They are a recent development created by the Short North Special Improvement District (SID). I think they add a lot to the neighborhood. The one between Lemongrass and Marcella's is called Millay Park. It's just a little brick area with a built-in brick bench, a small flower garden, a wrought iron fence, and lighting. Being right in the hub bub of High, it's the perfect spot to sit and people watch. During the warmer months on busy nights, you'll find artists sitting and sketching with a few of their prints and paintings laid out for sale. It's a good spot for musicians too. Beware, if you set up on a Gallery Hop night, you have to have a permit. It adds ambiance, and that's one of life's best ingredients. So, four stars.

Easy access to the Alum Creek Trail for biking, etc., just outside the west end of the park. Parking in the city lot across from Moshi and Jeni's. Also, maybe, at the Kroger, though I doubt they endorse that. Interesting history, in that it used to be the site of an amusement park, one of the last in the city.

Walking around Genoa Park is one of the best ways to explore the city of Columbus, OH. There is an…read moreeasy pedestrian pathway offering terrific views of Columbus' downtown skyline. I was impressed. The park is clean and well maintained. The perfectly mowed grass made for an ideal setting spending time outside on a lazy day in May. Being from out of town, I found a parking spot along a side street right near the park. Although I did have to pay a meter, I didn't care. I first walked over the Rich Street Bridge. Here you're afforded undisturbed views of the city backdrop. Plus you'll notice the paved walkway with benches to sit down on. The Scioto River cuts straight through the heart of downtown Columbus and adds another photogenic element to the backdrop. Continuing along...I passed beside the Center of Science and Industry, I believe it's called COSI. There appeared to be a charitable event happening, but still, this was a good spot take a seat on a staircase in front of the museum. Next I walked past the Columbus Civic Center Historic District. There was so much fresh green grass here and impeccably groomed. You can seriously just take a nap if you feel it, lol. You get good glances of Columbus' Main Street Bridge with high rise residential buildings in the distance. I spent an hour or two strolling the grounds. The park was a pleasant way to escape the (slightly busy, lol) downtown streets of Columbus without having to venture far away from the city aspect. All in all, it definitely had charming elements of NYC's Central Park, but obviously on a much smaller scale. In the end, for those visitors coming to Columbus, OH for the first time, I'd suggest making an effort to walk around Genoa Park.

DISC GOLF / SHORTER COURSE / GOOD TECHNICAL HOLES. …read more Of all the Courses we've played, Whitehall YMCA is our Favorite. While there aren't any extra long holes (Average is about 260 feet). Even so, the scattering of trees and a couple of ingenious hole set ups make this 9-hole course a treat. What's more is that each hole has a long and short basket, offering 18 different hole combinations - as well as handicapped holes when you have two different.skill sets in your group. . What we like more is the convenience of well-placed tee boxes, which usually sit less than 50 feet from the previous hole/basket. . Lastly, the course is maintained by YMCA, which means manicured fairways, most with a lawn that is just long enough for clover - and avoids treadwear from excessive foot traffic. . The only issue with the Courses is that if you do decide to play 18 holes, you'll be climbing a long set of stairs at the end of each 9 holes. Still, this is our Favorite Eastside course - and by far.

Hole 1 and 10 start at the same pad, but 10 is longer and more trees come into play. Hole 4 is fun. The first pic I added shows it: par 3, 203, through the trees and straight away but downhill. Fun. Hole 5 has the mozzarella sticks (logs) sticking up as obstacles through the course. It's the easiest to birdie on the course. 6 and 7 are in the woods, 6 is the furthest and then 7 will bring you back to the path. I had logs near the pins and #9 is in the field heading to the hill. You'll walk back up the 43 steps you came down earlier to get to #10. Easy parking in the YMCA lot. We'll done Whitehall, nice little course.

No bathrooms at the trailheads or in the preserve so prepare accordingly although I have not been to one of the trailheads....

My wife and I decided to get married at the pavillion. This was an amazing venue and the staff are…read moreamazing and accommodating. We got married outside and had the reception inside and under the pavillion. The venue provides you with tables and chairs, which is amazing for the price. You are able to bring your own food or high your own vendor. For alcohol, you have to purchase a temporary permit $170 and have to hire from a preferred alcohol vendor. That said, we hired the bartenders from Ohio Bartenders and purchased our own alcohol and beverages. Much cheaper option and worked perfectly. The outside space is large and perfect for any occasion. Also, the pictures you can take are just amazing. You also have access to the kitchen space which has a large standing cooler and industrial ice machine. Everything you need in one place, it's perfect. Parking is a bit scarce but when you reserve you get 26 spots located right in front on the street. I would highly recommend renting this for your next celebration of any kind.

North Bank Park has such wonderful views of the city. It is conveniently located next to the many…read moreparks along the Scioto Mile and connects to the greenway trails that go through the area. It features a very nice and popular shelter that, in non-pandemic times, can be rented. At our visit, it looked like they were doing some work on it. There is a nice large area of picnic tables under a shady area, plus umbrella tables with a great view of the river, providing a lot of opportunities to sit and relax. There is a fountain near the shelter, though it wasn't currently running at the time of our most recent visit - it's probably a bit early in the season. Street parking is available nearby (if you can get it - it was full up when we came by), or there are garages in the area. You can also access via the trails by foot, scooter, bike, and the like. We walked over from Battelle Riverfront Park and back again.

Facilities seemed well maintained. The ice did seem a little on the rough side like there was no Zamboni after the last event. Overall, great value, I would recommend.
