My wife, daughters, and I walked all the way around the store and was not approached even though we passed a few sales reps. At first it was nice but after seeing a couple pieces we liked we started looking around to see no one in sight. As we made our way back to the front we see all the reps waiting by the door for customers (ironic since we had been there for 20-30 minutes or so). We just left there to do our shopping elsewhere. I would not recommend going to Alexandria Furniture Fair if you are actually looking to purchase something.

You could tell from the start she was so enthusiastic about the products and loved her job. She begin by telling us about their outside product lines which include customizable couches, and then practically gushed when she got to telling us about the things they make themselves. After seeing the gorgeous urban live edge tables I could see why. I am now dying to have them make me a table, and maybe some shelving, and more. Also, all of the artwork featured on the walls for sale is by local artists! After chatting with her for a bit she directed us to the 7 floor sister store 2 doors down. Urban Timber, located in an even larger store next door sources salvaged logs from our area, as well as Upstate NY (my home!). They involve the customer in every step of the process from picking their piece of wood, to measurement, shape, and even the base. The wood is completely dried and finished on every side making it a lifelong lasting product. While the prices are not inexpensive, you are truly getting a value for the high quality you are receiving. It is an investment. At the time of our visit a nice gentleman gave us a tour and if we had the time he wouldve taken us upstairs to where they make the tables. A sign out front mentioned free delivery. Their home decor selection is incredible, with strong candles, unique ornaments, decorative baskets, artistic planters and vases, gorgeous picture frames, distinctive lamps, high-quality rugs, cozy blankets in adorable patterns and textures, and stylish furniture including couches, accent chairs, shelving, coffee tables, and outdoor patio furniture. The kitchen department is huge. They carry everything from silverware, aprons, jars, salt and pepper shakers, and handy kitchen gadgets to Mason Cash bakeware and other charming cookware that you don't see everywhere else. They also have a fantastic bath section with soaps, bath products, hair accessories, and more including sunglasses, keychains, clothing like robes, blouses, and dresses, plus an impressive selection of gift wrap, greeting cards, and seasonal items. The grocery section was one of my favorite parts. They stock specialty jams, local honeys, candies and cookies from around the world, pasta sauces, crackers, drinks, and even several aisles dedicated to Asian grocery items, making it feel much more interesting than a typical home store. I ended up leaving with a horse-shaped planter, clearance candles, a bathroom rug, genuine quartz crystal string lights, decorative picture frames, a cookbook, a travel tea infuser cup, those nostalgic glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars, and an Olipop. They also do a great job keeping up with current trends. There were plenty of Hello Kitty, strawberry, mushroom, and other popular themed items mixed throughout the store without feeling overdone. Clearance items are scattered throughout the store, which makes it fun to hunt for unexpected deals. While some things are a little pricey, I think the quality justifies it, and much of it is still reasonably affordable. This would be an amazing place to shop for upscale dorm decor, housewarming gifts, holiday shopping, or simply to treat yourself to something you won't find in most big-box stores. It's also just a really fun place to wander around with friends. My only criticism is that some items weren't labeled with prices, or the price tags weren't always nearby. I ended up putting a few things back because I couldn't tell how much they cost.

I'm sure she smiled behind her mask as she patiently showed us numerous options that were very nice and never tried to push them on us. I felt like Goldilocks, when I laid down on the Tempurpedic mattress....it was just RIGHT!! Wendy's knowledge helped us understand the reason why they are incredible and made sure we understood all the features. We went in there hating mattress shopping and because of Wendy we left with the top of the line Tempurpedic mattress!! Only three days later their delivery team came and set it up. What I like about their team is that it's in house. They don't use subcontractors. To save money, so many companies do. Subcontractors don't always have the same quality standards as the business which often makes the process worse. This wasn't the case with Sleep Outfitters! Our bed was set up quickly and all the features explained well. They even came earlier than expected and called before!! I have found vintage Pyrex and some of my favorite kitchen decorations here. It can be hit or miss, and I think the old location was a bit better, but it is definitely more hit than miss, and when it is a hit it is a HIT. There is lots of jewelry to dig through, plenty of clothes, and beautiful furniture pieces like couches and china cabinets. Mostly though, this place is trinket heaven. The volunteers at the counter are always so kind and chatty, and you can tell they run it because they care. They even offer free wigs for people going through cancer treatment, which is incredibly thoughtful. They also have a rewards program you can sign up for. This is my favorite thrift store and one of the first I recommend to people. Real thrift store prices, great finds, and a place that truly does good in the community.

The staff was friendly without being overbearing and it wasn't as expensive as I had feared it would be. Delivery wasn't too bad price-wise and they assembled everything quickly. Perhaps the best thing I can say is that, while we were in line to place our order, an older couple was talking about how much they loved their furniture from Woodcraft and how their furniture they bought years and years ago looked just as good as when they bought it.
