unique mask made from a gourd. We loved our stay at Casitas de Gila and would love to stay there again!

My experience at the Hidden Oasis was an extended stay, around 3 weeks and their casitas included everything I needed to feel at home, including wifi. I hope you have the pleasure of a wonderful meal prepared by Max and story time about Dragoon, the previous owners of the Hidden Oasis, Max and Chad's life and much more. The meditation labyrinth was a favorite spot of mine to enjoy a moment and take in the outstanding scenery of the surrounding mountains. To completely experience the Hidden Oasis I highly recommend enjoying some bourbon in the hot tub under the stars and watching the sunset by the fire pit. It's quite a show. If you need to stock your fridges and shop for essentials during your stay I recommend: Benson, AZ - 17 miles away (SafeWay/Walmart) Willcox, AZ - 25 miles away (SafeWay) Local Activities include hiking and exploring the wineries in Willcox. Pearce, AZ is a local ghost town with a couple of shops that is 20 minutes away. Whether it's for a night or a week I think you will love your stay at the Hidden Oasis.

I contacted them to inform them that I have a service dog and was flatly denied the ability to bring her. The reason. . . they are more concerned about guests with potential allergies. As picturesque and historical as the town of Mogollon, NM is, it appears that service animal friendly they are not. If you have a service dog and can live without their services then staying at the Silver Creek Inn, will be a fun experience. If you cannot be without your service dog then know, at least one group of Inn owners, considers their guests with potential allergies far more important than breaking ADA and Civilc Rights laws. Before my need of a service dog I visited the Inn and was taken on a tour, by the owners of the establishment. It looks clean, well maintained and the hosts were gracious. I am sad to say that I am not one that will be without my service animal and will not be staying there.

Mogollon is a treasure-trove for people who like history and beautiful scenery and the jewel of Mogollon is the Silver Creek Inn. We stayed there two nights (October 17 & 18) and the experience was wonderful. This old and very historic building was built around 1885 and originally served as a store. It eventually became vacated and sat empty for a number of years until the new owner (Stan) bought it and with the help of a few compadres, restored and converted it into an inn. I can't even imagine the amount of work it took, but they did an outstanding job. My wife and I stayed upstairs in a large and very comfortable room on the northeast corner. The adjoining bathroom was beautifully done and offered me a shower that was easy to step into and out of. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet offering a great view off of a balcony having a second set of stairs if one wanted to go to the ground floor. Adjoining our room was a library having a lot of shelves and books and a very cool moving ladder that can travel across the front of the selves. The library also has a very beautiful coffee table and more books are kept there having stories about the people who came to Mogollon years ago to find their fortunes in or earn a living in the mines that are in the surrounding area. Our host, Susie was the highlight of our trip up here and worth the long drive just for the pleasure to visit with her. She runs a tight ship and i am glad that after all these years and trips of visiting Mogollon, that I was finally able to spend several nights in this interesting ghost town and this really nice inn.
